People are still waiting for 20th Century Boys to be given the same treatment as other Naoki Urasawa manga like Yawara!, Master Keaton, Pluto and his magnum opus, Monster. Compared to these titles 20th Century Boys has twice more volumes and chapters. There are other Naoki Urasawa manga that have yet to receive an anime adaptation like Billy Bat and Asadora, the letter which is still ongoing. P.S. Urasawa co-created Master Keaton with 2 other people, Hokusei Katsushika and Takashi Nagasaki. The former has been dead for 9 years while the latter is still alive and well. Nagasaki is one of the few mangaka who writes stories for manga but can't draw manga.

I agree to having bad names banned. Like the poor girl who i knew that had a name that made the teachers uncomfortable so they called her kitty or cat instead. Its starts with a P and its a nickname of a female part. There wouldn't need to be bans on names if parents used common sense or the 7 yr. and nurse/teacher methods. The 7yrs. Method is simple: say the name to a little kid. If they laugh or make fun of it. Kids when they get to school will too. Nurse method also simple, and they will do this if asked. Give them a piece on a paper with the name. If they cant say it or mess it up too badly. Its a bad name. This doesnt apply to any properly spelled names.

To expand on the Portuguese name bit - If a child is born in Portugal, and of Portuguese parents, then they have to have a Portuguese name, such as Maria, Pedro, Paulo, Joana, José, so on. But, if they're an immigrant, or a child of immigrant parents, the ban is lifted, and they can be named any number of foreign names. So, for example, Micaela is fine, Michelle is only fine if your parents aren't Portuguese natives.

I had a friend in high school that went by her nickname "Cleo" until she could get it legally changed to that. In one of the most cruel twists of Fate I can think of, when her mother was in the delivery room they gave her painkillers. She was still high as a kite when they asked what she wanted to name her daughter... She said "chlamydia". Because it sounded pretty. The fact that it flew over the heads of the doctors and under the radar until she was 18 absolutely astounds me. Edit: I feel like I should probably add a bit more context. Her mother was vietnamese. Iirc The civil rights leader named A.H. does a lot of work for getting education and communication services to rural communities. He got his name because his family was so isolated from modern society that his parents' only understanding of the name A.H. was that it was a white-sounding name (the area had historically been a colony of Germany) and therefore would help him with work and trade if he ventured to the cities. Okay, but the king (or whoever writes documentation and responses on behalf of the king for name change requests) writing a letter to be like “sorry, I can’t let you do that. But if you request when you’re a little older I might reconsider it” really handled it well. Even if I’d imagine that’s probably the general response to anyone under 18 wanting a name change aside from exceptional circumstances, it doesn’t go as harsh as many of the name change rejections often do, and is like “hey, if you really like the name, I’ll consider it properly at 18. Just give it some thought until then.” The kid probably just had a hyper fixation, and grew out of the intent a few years later. Or they may have decided to keep up the bit after they turned 18, but at that point they’re reasonably taking on the consequences of their actions if any come forth.

I used to work for an Institution that was associated to Civil Registry, I had to capture the names of dead people in a system, and I can assure the most cruel names I witness someone had was: Neófita (Neophyte), Eutanasia (Euthanasia) and Calzón (Underpants).

This was super interesting. A lot of these names are truly atrocious, and I feel awful for the kids. But on the bright side, I love the story of the guy changing his name to Santa Claus and doing charity work, it's super heartwarming. On a different note, I've been binge watching a ton of Claymation stuff lately, especially Will Vinton, Aardman, and Cosgrove Hall stuff, and I wish the medium had more love.

Also vaguely recall a story about a child or teen wanting to or succesfully change their name to something like "Captain Flash Faster Than Spiderman Superman Hulk" Something LIKE that I dunno if I got all the names in there. Don't know how that ended.

america's first amendment basically allows way too many random things and so many people want to torture their children. it was on the news because a airline got in trouble because the employees were making fun of a girl's name because it was "Abcde". they literally just used the first 5 letters and said it's pronounced ab-cee-dee. that shouldn't happen.

Do you know what happened Phantom Stater? This is what happened went to the dog show. Unfortunately I’ve got very the dogs were very loud and I got autism. And I passed out, and then we went back home to get a McDonald’s. I had two large fries, six chicken nuggets and a McFlurry that was a Maltesers one drove back to my apartment and watch some Disney+.

France banned twins being called Port and Starboard, there is Jihad and a couple others ones, all that would lead to heavy bullying for the kids. It seems a lot of parents wants to be known for having a special unique name without ever considering about bullying. I have a name that is an old french term and I was bullied for it, so having names like those banned would have been just adding fuel to the fire.

My favorite bizarre names (probably should be banned) were Abcde (pronounced Ab-sid-ee), Shithead (pronounced Shi-thay-d), and Usnavy (pronounced Oos-nah-vee). I get that names can become overly common, like a class one of my nieces was in had five Chloes in it, and that parents want their kids to be unique. But there's a fine line between unique and setting them up for teasing, bullying, and life-long self-loathing. Okay, maybe not a fine line, but still.
