After the events of the show, Tasha was hired by Dreamworks to play the role of Glória in the Madagascar films, slowly becoming a millionaire and a successful superstar, and Austin went on a journey, seeking spiritual enrichment, and later reincarnating as Lord Beerus (he knows how to read hieroglyphs.) Tyrone, Uniqua and Pablo were kidnapped by Nickelodeon, which did several dark, cruel scientific experiments on the trio, resulting in... whatever this is. Poor Backyardigans, our backyard friends did not deserve this horrible fate, F in the chat. :(

I can’t believe it. International Super Spy is my favorite episode from The Backyardigans, basically my number 1 favorite. I used to pretend to be Pablo from International Super Spy and talk like him as a super spy, especially with the apple juice. I also liked singing International Super Spy. Tyrone was the Lady in Pink’s sidekick, it doesn’t seem right to have him be a spy too. Seeing that makes me absolutely hate what they did with my childhood favorite episode.

I've rewatched that one a bunch of times and I agree. It was a really great episode. It's funny seeing how each of the areas they went to correspond with the items from it A glass from the glass building. Milk from Dare-Dairy Farm And chocolate syrup from Tiki Island which most likely had cacao(?) trees there

Ok Glad to know this style is confirmed for just these “updated music videos” if Backyardigan’s is going to inevitably get a more PROPER reboot I want something more along the lines of the Blue’s Clues & You reboot where the core root and structure of the series is still in tact with slight and minor changes here and there nothing major but just enough for the reboot to throw on it’s own spin on things:3 heck I might even work on a fan made concept for a PROPER reboot! I do think Backyardigan’s deserves a proper 2nd chance at a proper revival tv series!

FYI, there’s a playlist of the reboot music videos (some unlisted). I watched through their playlist of the music videos and not ONCE do they EVER feature Tasha and Austin. And some of those reboot songs DIDN’T include Austin in it when he was present in those songs in the OG show.

Someone (I forget if it was on KZbin or Tumblr) described the new Backyardigans as a "gentrified" version, and, the more I think about it, the more fitting a description that is?! It is changing the show from its original vision, and it feels so _sinister_ knowing the creator passed away this same year. I've heard people praise the show for Janice Burgess putting in the work to have POC and black artists front and centre in the show (voice acting) so that, as kids, they were able to see themselves in the show (which was less common during that era of kids television). I think we're losing that aspect in the new version.

Also less than 1 hour ago as I'm typing this, The Backyardigans - Official KZbin channel just uploaded the full episode of "Whodunit" in HD, so at least they are still giving us ways to enjoy the original show in-between these garbage remake songs that are just mindless filler content.
