I play this heaps - love it - my Diane passed in 2015 after 34 years of enjoying her beautiful company, and raising a lovely family. Was 8 years ago, and cancers a real bast@#@d......and she fought it for 13 years. As for The Bachelors - absolutely a brilliant collaboration of harmonies on multiple tunes. So sad to hear that Con had passed.

I remember The Bachelors. They were around in late 50's and 60's. They had two hits that I loved, one was this song Diane and the other was Marie Elania.

A D-28E and a OO-18E - Martin's first entry into the electric guitar field was the D-18E soon followed by these two guitars. They never caught on and only lasted a couple of years late fifties/early sixties.

Thank you for posting this spectacular performance of "Diane (I'm in Heaven When I See You Smile)". The best perfomance of this old song from 1927, but recorded later by the Bachelors in 1964. You can listen to a prior version by with vocals by The Troubadours conducted by Nat Shilkret in 1928: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnzPpp-el8aHq6M

One of the best ever recorded. Live music with no studio enhancement. A truly wonderful trio from Ireland who had more talent in their souls than anything that spews out today, and over the last forty years. That,s mainly why I prefer to just read the telephone directory instead of having to put up with the no talents spewing out their CRAP.

@tonymarcus18274 жыл бұрын
@@CCT-kp9rm Actually, you're both wrong...it was written in 1927 for the original silent film of Seventh Heaven. This version was recorded in the 1960s, but the original was 40 years old...it's also started out as a waltz.
@gastion0002 жыл бұрын
@@tonymarcus1827 It was written for a silent film? Well, it says so on Wikipedia and yet...
@tonymarcus18272 жыл бұрын
@@gastion000 There was lots of music written for silent films. Theaters hired musicians (a piano or organ player for the smaller houses, but sometimes full bands for the movie palaces) to play while the film was shown , and the sales of sheet music were still a very big deal. If a movie was a hit, the publisher could sell hundreds of thousands of copies of the music.

Yeah, could be in 1964 from billboard entry on April 1964.
