Loved that mask! I recall an interview Corey gave where he talked about having a really difficult time singing in that mask. My first Slipknot show was a few weeks before Vol. 3 came out and I have to say Corey sounded completely different that night. Not in a bad way mind you, but his screaming was much higher pitched like he was straining and I always wondered if that was due to the mask or just because he was coming off of touring "Iowa" for a couple years straight

In my last comment I said 2004 was the best year ever which it was, but it was the last year and the end of an era of Nu Metal. During that time it was the beginning of new subculture called emo. Bands like The Killers, Fallout Boy, Panic at the Disco. Started to gain popularity and all those nu metal bands that came out in the late 90s and early 2000s lost their popularity at that time.

This album was the first one to include guitar solos from Mick and Jim (undertaker and phantom). Also, this was the first album to not be Parental Advisory. Not sure, but I feel like they were trying to show that there was a lot more to them than just cussing, and 666, and just a bunch of noise.
