We played it at my brother’s memorial service and it was perfect for him. He was such a wonderful man that he left this world never having any enemies.
A lot of people say this is a sad song because of the songs pace and softness. But as you have witnessed by this young man's reaction this song is extremely powerful and spiritual. And when truly listen how this song has an effect and awakens people.

You may not have recognized the guy at the beginning of the song dancing in the studio. The one with the big bushy beard. That was Rick Rubin one of the most sought after producers in the business.

The crazy looking old dude with the beard in the beginning is their producer Rick Rubin. He was one of the co-founders of Def Jam records the first Hip Hop label.

I have been suggesting the Avett (rhymes with "Crave-it") Brothers since I first found you last year, Ty ! Glad Steve also suggested this song. Another I have been asking you to react to since way back is the Avett Brothers' Through My Prayers. I KNEW you would love this song. They have many in their catalog that are deep and heartfelt. These guys are uncommon. My absolute favorite band and the only one I have seen more than once live.

Really enjoyed this one and had never heard of them before. And to answer your question, I think it's not the "family" title I think it's the relationship that you have. I have people who are not my family but that are like my family and they seem to care for me more than some of the people who really are my family.

He wrote this song about his divorce. Basically, forgive and forget.
@dianatout62365 жыл бұрын
Eric Cernech Seth has said it took him years (8 maybe?) to write this song, so it wouldn’t have been about his divorce. He did write Divorce Separation Blues, though, which is definitely about his divorce.
@ericcernech38835 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that’s right. I mixed them up. Been a minute since I watched the documentary. Thanks for setting me straight!!👍
@jeffbrown81173 жыл бұрын
@@dianatout6236 well, that is true, to a degree. But he said he couldn’t finish this song until he went through everything he has. So in a way, it IS about his divorce. It’s about all of that stuff that’s happened to him in the last 8 years. The divorce, in my interpretation was what needed to happen for him to be able to finish this song after 8 years.

Been a fan of the Avett Bros for many years now. They’re unlike anyone else out there and they’re even better live. My wife simply cannot listen to this beautiful song without sobbing. In all honesty though, I can’t recommend their latest album. It’s horrible.
@chuleta19764 жыл бұрын
Their last 2 albums have been a departure from their normal style. Not the biggest fan of that but I will always listen to them even if I skip some of the newer tracks.
@TheBadTrad4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Rose They got way too political in their last album. I honestly don’t know when musicians and other celebs will understand many of us don’t want to be lectured to or otherwise don’t care to know their political beliefs.
@chuleta19764 жыл бұрын
@@TheBadTrad I'm sorry but I will never understand that argument. They are people with opinions, whether you agree with them or not. We are all allowed to voice what we think. Just because they are not like you or me, they should shut up? Come on. If that were the case, Trump should never have gotten a huge following since he was just a celebrity.
@TheBadTrad4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Rose Can you please point out where exactly I stated they should “shut up”?? They absolutely have a right to state their political opinions in their music, but I also have the right not to listen to these songs or give my money to them when they pontificate.
@chuleta19764 жыл бұрын
You implied it. Don't say you didn't. That is the basis of your comment. If you don't want to listen to or watch them, don't. Do you mind when a celebrity or athlete or musician says something you agree with? Or do you nod your head and support that person?
