I can't listen to this version very often. My face is filled with tears now, but it's joy. Levon is one of my favorite people. He was everything and he was nothing. If fame hadn't found him, I imagine there would have been great music coming from somebody's screen porch somewhere in the countryside. Thank God he did leave us these recordings though.

This is from Bob Dylan’s 30th anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden. I was lucky enough to be at this show. My ticket was behind the stage- so we took a shot. Levon Helms shares his heart and soul with us when he sings. Danko too. It's a shame how bands like this fade. It's also a shame that Robbie never allowed the other members the credit they deserved. The discography and the catalog as a whole would be nothing without the entire group. It's their voices that made the band the band

All this Robbie hatred is so unjustified. You see comments like "Robbie would be nothing without Levon and Rick" (not I think here but on plenty of Band videos). Well probably yes if you accept that Levon and Rick would be nothing without Robbie - the whole point of a band is that it's more than the sum of its parts. I never heard Robbie say or write a bad word about the others and the first thing he did at HoF induction was to thank them. A musician with an ego - whatever next!
