My father served 24 years as a Green Beret. He was in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. My father crossed the bridge before 3 am. yesterday morning. At the expense of his family, my father fought for our freedom. He would gladly fight again today. He was 4 months short of 95 years old. Please salute him as he is transitioning ❤

I cried. When my family lost my oldest brother Dwight in the Vietnam conflict (1968) my family went completely anti-military and anti-America. My older brother threatened to cripple me if I joined the military. Unfortunately, three branches of the service wouldn’t take me because of medical reasons. Recently while visiting with an old friend who served we went to the target range together, along with a former special forces Captain. After a day of target, shooting, talking, sharing stories, the good Captain gave me one of his challenge coins. He explained that he only gives them to members of his military family. I then said to him “Captain, I’m not worthy of this. I’m not in military” he insisted that I take it telling me in his own words “You have the heart of a soldier!“ for a civilian to receive such a gift is truly a high honor.

I was one of those tested, in my group I was fourth out of one hundred. This song means alot not just to me but to those who earned the right to wear the beret, and to the families of the men who will never be coming back. This song is not something you compare to other songs, this is a ballad of tribute from one man to another. Treat it with respect.

The ones who are being negative of how these beautiful women choose to honor the Green Berets. This wasn't a music lesson or try out for some competition, this is a honor to those brave soldiers who earn that coveted Beret. I'm going to assume those negative comments came from ppl who did not serve.

I grew up learning to respect those who fought for our freedom and others freedom. I come from a military background going back to the civil war. I lost my great uncle to the Vietnam war, he was a green beret. He sacrificed his life so someone else didn't have to. Every time I listen to this song I think of him and all the other hero's that aren't here today.

These two ladies are the sweetest most patriotic duo. They spend their days traveling, hugging and thanking service members, families and veterans. From the onset, the performance they did for us here, began with a complete attribution to the song's author. There was no teleprompter they followed, I know because we filmed it and didn't have one for them. They sing and tap to bring smiles and honor to those who have served. I know because I myself served and think what they do is admirable. There are millions of people around the world who make a living performing the songs written by others, in different manners, styles and artistic ways. What was done here is in absolute honor and recognition of the song's creator and in no way meant to disrespect him nor any memory of his own performances. I do believe we should all stand back and simply enjoy this art for what it is, a tribute to the Green Beret and the families of the fallen. That is what Barry Sadler wrote about and sung about and the same goes for the ladies in this video. Thank you to the Sadler family for honoring their father and his art he gave to the world. Thank you to 'Letters from Home Singers,' for using their voices to honor service members and their families and for giving attribution first and foremost and respect in every performance they do.

Beautiful job ladies. I am 83 years old and served two tours in Sunny Vietnam. One with the 4th Inf Div and one with the Americal Div. I earned a purple heart on each tour and was medivaced both times. It's not about me but this is all about you two ladies and the beautiful job you did. At first, when I saw you two standing there it reminds me of those old time songs singing about WWII, but that soon vanished. I am Airborne qualified and served in 11th Airborne Div and 82nd but not in combat. This info is for any buddies I might have served with. NOW, back to the stars of this video. I have heard several well meaning folks that have tried to sing this song, but you two are right up there at the top. Bless you both and remember GOD is watching you. I was just a child when this song came out. My mom who just passed away a couple weeks ago bought the album back then and I played it every chance I got. I have listened to many many persons sing it and never thought anyone did it injustice. These ladies did it beyond my wildest expectations. I immediately got goosebumps and tears. I could picture the troops marching to this as the ladies were performing. I never turn down or bypass listening to this. My mom never stopped me from playing it. i think in part because it honored our troops. And part because her brother was a POW in WW 2. In notes we found after her passing she wrote that he left as a boy and came home as a broken man. It brings back memories of men reporting for the draft and then going to war. Some coming back and many didn't. Every night I'd watch the evening news and Walter Cronkite reporting the fatalities. When I turned 18 I registered for the draft. Carried my card all through high-school. I graduated in 73 just after the war ended and they started bringing our men home.

Thank you for your remembrance and for your respect. We're getting old now but I remember my tours in Vietnam like they were yesterday. I completed almost four tours there. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. The Vietnamese are good people who hold high values and love of their country. From the destruction of war, they have built a strong viable, and united country. I am very glad that we are now on the path to mutual cooperation and friendship.

Beautiful words Jacqueline As a young Boy I tried so hard to become a Royal Marine .The second attempt severely damaged my Left Knee. The original Green Berets were the Royal Marines of ww2.Friends who I trained with joined the SBS and they hold Your Green Berets in the highest regard.I love singing this song it reminds me of the brave people that are what we call Tier 1 operators.SAS/SEALS/SBS/GREEN BERETS who put themselves in harms way everyday.God bless them
