Casey, I was on the road for 9 yrs. Three of them were in motels of questionable quality; to put it nicely. The next 6 yrs. I lived on the road in a van. I wasn't a vandweller/vanlifer or any of that just a guy wanting to sleep peacefully in a place I had more control over ie; clean sheets, clean floor and I could cook. One of the places I found that worked real real well was the parking lots of those, supposedly, clean Corp. Motels. Nobody has any idea who's in the parking lot or who's sleeping where. I was so bold as to plug into there outside outlets that customers use in winter to keep there car engines warm. Just a thought.

@@ChristiaHall Not sure where you live but I've done this all over the Midwest& northwest. Could be different on either coast where it is more congested. Here they don't use security guards. @@occipitalneuralgia2339 I think, unless you've spent time in the rural west/Midwest this conversation will go nowhere. I don't live in a van, but I do live in a truck. Well most of the time anyway. I cook a lot of meals also. But I keep it simple. You might look into the rewards cards from truck stops. You can get points for stuff, and maybe even shower credits. They can be a good place to park as well. Just park up front . There is a very bad parking shortage for trucks. Petro and T/A usually have the bigger lots. Great videos !

I think that the America The Beautiful passes ($80 annual) are worth it as you can access National parks, Federal Recreational Areas, and Army Corps of Engineers properties across the country for free, and camp for free or for super low fees. There are plenty of facilities east of the Rockies & Mississippi. Some State Parks also offer discount rates for national access card holders. A beautiful state park up the road from us gives a 50% discount to people who have the federal access pass. When we did a lot of camping/traveling the KOA Gold Member card turned out to be worth the price. The amount of the discounts depend on the individual locations but we were able to get a few sites with hookups for under $20 a night and many more in the $20-$25 dollar range. Sometimes the large Truck Stop chains are good for overnight parking if you don't mind the noise. The good ones have showers & laundry facilities for customers.

I was born and raised in inner city Detroit (way back when, ha) and have lived and camped on BLM land in Utah many times since living here on and off since 1991. I AM a born badass and there is NO way I would ever stay on BLM land by myself. You are so right about that. On top of that, it isn't always easy to tell where BLM land ends and some trigger happy rancher's land begins. Plus the quality of the road can be pretty rough on those cargo vans. We always have people parking their live in vehicles of all types in our Walmarts and no one seems to mind. Heck, I keep waiting for Walmarts to take part of their massive store and provide "pay to use" shower facilities, because its become so much more popular to travel and sleep in one's vehicle. Really enjoy your vlogs except for one thing...you totally ruined my ability to watch a few of the other vlogs. Not that I had anything in common with the vegan, man-bun, yoga instructors...but some of their builds are pretty cool. Wishing you nothing but safe travels and fresh hummus, thanks.

This usually takes a little research but if traveling in the plains states KS, NE, OK the small towns sometimes have a place you can stay overnight at a local park. Those states are not tourist destinations and offer it to travelers probably hoping you might get gas or food there. No guarantee it will be listed on freecampsites. What I do is find the small town's webpage, which many have, and see if it is mentioned. It is usually cheap or free for a few days. Some have full hookups and have bathrooms for the park if the temps are above freezing.
