After all the time that's past... this really IS one of the most beautiful song ever written. This version, this performance in particular draws out so much emotion. Even if you already know how powerful it is, it's like watching the end of Hoosiers, or Rudy for the millionth time... it STILL grabs you by the boo boo and hangs on for a while. My (now) husband bought me The Carpenter album on our first date because he knew how much I love the Avett Brothers and it had been released just days before. We listened to the whole thing through in his car and then I played this song off YT as it was my favorite at the time. When we got out of the car to kiss goodbye I saw a shooting star, we wished on it and the rest is history. We'll be married for four years this October. 😊😉

I feel like the Avett Bros less popular stuff is so incredibly good. I've never been a fan of, say, 'I and Love and You', not that its a bad song by any means, just doesn't resonate with me. But I can listen to something like Laundry Room or Ten Thousand Words on repeat. Maybe it's because I'm from the south and unconsciously drawn to the twang of a banjo?
