Good video work and you see how hard that tugboats must work, it is almost the same position as in the Panama canal last year,

The aft tug has put all the weight on her starboard quarter and stood directly in the line of fire is people on the bank! I’m surprised the MSC wasn’t there making sure everyone was stood clear with the way H&S is today! ⚓️🦈

Is there a slight list to starboard?
@thomasgreen17397 ай бұрын
Yes slightly they transferred ballast water from the port side to reduce her draft

why did the ship's engines not provide some power to assist the tugs?
@christopherdavies91117 ай бұрын
Because the ships propeller/rudder are embedded in the muddy bank,it would cause untold damage to the main engine and propulsion shafts if they were to start it .

Probably due in part to insufficient dredging. False economy’..

So steerage is obviously the most likely cause,why would you think it’s “probably due to insufficient dredging”....? 🤷♂️
@ecossearthur6 ай бұрын
@@markhepworth dredging all over this area is poor at best just a very narrow passage channel for such a large ship. Takes but a hair out of place to catch the bulbous and drag it in to the bank... So yes steerage... Root cause.... Insufficient dredging...
@markhepworth6 ай бұрын
@@ecossearthur I just don’t know how you can be so sure,keeping a long vessel in a dead straight channel is actually pretty hard,and even a medium wind can make it very difficult,problems with steerage are relatively common,but the most obvious potential is just plain old human error.

It's such a narrow passage for ships to sail thru... Not much depth too...
