hello from Eureka CA [age 56] :) i hear you totally, sir
@arthurbaker9788 ай бұрын
Agree with you. It's underrated so that even the B-52's official discography misses it in their albums list. It's defined as EP there. I don't care, it's a complete B-52's album to me. With some David Byrne's colorful notes in it.
@davidbois26058 ай бұрын
@@arthurbaker978 IIRC it was marketed specifically as an EP at the time -- five tracks? six? total on it? still: point taken -- WICKEDLY overlooked release. deeply interesting. and / but there's *something[s]* on Mesopotamia that suggest the studio relationship between the B's and DB might not have been smooth / seamless ... just a hunch

My personal ranking of their albums: 9. Funplex: The only one I haven't listened to all the way through. 8. Party Mix: Not terrible (Lava here is better than the original), but a bit unnecessary. 7. Good Stuff: Some fantastic tracks. Dreamland, Good Stuff, and Revolution Earth are some of their best. (RE is my all-time favorite.) 6. Mesopotamia: David Byrne produced it. Enough said. 5. Whammy: A bit dated, but fun. 4. Bouncing Off the Satellites: Underrated as hell, but superb. 3. Wild Thing: A perfect follow-up to their debut. Solid through and through. 2. The B-52's: The best showcase of "their" sound. Sublime track after sublime track, all of which never get old. 1. Cosmic Thing: In all honesty, Love Shack is the least interesting one here, other than the final instrumental. Every other song here is perfect. Pop perfection.
