Their vocals are so beautiful, I love when they both separately put a little gruff on a certain word and go back into the melody. I think they both kinda have similar singing voices. I don't know thier names but when they start singing together? The blond one sings a lower or higher octave than her homegirl and harmonizing the roam if you want "to". You can tell these two are mentally connected. No girls is trying to steal the spotlight. Its a two woman show. I love it and appreciate it musically. And my style is hard rock/metal. But good musicianship always wins and the end of the day, no matter what style music.

Before autotune, studios did have techniques to smooth out vocals you know? But it was used well, like in this recording. Cindy & Kate never sound this harmonious live. But I agree auto tune would ruin it. ☮
@clicheguevara52822 жыл бұрын
@@EllaJay ..and nowadays, we have the ability to use "autuone" in such a nuanced fashion that it doesn't sound tuned - because it's not automatic. It's done note for note by hand. (Obviously the ability to sing in tune naturally is far more impressive and respectable) Some people overuse tuning for sure, but in my experience as an engineer, tuning is used sparingly. People think that autotuning is some magical tech that allows a terrible singer to just press a button and magically sound like Beyonce. In reality, it's used to fix small issues. Even with the best singers, it's used. If you get a GREAT take and a singer nails an entire verse, but just one note is _slightly_ sharp or flat, it'll be tuned to match the rest of the take. ...and the amount of tuning done is so minimal that 90% of people wouldn't even know the difference. However, if I have a singer who is completely off pitch and terrible, I'm not going to use tuning to fix that. I'm going to make them sing until they get the take properly. Tuning can also be used artistically to create really unique harmonies and pads that wouldn't be possible with organic takes. Back in the day singers would just do the take over, and over, and over, and over, and over until they finally got it. ..and like you said, there was still "studio magic" back then too. Almost every song ever recorded has been "touched up" and "fixed". That's literally what recording is. You're trying to get the best possible representation of your song. :) Musicians should be judged on their writing and live performance. Studio recordings are a whole different animal IMO.
@dougaltolan30172 жыл бұрын
You underestimate how auto tune works. There is absolutely no reason it HAS to tweak a pitch to the nearest contemporary Western scale. It is simpler to build a device that will latch onto a secondary input. In that case all you need for reference is a keyboard.

Really high level harmony stuff, this isn't amateur stuff where they just sounded good and came up with some stuff, this is really high level intelligent harmony, they do a lot of things most singers wouldn't think of, they don't really go to the 'easy' harmony, it's all very unique.

@LyonsArcade2 жыл бұрын
Yup, a lot of people think the autotune is because the singer needs it, too many times in modern music they put autotune on everybody, including those that don't need it, and it smooths out all the character and makes them all sound similar. Really does a disservice to the singer, a lot of the modern women singing don't have a chance at LEGEND status because they have nothing that's their own, the voices are all sterlized with Auto Tune. That girl BeBe Rexha is a great example, she has a great voice but they autotune the hell out of it when she doesn't need it.
