For the majority who are playing for fun and eyeballing which are safe or punishable attacks, typically any move that ends with a 1 or 3 (left punch or kick) are safe while those that end with 2 or 4 are punishable (right punch or kick). Also, when dealing with string movesets, usually it’s safe up to the 2nd while normally punishable by the 3rd attack and beyond. A lot of lows and jumping attacks are punishable. Of course there are exceptions like the pressure tools executed on 2 & 4 commands but you’ll know how to deal with these once you’re damiliar with it coz it tends to get spammed a lot. Again this is just a general rule and meant to get you over your friends and overall playing field.

Only your first tip is wrong. The 1 or 3 being safe and 2or 4 isn't a good rule even for newbies. Moreso pay attention to how the move interacts when it's blocked, does the enemy get pushback and stunned? Or do they recover faster than you

There are some attacks like kings dropkick and other moves that end in crouching that might be super minus but often give a weak punish. If the enemy is in a crouching or grounded state after the attack you can obviously not hit them with a high launcher. This leads to some odd scrambles that one might need to be aware of as well.

Nooooooo, in Tekken you never want to have youre back against a wall. Movement is youre biggest strenght in Tekken, while youre back is at the wall you cant backdash to make space and force a whif and be safe. While also you cant sidestep, couse most homing moves wall splat etc. So no you wanna have youre opponnent against a wall. Wall negating pushback only makes few sitiautions easier to punish if the opponent decides to use the move(most ppl dont gonna use moves which are punishable without pushback at wall) and it gets blocked. But in general back against the wall is worst postion you can be in(not inclucing knockdown)
@redthalos
@redthalos 10 ай бұрын
@@eLovvski ofc, the context is about punishing moves with pushback
@knyras
@knyras 10 ай бұрын
At first glance - yes, but in Tekken when playing against experienced player being against the wall is a huge disadvantage because of the potential pressure. Furthermore, there are many moves now that can hit you against the wall, even if you block them, which breaks your guard (this mechanic was introduced almost at the end of T7). And realistically, although your initial thought is right, many moves still create distance, even in that situation which we discuss. Some moves push back the attacker creating space regardless, because there's no room for the opponent to be pushed back any further and it looks like the slide off you after the attack

ideally, you would do your biggest 15 frame move. in tekken, -15 means launch punish. you just have to practice your punishment input timing to take advantage of all the frames. if you are not doing complicated inputs like electrics or jet upper, its pretty easy to do.
@CribbsTV
@CribbsTV 10 ай бұрын
if they are -15 and you want to do a 15 frame launcher and land it your move must come out on the first possible frame. However it's not really as hard as it sound because you can buffer the input for the punish while still in recovery after blocking as long as you're not way too early.
@arda213
@arda213 10 ай бұрын
The key point of "being -15" IS the fact that start up frame of launch punishes are universally 15 frames. (Kazuyas PEWGF is 13) So even if you miss one frame the opponent will defend. However you wont miss that one frame. Because you will have already inputted the execution when your character is in stagger. So he will do it as soon as he recovers automatically.
@evilaquila
@evilaquila 8 ай бұрын
So PEWGF is 13 frames, considering 1 frame for f input, 1 frame for neutral and 11 startup frames from d/f+2. Playing on the old shit keyboard, and my neutral PEWGF frames are consistently at 2-3 frames and forward input is 2 frames (according to input data info). Does it mean that my electric is 16 frames overall and I can't launch from Kazuya's CH d/f+2 as it gives only 13 frames (even if I press forward just in time)?

Can someone explain something to me about frame advantage and ducking? When king hits F2 or DB3, he gets decent frame advantage and I used to think throw attempt was guaranteed. But after labbing it seems that crouching is fast enough to where, on these moves, throw attempt is not even guaranteed. How plus do you need to be for a free throw attempt?
@edinhototozafy7445
@edinhototozafy7445 10 ай бұрын
There is no guaranteed throws (aside from specific ones like b3+4,2 then d1+4), there's only a MIXUP, and your opponent always have a chance to defend against it. Imo, what makes a good grappler is how well you mix those throws between 1 break throw, 2 or 1+2, or mid checks if he ducks, and that's exactly the point of the mindgame in Tekken.

Whay the hell everybody tri to make it harder than it is ? It's very very simple and basis : 1. Frame data practically is how fast your hits comes out 2. A 10 punch is faster than a 12 , idem for a every other move 3. If if you hit in the same time with a 10 frame move and the opponent with a 12 frame (hes move is slower) you will hit first It's very basic and simple

Great explanation on frame data TMM but im confused on anything under 10 frames. If im minus under 10 frames, is that neutral or does it just mean im in a disadvantage in general? And im assuming its vice versa
@ramireini
@ramireini 10 ай бұрын
If you're -5 frames it means you will get to block/act 5 frames later than the opponent, so the opponent has 5 frames of advantage over you. Remember, it's frames of animation, that takes time, they have time/frames to act over you.
@Sir_Robin_of_Camelot
@Sir_Robin_of_Camelot 10 ай бұрын
0 is neutral. Minus is disadvantage, plus is advantage. If you are minus -5, your 10 frame jab will trade (hit at the same time) with your opponent's 15 frame move for example. A 14 frame move would beat your jab in that situation.

@@ramireini Thanks for the help. The reason why im confused is because of the 10f jab. Since a 10f jab is the fastest and im like -9 or undrr, i can still interrupt their pressure with a down jab right? Srry im trash even at basic math.

@@redthalos nope sorry to break the ice to you. Ivm playing Tekken since 8yrs inT7 i was at Tekken King rank with Kaz. And term perfect electric dosnt come from the fastest input possible. Term Perfect electric komes from specif input for electric which only Reina and Kaz can do couse of ther forward step they can either skip the neutral or the down input for the electric, that specific scenario makes EWGF 13f and is refferd as Perfect Electric any other electric is just basic electric. So no its litteraly impossible for DVJ to do PEWGF becouse he cant do the perfect electric input, type in yt PEWGF and see for ya self. Also you said that you can hear Dah or Dorya if its perfect and thats also incorrect. When you do the input without just frame and the Dah/Dorya shout, thats reffered as a wind god fist. When you hear the screams its just an simple electric/EWGF. So i hope ive helped and please stop spreading misinformation if youre new or dont understand the topic to the tea. Hey MainMan I was doing ranked matches and ran into a Kuma player using easy mode. I wonder what's your take on players using easy mode in ranked matches? It just doesn't seem respectful or fair to the players who put hundreds of hours into the game to grow and compete while there are others who can compete with easy mode and play with a character as if they worked for it. I understand the corporate decision behind it. But I believe if they can't do a separate ranked section for players who use easy mode we should at the very least be able to see who is using it before we accept a match in ranked. I know you by how honest you've kept the devs and are not afraid to speak up for the good of the game. That's why I came to your channel to ask your thoughts on the subject I mentioned.

I’m far from a good tekken player, but I don’t think I’ve ever lost to anyone using special style, at all. Why? Because A - i practically know their every move after a round, and B, I actually have played the game more. I don’t think there’s anyone who actually uses special mode that has more than double digit hours on the game. I think special mode is great for beginners, and absolutely nothing to worry about past beginner ranks, because simply put, they don’t exist past them. Also FYI - if people with so many hours perfecting their craft are struggling to beat players using this special mode, the hard truth is that they lack composure, a game plan, and the skill set for online play, which is something that can only be improved by playing online more and more

I had the same mental until i realized that if i can't win against someone who uses 5 moves again and again, how would i win against someone who knows how to play. You got to fight them like you're fighting a bot 😅

@@GGrandiose You assume that I struggled with that match just simply by asking a question out curiosity. You should not assume things that you are not sure about. It will make you look foolish one day.
