I take you on a tour of Foxhall, which is the oldest area of Blackpool. This is a sort of follow up video to my first ever vlog in the town, which was a big hit and set me on a mission to do many more videos. Music: looperman.com

Great to see "old Jack" he has been on that corner for several years giving free fashion advice. I once went to him just before a night out and he recommended a blue scarf to offset the red jacket. I took his advice and have never received so many compliments on my outfit. He is well known for refusing money "give it to the kids" is his usual reply.

Seeing areas locally that I have never seen before in some of your videos , looks like the Bronx , certainly wouldn't go into these areas at night ....... Keep on posting 👍
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Martin Its a bit unfair to call a bad area The Bronx nowadays as I’m sure it’s a whole lot less notorious than it used to be. Yes, this area is not great & some of the local natives are quite interesting.

@kaykelly-toole743 жыл бұрын
You'd think that it was the first residential area in Blackpool the council would take care of it more. Unfortunately, not always councils fault. I've seen places be raided for drug dens etc. I feel bad for people who are trying to run a guest house round there .

I used to go to Blackpool every year with my family when I was a kid from 1959 and we always stayed at no 11 Bairstow St every year, it was the grey double fronted one that you showed in this video it was lovely then...Its so sad to see how downhill its got. We never saw drunks in the Streets. What's got into Blackpool council letting it get to this sorry state.

I was brought up in a subhurb in East London, South Africa during the 60's /70's in what was described as a low class area. It was so bad that at the end of month when people got their wages and the majority was spent on alcohol (thank goodness not in our household) the fights were so bad that the police wouldn't even come out if called. We might have been poor but the community stuck together and helped those who were worse off. Through hard work the majority of us managed to better ourselves and make a success of our lives. People need to remember its not where you come from BUT where you are going to thats important. I wouldn't change a day of my childhood growing up in the so called slum area, it made me who I am today.

Another great video, definitely not a good place to be walking down on your own in the dark, it looked bad enough in daylight. My late Mum and Brother had a family hotel in Blackpool until 2005, in Osborne Road near the Peasure Beach. 👍

Good spot that, an oldish looking sign too. I have rarely noticed street name signs on a mid terrace at a T junction. It would be useful if it was like this at every junction, like in the USA.

I stayed in a BnB on Bairstow Street throughout the whole of August (Kirkstead Hotel would highly recommend). Not once did I feel as unsafe as many comments make out in this area. Foxhall Road has a few pubs on it so you might see the odd drunk or two but I never felt in any danger.

Great. You covered a lot of ground in this video. The first thing that surprised me is the size of the electric trolley, it's larger than light rail. the people mover-trolleys in Vegas are small compared to your trolley. So, Blackpool has normally, a sizable number of tourists... There weren't a lot of really old, more historical buildings that I saw, but I did see at least three areas where a architectural style was pretty clear. On the right, a block down I saw what looked like a late 60's, 70's, bright colored, residential area...

Does anyone else remember Tyldesley High School named after the Tyldesley family? My almer mater..lol..closed in the 80s and many would say good riddance! I was there when the Tv series Grange Hill first started. People were saying the Tv fictional school was shockingly bad...at Tyldesley we just thought it was hilariously unreal.
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool4 жыл бұрын
Thanks June. I actually went to Tyldesley School, but it was only for certain lessons, as my own school Knowle High (formerly Palatine) had merged with Tyldesley. There is now a block of flats where Tyldesley was, on Beech Avenue.

...hmmmmm, but won't this put visitors off when the town's hotels and guest houses are struggling to survive due to the virus restrictions ? Every town in the country has grot spots ....but why are people saying this area is dangerous - are drug dealers operating in this area and are people being stabbed ? If everyone had a 'staycation' and stopped going to the Spanish, Turkish or Greek resorts just to fry on a beach and spent their money here instead , then things would improve a lot .....er...wouldn't they ?!
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool4 жыл бұрын
It will put some off, but probably the sort that wouldn't come here anyway. Still, I've never felt unsafe around these streets, despite the problems.

Great video Sir 👍 is this perceived a bad neighbourhood in Blackpool? Obviously there a lot of buildings boarded up etc but Bairstow Street looked pleasant with some lovely looking guest houses. Obviously some of the clientele in the area also didn’t look brilliant. Keep them coming Mr Blackpool 👍
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool4 жыл бұрын
That's right. There are some well kept guest houses in this area. Shame about some of the locals. I had to modify the audio on the 2nd clip of the drunk man due to him using potentially criminal abusive language against a fellow resident of the flats.
