I absolutely agree that the bar of entry has gone substantially up for content creators over the years. I wish to start making videos on youtube, too, but feel intimidated by how much editing and the expected quality of videos in the current scene. I think you're right though, new content creators can definitely use what they have at their disposal, then climb up to the bar of entry eventually. I just copy technoblade and hope that gets me somewhere eventually. Although when I say copy I mean copy his style and a bit of his humor nothing else really.
