Very well done! Such a sad story of families fighting kin, blood shed because those in power thought they knew best. Many of those never saw a battle and couldn't care less the price we paid. Hopefully, God has granted them rest in peace.

Umm...I don't know who you are, but this is amazing. Do you have any other music or would you ever consider making more historical-themed music?

Sorry, David for the 7-year delay but I just found your message. I don't keep up with my song posts very well. Thank you for listening to this song and for your kind words. Unfortunately I don't have any other music similar to this style of music. This was one I wrote for the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh.I'm originally from Corinth, MS which is only 20 miles from where this historic battle took place. I've been interested in the Battle of Shiloh (and Corinth) and the Civil War since I was in high school. I felt inspired to attempt to write about it back in 1987 just a couple of months before the anniversary. I was honored that the song was deemed the official song of the re-enactment. Thanks again for your interest!

I recently found one of my family ancestors who fought & Died in the Shiloh Hill Battle. He had two brothers we knew their story but barley. Story that was passed down was.= Two brothers who fought Civil War. As the War Ended One was shot in leg other made crutch put arm around & took them 6 Months to walk home from N.C. to Chilton Al. Close to Grovehill Al. - what I found in the Archives. Three Brothers left to fight in the 4th Alabama Infantry. They Fought at Shiloh Hill Battle. Issah Bedsole was hit & Died in Civil War Hospital. He was 20 yrs old. We Did Not Know His Story. His brother Travis Bedsole was 21. He or the other Brother was shot in leg. ! As the Family got news War Ended they thought they lost all three of them. For Six Months. Until they limped home. They had a Close First Cousin who lived Near. Rafael Bedsole who Fought with the 32nd Alabama Infantry. They fought four major Battles last being Fort Blakeley Battle. He survived & Built a store W. Bank of the Al Tombigbee River in CoffeeVille Al. Very successful & was running for State Senate as a Republican. & Have a political speech there & a Dr Love= Running Against Him as a Democrat Poisoned Rafe Bedsole as they seen him as a threat to their power base in Grovehill Al. This story is in the book about my Ancestors the MITCHUM BEAT WAR. Clark Co Alabama. Hope Someone Enjoyed What I Posted. Their Stories Deserve to NEVER DIE....

YES, my Great GF was injured in this battle escaping to Corinth, Mississippi as the CSA vacated the battle field in all directions. He nursed his injury in seclusion calling it quits to walk the entire distance to Fountain Hill, AR (Ashley County) to keep his horrible experience sparsely told to my grandmother except the fact it took him more than a month to walk the distance and swim all the rivers in between living on berries, rabbits, and birds. His name was Samuel Carter and I found his name just as my grandmother told me in the book of archives a Shiloh Park Ranger showed me in 1972 before computer archives now available. What a horrible battle as my heart aches for those CSA soldiers buried in mass graves of trenches without a gravestone in this Yankee burial ground.

The majority of the song is easy to understand but there are small, yet important parts that I just can't quite make out the words to.
