She was my favorite character since X4 and her dying in the same game she first appeared was just stupid really. But luckely, they gave her a lot of variations in X DiVE, and together with my bestie, our goal is to get all her variations and max them out. We kinda succeeded already, as we have 6 of her variations maxed out on the EU account and recently maxed out her DiVE Armor variation on TW. Of course, we want them all on the same account, so waiting on the EU Account at the moment it is.

They originally were going to be for the legacy collection back on the ps2, but they decided to hold off because they started making maverick hunter x at the time and thought if it was successful they would have the x8 cast redo the x4 remake cutscenes. It’s a shame

Wow this is a really good video! There aren’t too many that focus on Iris and do a character analysis. I still to this day feel sad that she went the way she did (they should’ve given her more screen time with zero!) and more so that the damage from colonels program meant she couldn’t be brought back.

I always found it a little weird that in Mega Man, a franchise where robots with distinct personalities get killed all the time, it's this one relatively unimportant side character that gets painted as such a tragedy. (I'd also argue that General's final sacrifice after realizing that his cause was wrong from the beginning was at least as tragic.) Of course, the big problem with creating a Beautiful Tragic Figure is, well, the figure in question sometimes becomes really popular as a result. And even if the original creator had a "Dead is dead!" mentality in that one very specific instance, future design teams are under no obligation to honor his wishes. Particular when there's... mmm, what was it again... oh yeah, *money* to be made. So I'm not at all surprised that Iris is one of the headliners in the current big Mega Man project, and you know what, more power to her. After all, good characters never truly die, they just get... upgraded. 😉

Iris means "rainbow" 🌈✨ Saw her the first time around year 2001. I was a graduating 6th grade student back then. 01:21 - when i saw her, the first time. my brother was playing this then i saw her and told my bro shes a cute /pretty anime character. She's not Hot but her style and is more like girl next door type. she's pretty Her kindness, innocence and her angelic facade is what made her beautiful. She may be just a "supporting character" but her character has touched a lot of fans of megaman . There's really something about her that makes her more interesting than alia, layer, pallette and even Roll from the original mega man. Im guessing it's her character being a nice yet tragic. Her character is very human-like also. She's nice but we all know when youre in war, war brings out the worst in us and thats exctly what happened to her. In the end, her character was the one whom you will sympathize with because we all know where her heart is and what she really isnt an evil person/robot/reploid. I mean, attempting to kill Zero doesnt mean shes a bad person/character/robot. If we were in Iris' place, what would you do also? Thats what makes her very interesting. Shes not just a white or black character. Shes also a gray chatacter which really makes her mire realustic and human-like character. And i love her since year 2001 ❤🌈

Iris means color. However, Iris is also the name of the Greek goddess of the Rainbow. Likely the association between rainbows and color is the reason for her name. Irises are also a family of flowers (really beautiful at that), which are often best known for their seemingly endless varieties, colors and elegant shapes. Funnily enough I chose my name after my favorite flower, and later found out of all the meanings and significance of the name Iris. Also coincidentally I'm a bit of a MegaMan Zero fangirl. (The GBA series still holds a special place in my heart). I didn't know about the character Iris before I chose my name 😂 Additionally I'm in full agreement with your description of her. Besides she was avenging her brother, and was noticeably distraught by the way things had turned out, clearly she didn't want any of this to happen

@@RockmanHQ Honestly, i always felt that they killed her off for no real reason. Inafune couldn't really be bothered. Since X5 was supposed to be the end of X saga(in his eyes at least), i wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to cut any loose ends. And he didn't really had much to do with X5 in the end. Capcom could just continue the idea of remakes, like Megaman Maverick Hunter X...They already made an interesting design of what if Iris was like Colonel in XDiVe. Like, what if instead of dying, she could be saved, with using Colonel's chip(since, if i remember correctly, from the start Iris and Colonel should have been one reploid, but had to be seperated due to conflict issues)

That first battle between Ken & Bison - I mean, Zero & Colonel - after that first block, all Colonel had to do was whip back and bust the Psycho Drive Crusher on him. That would've got him. 😏😏😏 Seriously, though...I wish I hadn't missed the Another Iris banner in X DiVE. (That came about during a time when the game absosmurfinlutely _refused_ to install on my Galaxy S10+, and when it finally got installed, it refused to load...a irritating time considering that I played the beta with no problem) That particular version looks so badass...almost like what Layer from X8 could've been potentially. And they totally missed the three-pointer by not having a playable Iris in Rockman X2: Soul Eraser/Megaman Xtreme 2. If they could make up moves for Zero, they could've made up moves and an entire play style for Iris if they wanted to.

Not that i dislike the what if of perfect iris but where is the what if perfect colonel? You put some edge on iris and you mellow out colonel. It kinda feels like colonel was the after thought of what to do with the failed super reploid rather than both him and iris mutually emerging from the clashing personalities, or something. i just think a perfect colonel would be neat to see, only battle network seems to give colonel any attention.

The concept is Iris -Another- is both if them. In her concept art, she had his hat, which I still think she should have kept. She was made for X Dive though, and Iris sold well for them so it makes sense that they took the business smart move.

Repliforce's goal was to create a nation for Reploid in space, because they had been unfairly accused of Maverick by humans (game cutscene). They never intended to eliminate humanity. At the end of the game General realizes his mistake in trusting Sigma and sacrifices himself to protect the earth and the humans. Therefore, I think that Iris, being someone who loves peace and seeing that the only solution to the conflict was to get away from Earth, could have followed her brother's (and Repliforce) ideals, without being a bad person, being in the middle of the conflict. Moreover, she had to debate between her love to Colonel and Zero. In fact, the reason because Iris loses herself control is due to the death of her brother, the other half of her, since according to the Lore they were both part of the same reploid.

This is so in depth and well made. Iris is one of my favourite Megaman Character btw One thing that I always adore about her is on her fight in X4. When Zero is low on HP, Iris immediately reveals her core no matter the circumstances(Normally, Zero have to hit her 8 times). I believe that this is one of her personality that still remains, even on her Ride Armor form.
