Nice video. I observed a pair this evening canoeing on the Brunswick river. Just north of Byron bay.

Stunning footage. I have been lucky enough to see them a few times in Sth East Qld, but they are not easy to find.

Stunning birds. I used to see them when I was kayaking on the Yarra River at Alphington 50 years ago , but I guess they are not common now. A beautiful documentary in every way. Congratulations!

An absolute delight to watching this well made film. As a fellow wildlife photographer and filmmaker, I understand how difficult it was to capture all these scenes in the wild and make a beautiful film. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed!!! I am currently working on a film showing the wetlands of the Australian tropics, Azures are going to be a part of this and I hope I can do half as much justice to filming the KFs as you did. Looking forward to more content from your channel :) Cheers

Thank you. I am currently researching this bird for an illustration I am doing. This is the most complete information I have found so far except for one thing: it's call. Beautiful images anyway!

A pair of Azure Kingfishers crashed into our house in the late afternoon light today and did not survive . We hope that it is too early for them to have young in our creek which is 100m away . They are such beautiful birds and the video is wonderful. Very sad to have bury them together down by their home creek .

That is sad, how unusual though

Is it just me or are they almost other same as the comman kingfisher in Britain
@timhenrysnaturalwildworld9 ай бұрын
I believe they are a similar in size however in Australia we dont have the common Kingfisher which is in Europe, the colouring is also different. But both are true kingfishers by diving into water, other kingfishers here in Australia will either eat snakes/lizards even rats (kookaburra-which is a kingfisher) and other kingfishers will eat insects.

Today I just saw my first ever pair, perched over a small creek here in Penrith, NSW. They look ridiculously colourful in the sun! In the past the creek was stagnant and brown but lately it is clear so hopefully it is now suitable for hunting. Although they may be just passing through or looking for new spots to fish? It's only taken me 40 years to see them, even though I'm pretty observant around their habitat.
Is it still alive? Coz mine was Azure Kingfisher - Sky blue. X Still around?

I would believe they would be but not sure 100%, I filmed 4 pairs along 800m of the river. They all had young chicks so they were all competent parents! Thanks Leah
