Jason is the best sounding, hardest working and most energetic Metallica bassist. His backing vocals outshined Hetfield's on many occasions, he was an absolute workhorse on tour. He took the wrath of 3 people and still delivered night after night. Legend.

@matiasvillordo8611 ай бұрын
@@alexcorona It's time to stop romanticizing Cliff so much, yes, he was the first bassist (although he was a guitarist, that's why he played like that) but unfortunately his time in Metallica was short-lived compared to Jason, who I'm not saying is better but that it was the best. which strengthened Metallica until his departure in 2000. And it would have been better for Trujillo to stay in some of his former bands Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves or Black Label Society.

I can only imagine the outrage of Sadowsky fanatics everywhere upon learning that he had the unmitigated audacity to swap the pickups in some of his Sadowskys for lowly EMGs. Having never played a Sadowsky, I don't know how their pickups are, but I can say this: I have now replaced the pickups in every one of my five P- or P/J-style basses with the EMG GZR-P or GZR-PJ (Geezer Butler signature P and P/J sets, supposedly modeled after one of Bobby Vega's vintage P-bass' pickups) pickups. I've played all manner of Fender bass pickups (actual vintage, Fender Vintage Noiseless, Nordstrand, DiMarzio, Fralin, Novak, on and on), and the GZRs are far and away the sweetest, quietest, most responsive Fender-style bass pickups I've ever played. I haven't played other EMGs, and I don't think the rest of their product line is geared toward that kind of sound, but man, you'd have it to do if you wanted to get the best of them. I wonder if there is a way to confirm or not if Jason Used a Gallien Krueger on Justice looking at the settings on the notes it all lines up but then again what was the main amp to on the album
@Malum095 жыл бұрын
I think Jason was one of the first to bring 5 string basses to the mainstream.
@WhichBass5 жыл бұрын
That's possible. I can't think of another contender. Depends what you mean by mainstream. Mainstream metal or mainstream music. Flea was using a 5 string ray in Under the Bridge which was probably seen more than Jasons lot. Then again with the likes of Good Charlotte and Papa Roach. Both had 5 string Laklands and appealed to a newer generation.

Which Bass mainstream metal I mean.

Hi there. On your website you state, that the Ampeg SVT II was replaced with the SVT III. This is some kind of a mistake. Ampeg just stoped the production of the SVT II because it was a rackmount unit - and racks happened to come out of fashion. People liked the standalone all-tube amps more than the rackmount unirt. There was a time, when Ampeg produced lots of rackmount stuff, like the SVP Pro and SVT IIp preamps and different poweramps, an all-tube and a solid state. The SVT II and SVT II pro have been full blown rackmount all tube amps with a great sound - but a hefty weight. The SVT III on the other hand is a complete different animal. Not only it is a hybrid amp with three valves in the preamp and two driver valves before the solid state power amp. The "Pro Series" of Ampeg, containing the SVT 3, 4 and 7 Pro are all different amps, but all equiped with a tube preamp and a solid state poweramp. They are built to be mounted in a rack, but no longer only rackmount units. Tube purists complain, that the graphic EQ of the SVT II and SVT II pro are solid state, so they "are no real all tube amps". Those people prefer the Heritage- or Classic-Series. Like the Heritage SVT CL 300 Watt all tube, or the more affordable Classic Series, containing the SVT VR, SVT CL, all 300 Watt all tube-units, or the V4b Reissue with 100 Watt. I like your channel a lot, just keep on doing, what you do - and be sure, there is no offense meant, I just wanted to give you a chance to correct your statement on your website.

Kong, thanks for the feedback I'll have a look. It's nice to see someone who knows what they're talking about. Thanks for enlightening me. Ampeg are bloody dreadful at putting information up online. You should make a website about Ampeg models instead. I'd totally read it :D

EtherealAesthetic I know someone who has one...less than 5 4-strings were made available to the public, and only 3 5-strings were made available, and if you do see one turn up, be prepared to cough up around $20,000 for one. They are SSD (Stuart Spector Design) JN-4 and JN-5 models, and were modified versions of the Spector SD body shape to Jason’s specs. Featured EMG DC pickups, Spector USA 18v tone circuit, as well as a piezo pickup in the bridge.

Hum, i do not never had a camera back then, remember this was before everyone had phones with them on. but i want to say i have seen in a video on here where he played with them in some kind of reunion charity deal and he had it running, i want to say him and Dave mustain were guest at it.
@WhichBass6 жыл бұрын
Ahh ok. I'll take your word for it. I know from past experience that at charity gigs musicians share gear and don't always bring their own equipment. There was a Dimebash show where Geezer Butler used a Hartke and ended up using them from then on. I thought Jason was at this gig too but it doesn't look like it.
