I was at this show, my first stadium gig. Clapton was drunk and disappointing to say the least after waiting all day for him. At age 13 it was a great day the band was great! Freddie King was a special guest and out preformed Clapton.

Olboots,,I read Levon's book also,,Their is a saying out their ''you can't believe everything you read...Their are 2 sides to every story...What about the part of Levon's book where Rick talks about all the money he made on a half of a writers credit for the song ''this wheel's on fire'' How come Levon wasn't calling out Rick,,and it was a lot of money too..This Robbie bashing is getting old,,The truth is when Levon quit and went down south,,Robbie became the leader and turned the band from a rock blues band ( levon and the hawks ) to the first ever true Americana band...Garth Hudson recently stated this...

@catbedo like I said, great songwriter who would go on to take FULL credit for songs like Chest Fever... even though Manuel/Helm wrote the lyrics and Hudson wrote the defining melody.

He didn't compose the written music... He does write some pretty damn meaningful lyrics, though.
