If I was there, I would ask him where his Homies were at because the last time I checked, there are no water benders in the southern tribe, other than the one that was born years after the raides. And that conquest happened without Sozins comet ☄️ . And the water tribes are not practiced pacifist. Not to mention the northern water tribe almost fell, if it wasn’t for the avatar, and they had 100 years to prepare. To fight the fire 🔥 nation. And the end of the series the Earth Kingdom almost held the same fate as the air nomads. And if you wanna know how powerful one Airbender can be just read the rise of Kyoshi. Find out what one single Airbender did to a whole fleet of water tribe army. Where he literally became a folklore. And lastly, if you want to see how untethered Air-bending is, look no further than the desert 🏜️ episode. Aang was the only character that was not helpless. He had multiple ways of transporting out of the desert. He could fly on his staff, but if he didn’t have that he could jump long distances, he could speed run, and he could use the air scooter for transport. And there is a good chance. He could’ve found Appa too, but he couldn’t risk losing the rest of the Gaang so he turned back.

They don’t even realize the entire series aang was trying not to k*ll anyone with his air bending, whereas most of the series Zuko was trying to cause serious bodily harm to Aang. Even fire lord Ozai, his main dilemma wasn’t beating him in the fight. It was not k*lling him. That is how strong Aang was. In the cartoon I didn’t have a favorite character but in the live action Zuko was my favorite as his relationships make him the most human and relatable. @@JD-ig7yx I would say Sokka and Zuko carried the first episode, at least to me! The bending felt very lethal and at times whimsical so look forward to that. I would say that the pace of the pilot is very fast, considering it technically covers 3 episodes of the animated show plus some new content so it naturally moved faster. I almost wished that in some scenes they would linger a bit more before moving on but yeah, it feels faster. From what I've heard, the staff are aware of the fast pace too, and they said that this pacing will make more sense when supplemented by the other episodes. So we'll see. Just an advice when watching: if you notice something that they removed, always think if removing something doesn't affect anything in the context of the entire live action series. Or that whenever they make changes, the change makes sense in the live action but not in the animated. Most importantly, remember to enjoy it! Don't spoil your experience by being too critical. This is the only chance we get to experience this show like it's the first time again. 🥺🥳 Once you finish all of it, then you can start critiquing. I'd bet the experience is much better that way. Albert Kim-"Well, there’s certain things you can draw that when you’re trying to translate in live-action are incredibly complicated, both practically and financially," he said. "There are so many epic sequences in the original series that I wish we could have done, but it would have just broken the bank many times over. The Northern Air Temple episode of the first season is a finale in itself, and if we had tried to do that we would be blowing all the resources right there. So, we had to pick and the toughest part of this process was deciding what to leave behind - and I’m sure there will be fans who are not happy that they didn’t get their favorite episodes and their favorite characters, and all I can say is it pains me too." He added, "I wish we could have done all of them, but there’s the reality of creating eight-hour-long episodes for a serialized drama and also expanding the world in places and telling new parts of the story that hadn’t been told before. That takes up time. I think people think it’s as easy as saying, 'Well there are 20 half-hour episodes of the original. That’s 10 hours. And there are eight one-hour episodes of the new show, so they only needed to make two more episodes.' But it’s not exactly one-to-one there, so that was the process we went through."

Live action creators didn't want to copy paste the animated series as it is and few of the plot changes made by them are pretty good and welcoming as well. I did enjoy watching many of the changes (like Azula and Sozin's intro) as they offered different and fresh perspectives. But it has its own demerits as well: 1) Characterisation is something that was extra ordinary in the OG series (Aang was goofy yet wise and brave but here he is shown to be always frightened and somewhat coward, Katara was passionate, strong willed but here she almost carried the same expression throughout and why on Earth did they tone down Sokka's sarcasm. He was such a lively guy.) Honestly actors playing main characters seriously needs to improve especially Aang and Katara. (PS: Maria Zhang’s acting stood out for me as she portrayed her interest in Sokka quite perfectly. Actors playing Zuko, Iroh and Ozai acted brilliantly as well.) 2) And why is the casting overloaded with Chinese/South east asian origin actors? The main theme of the original series was peace and harmony between extremely diverse nations. Probably this is why the original creators left this project sighting creative differences. 3) The OG creators had excluded visual references of the genocide against air nomads for a purpose as it was meant to be a kids show. But in netflix without such restrictions they could have explored it much deeper and it would have been fresh for us as well. I was expecting to see more of Aang's past and the wiping out of air nomads. The genocide portion could have been longer considering the effort they had put to show it visually. At least 1 episode dedicated for it would have given ample time for the buildup. However it lasted only for 25 odd minutes so it felt rushed to me. 4) There is no suspense at all in the writing. Everything was just direct and linear. 5) This has very less humour than the animated one. Comparison with original is inevitable as the bar is set so high that it's very difficult to match those standards. So considering the above mentioned issues, the OG stands miles ahead than this live action at least for me and I wouldn't agree with anyone calling this as better than the original itself...
