As a Ravens fan I'll say that the blame was 35% on Monken (abandoned the run, bad play calling, no slants, no creativity), 20% on Lamar (supposed to be the leader, yet gets desperate way to fast, did not take what KC gave him, BAD interception), 15% on Harbaugh (common denominator in the last decade of failures), 15% on Zay (BAD fumble and dumb taunting, would be more, but just a rookie) and 15% on the oline (horrible throughout the game). The Defense (with Macdonald) is the only unit exempt from fault, the got torched early on by Mahomes-Kelce, but they actually adjusted and had a fantastic 2nd half. They did their job! Sad how things ended...
@jonwicked70319 ай бұрын
I feel more like 25% monken 30% Lamar 10% o line 10% zay 25% Harbaugh . Lamar had 2 turnovers and 0 TDs no excuse for that as an MVP caliber QB. Monken yea he didn’t do the run thing and that’s bad but Harbaugh should’ve called him out so they got equal blame , o line wasn’t terrible Lamar just held the ball too long . Zay did the right thing and try to get a TD in hindsight it was a horrible play but it was just a good defensive play which our defense played great so no excuse for that to be game ending
@navonmyhand79999 ай бұрын
I would have to agree but maybe 20 on Harbaugh for getting outcoached (again) and not settling Monken/Lamar down, or likely even being the one to get them set on trying to play desperate catchup while only down 2 scores. It's a recurring problem that's existed before 2018 and in 2022 while Lamar was injured. I'd bring Zay down to 10 because he was balling for most of the game, the taunting is dumb on his part but I think some guys get away with that so he just has to know not to risk it.

@navonmyhand79999 ай бұрын
After the games last week, someone said something along the lines of "Three teams this week came prepared and played to their strengths and core identity. Then there were the Baltimore Ravens" and I couldn't help but feel like that's what frustrated me so much. KC Chiefs played their brand of football, and even though they got shut out the second half they did enough on offense. The Detroit Lions played their brand of football, aggressive to the end. The San Fran Niners played their brand of football, got down big and still came back to win it. The Ravens got down a bit and freaked out... again. I'm not of the belief that Harbaugh has to go (there are much worse options) but I struggle to see Baltimore make it all the way with this specific and consistent issue that comes from coaching. Monken and Lamar should come back more poised and ready for adjustments but to me it always feels like the offense is playing against itself in January which is so concerning.

Great take, and hell even throw Herbert into that basket if they somehow break the Charger curse What encourages me as a Ravens fan is that Lamar had obvious weaknesses in this game: at times he was big game hunting, ignoring his check downs and ignoring his legs; and he wasn't confident in his deep ball under duress. Those aren't things he did earlier in the year, its a combination of a really good defense and inexperience in the moment. That said, the Chiefs entire defensive game plan was built around those two weaknesses and it took some amazing play by the Chiefs defense (which will be missing either their top cover player or top rusher next year) to pull out the win. The Ravens will probably take a step backwards on defense, but there is no reason to believe they can't be at least as good on offense with significant investments at OT and RB.

@@renaldoawes2210 Sometimes the MVP Award isn't decided by stats. In this case with Lamar, it was decided by how much he grew as a leader, and as a passer throughout the season. I know the AFC Championship was a dud, but that was because Lamar and OC Todd Monken got outsmarted thanks to how Kansas City was aligning their defense. As someone who was at that AFC Title game, I noticed that every time Lamar tried changing plays and he did of a lot that, it didn't fool the Chiefs at all because they too were changing coverages before he got ready to snap the ball. That was the only time this season where Jackson was outsmarted when it came to in-play audibles. And remember under Roman, he never really changed plays that often, but under Monken he did more of that than any previous year. Not to mention his passing mechanics were also improved. Some of those games that they won during the regular season as well as the playoff game against the Texans, Lamar won those games with his arm and his ability to read a defense. The issue 2 weeks ago was that the Chiefs beat him at his own game. I know you're going to bring up the stats but here's my counterargument. Gus Edwards had 14 rushing TDs in 2023, and 13 of them were inside the 10-yard line. If Lamar cared about his stats more than winning, he'd have over 40 TDs on the year. The reason he didn't is because he made the choice of letting his run game do the work inside the 10. Although I will not be surprised if the Chiefs do to the 49ers what they did to the Ravens and Bills which is confusing Brock Purdy into making mistakes and taking them out of their gameplan. It also helps KC that Steve Spagnuolo is the modern-day Dick Lebeau.

Not a ravens fan so I'm not 100% informed on what went wrong this season but from what I've seen out of them is that they rely way too much on lamars legs and just the run game in general, once you shut that out they obviously struggle with passing and since flowers is the only receiver who can really get open consistently it makes it harder on lamars flawed passing ability, I know baltimore has other players this FA to resign or let go but they really should prioritize another receiver for lamar who's preferably young, doubt it'll happen but tee higgins hitting FA could be a good addition, like I said tho I don't watch ravens games 😂

I blame lamar as a lamar fan. Last time the ravens started out rough lamar went in the locker room cursed people out and the coaches said he made most of the adjustments. His refusal to run, his inaccuracy on the deep balls, and bad reads had ALOT to do with that loss

As a Bears fan this Ravens team gives me both hope and panic. The hope is Fields can be as good as Lamar in the regular season. The panic is he is as bad as him in the playoffs. It makes the off-season of “draft Williams or build around Fields” that much more exciting. Also the Roquan trade will hinge on both how good Dexter is in Yr2 and if the money saved getting Edmunds and Edwards was better than just paying Roquan. So far Edwards is one of the biggest FA steals in Bears history while Edmunds had boom and bust moments.

Baltimore, Miami and Dallas have the same problem. They can only go as far as the QB will take them. As for MVP, Lamar Jackson is a true winner for what the award was attended for. Most valuable player for his team. The award has morphed into best player in the league. He is one of the weakest to win that award. Statistics show that.

A lot of people are downplaying the Ravens offense this game, deservingly so, but are overlooking at how ELITE the Chiefs defense actually is. Everyone is saying that the Ravens are done, they won't make the playoffs in 2024, the AFC North will be dominated by both Ohio teams, and Lamar Jackson will massively regress to the point in which the Ravens move on from him in a year. THATS WHERE YOU'RE WRONG! Why? Because this same nonsense was said about this team back in 2011 when they lost to the Patriots in the AFC Championship. They all thought the defense wouldn't be the same with Chuck Pagano gone, they only made it to the AFC Title Game because Peyton Manning was injured, and the Steelers had a down year, Joe Flacco sucks in big games, John Harbaugh is a choker, their division now with Cincy and Cleveland on the way up is impossible to win, and how will they ever recover from losing the way they did? THAT TEAM WON THE SUPER BOWL THE VERY NEXT SEASON! And yes that team wasn't as dominant and didn't have as much talent as they did in 2011, but what they did have was mental toughness and determination. Especially considering who they faced in the playoffs that year. This Ravens team could very well do just that. They probably won't be as good in the regular season next year as they were this year only by a game or two but don't let that deceive you. Although who am I kidding, the NFL is turning into what the NBA was in the 1990s.

Besides the Ravens beat the Bengals twice with Burrow playing in both games, and the reason that Baltimore won was because they shredded Cincy's defense. I don’t know who to blame because I don’t know if Lamar was truly optioning out of runs pre snap or not. I tend to doubt it. Lamar is an elite football player but not necessarily an elite passer of the football. The whole reason their run game and offense works so well is because of how deceptively Lamar and company are able to rpo. When they run, whether it’s lamar or the RB, you don’t know who has the ball until they are beyond the line of scrimmage and when they pass off of rpo, frequently there’s a guy wide open because a lb or db has bitten on the run. So why oh why did they just abandon what made that offense hum? They had everything going this year entering the playoffs healthy as the best team in the nfl. They may have just squandered the best chance they will ever have of winning a ring with this group.🤷🏻♂️

I feel like the ravens will sign back Madubuike and stone. We have a replacement for Patrick queen in Trenton Simpson who looked really good. His speed along with a mentoring Roquan smith makes him scary. David Ojabo will also be coming back next year, and he himself has had atleast a sack and forced fumble in half of his games. Knowing the ravens we’ll likely sign a veteran guard and rotate the two. Odafe Oweh has improved big time from last season. I’m not too worried. DeAndre Swift is a good option at RB however I wouldn’t be upset if we didn’t pick him up. Keaton Mitchell was a beast before he went down. Barring any retirement I see the ravens signing a veteran physical receiver like Mike evans or even D-Hop. I’m worried about our tackles though. I think the ravens will trade Ronnie Stanley and some other picks/assets to the titans and take Joe Alt. Ronnie Stanley has been terrible this year.

Ojabo will coming off his 2nd serious injury, counting on him for anything? Is hopeful to see the least. He had one sack in 2 and a half games. He also looked woeful against the run in those games and throughout the pre-season. Oweh? Come on now, Van Noy and Clowney were the main starters. Oweh was almost an afterthought at times. Mitchell is tiny and injury prone, that rarely works out well.
