There was loads of chances to see she was a psycho, but they ignored it. Imagine finding her in his wife's clothes and not sacking her, and not even telling the wife. I remember this film! Wow I recorded it on VHS. :D I chuckled at the time that the girl had the same name as I did (uncommon in those days). Yes the film was campy, but also surprisingly chilling. The stony blank look that Joanna gives to the guy when he falls overboard still stays in my memory. I always wonder why Tara never told anyone that Joanna never tried to help him. The scenes where she wanders her old employers' home & talks to 'people'....still stays in my memory too. I always admired Stephanie Zimbalist, I wish she still acted.

This family has a LOT of issues. Alcoholism & loneliness are only some of them. The father is lonely but also horny lol....he doesn't say anything to his wife because he doesn't really want Joanna to leave. He is likely flattered by her hitting on him, also. The mom was also intensely troubled & Joanna manipulated her emotionally too.

She murdered an entire family and attempted to kill another family. She was dangerous. But there's only one cop arresting her and the other one stood waiting by the patrol car. That's horrible police work. They should have handcuffed her when she was arrested, instead of packing an overnight bag. That's really weird.

I agree! But abig part of the responsibility is the PARENTS. We had electronics too (different sort, but still had 'em!) when I was growing up. But we were NOT ALLOWED to have access to them 24/7. We had to go outside to play or visit a friend or help with housework or help with pets or read a book! A flash back to the days when the desktop computer was just introduced as a commercial item. Note that computer terminals were around before the “big bang” in the 90’s !!! Government offices, airports, airlines, planes, banks, travel agencies, insurance companies etc. all had computers….. think back to late 20th century (1800’s) and early 21st century (1900’s) !!!! Stephanie Zimbalist did a fantastic job in this role. It was not the best job for Patty Duke. It's not her type of role. The same goes for William Shatner but he sure was handsome. The music also a little to dramatic.
