These Avatar subs are really great. I have the higher model, the "volcano" one which is 3800rms. I have it off a Smart 5k in 4 cubes tuned to 30hz and it DIGS deep. The amp is a bit too much but the I keep a close eye on the clip indicator I mounted up front. "SQL" is always subjective, but with the 4" coil, cone material, and some other things I feel like sub fits in that category for the most part. Only drawback, if you would consider it one, is that its kind of picky in the sense it really peaks hard on lower frequencies, 60hz and above it drops off in output pretty substantially even with the crossover at its highest setting. If the song doesn't have sub 40hz bass, it doesn't sound as good as other subs I have ran, but anything below 40hz this sub is just an absolute monster. It makes up for its lacking in the higher bass frequencies and hits those lows with superb accuracy and authority. I think a DSP would help even things out but I got zero complaints and absolutely love the way it sounds. Again, they really are good subs even at the high end price point.

The comment I'm looking for I'm thinking of buying 2 12s and put them on an 8k you think it would work properly?
@loaked3000 Жыл бұрын
@@randyramoutarvlogs So there are 2 different versions of this sub. There is the one in this video, the STU and then there is the "Volcano" ones, the STV. If you get the Volcano/STV ones then yes your perfect with an 8k as my 5k to just the one 15" is too much and will get smelly if I am not carefull. If you get the cheaper ones in this video, the STU, then 8K is way too much and you will probably end up smoking them unless you are super careful. So get the Volcano/STV with an 8K amp or your going to be in the danger zone. If you get the STU ones then a 5k amp would be perfect.

A lot of subs that say they are 1500-2000-3000 watt rms seem like they barely even come close to those ratings when they are connected to that meter. They are so much lower that I was honestly so confused as to why the reading were so much lower, that I thought “maybe the way the meter reads wattage is in fractions of the actual wattage 😂” until I saw this video….

When it seemed you were maxing the sub out excursion wise, it is not because you had too much power pushed to it but because you were simply playing outside of your boxes tuning range! Now had your box been tuned to say 28hz or so then you could expect it to be much louder on them low freqs and not making the woofer out but you definitely will lose some bandwidth when playing regularly music which who does that anyways 😉 😝🤣 these jam for the money but I hate to tell ya all Deaf Bonce and Avatar are made in China including my DB3515'S unfortunately and it shows too! Now instead of running them DB3515'S I decided to scrap that plan and bought myself a pair of Wolfram PT-18's with 4in PE flat wound coils 4k rms each and they're absolutely monsters at much less cost! Not to mention now I've got all matching equipment with my Wolfram AW-9000.1D at half ohm and my Wolfram AW-125.4 on my front stage... Still waiting on Drew Jones to design my C-pillar wall for me but I'm super stoked to go to slamology this year and move some hair with it.... Sucks all the drama behind the Wolfram brand but the benefit is cheaper equipment as if it wasn't already cheap enough lol-ol-ol nobody can deny an 18in flagship woofer with an American made PE coil for $650 shipped 🤷♂️💪🔊🔊🔊

The black glue means nothing is a marketing thing, for starters you your self when comparing 2 subs head to head you one clear glue one black glue you praise the black and say this one just has the clear but I can say i haven't had any problems though... That's because there the same... If the black glue was significantly better NO one would use the clear..... Do you think Alphard audio would use black on some but toss a crappy clear glue on there popular high wattage avatar sub? Hell no. People got the impression black coils were better so there made black as a marketing feature. I've had clear glued coils take insane abuse some that didn't yet I have some black coiled subs that to big power but some that get stinky pretty fast also on the same amp... Why is that there no different... and the biggest proof is The owner from PE says there's no difference.... that's pretty conclusive. Ask the deaf bonce rep if he claims black is higher heat then ask well why does STU have clear glue they handle big power? When speccing out a coil for a sub if it't happens to have clear glue that's what they use because it doesn't matter other than the folks that are convinced the clear is not high heat how would that be? it couldn't. The flat wire is also no different what dictates the wire shape is to achieve the desired impedance, fome need more turns some need less they use certain wire diameter and shape to end up with a particular winding width and diameter, that's all. I know people want to believe flat wire and black glue means big power handling but in real life some subs with flat wire burn up in a torture test while some subs with round wire passes...that Wlldse HCY sub passed the free air test and it has clear glue and round wire and it took some big power. But I'm sure glue color and wire shape misconception will never change.

I would love to see you test a power acoustik Gothic 12" subwoofer!! It's only 80 bucks at Walmart! It's 4ohm dual voice coil rated at "1200 watts rms" I don't think it would handle that much, but I think it could handle 700+ and for 80 bucks!! I'm really really curious how it would perform!!!!!! Love love love your vids!!! Keep em coming!!! Awesome job!! Your vids keep getting better and better!!!

SD X2 & X3 did way better. 145.8 I think you got off 1 12. Still though pretty cool I've been wondering about Avatar.

My question is can I put these speakers in a fourth band box? I feel like the sound that I’m looking to reduce as I’m driving down the street comes better from those type of boxes. Can you give me your thoughts on that? I have two of these subwoofers, I have not installed yet going into a suburban.

Parts at the moment are really expensive, im building a 15" TI frame and a 8 layer 3" coil 400oz motor and all in i have $525 in it. Just looking around on the web I noticed EM audio sells the exact same setup they call it there 3k line and it is same exact motor, same TI frame and same 8 layer 3"x2.5" coil, its using triple 10" progressive spiders same as mine, similar cone and surround profile just different brand, im using a big roll not mega DC (level 4?) cone, bit EM are asking $980!! Pheww thats a bit steep thats Zv6 prices...! even tho its pretty standard setup i was surprised to see a sub litterly identical to mine. But anyway shows prices are going up, thats a lot of money more than i was planning to spend and i need a 2nd.. but i got the last 400oz lord of bass sells and one of the last 15" TI frames, so have to wait until there both back in stock, its ok im tapped now anyway, but yeah the ground pounder parts are getting scarce at the moment. So $500 is a lot of money but for 4" coil sub in this market is a pretty fair price in my opinion.

These subs are awesome. Only problem is the push terminals are poorly insulated from the basket. You can touch the baskets and shock yourself because of this. Take the push terminals out and swap to direct leads to fix this and improve their performance.

I bought two of these subs and just checked my terminals with a quality multimeter (Fluke 179), each terminal to the basket. All terminals came up open, no continuity. You must've got a bad batch that sucks.

@@nickallen13 the issue only occurs when you start sending voltage to the subs. They will pass if just testing for continuity but when you start providing enough ac voltage to the subs that will power them issues start to happen. So if providing 3000w rms the subs are rated for you’re sending 77v to the subs assuming 2 ohm.
