I know it sounds good that Matt Reeves is taking his time writing the script but it also can be a bad thing. People might lose interest and actors who are free now may have schedule conflicts later on (though I think Robert Pattinson and Colin Farell will try to keep themselves available just in case Matt drops a call in the eleventh hour). More likely, Matt Reeves is reading Batman comics and scheming for the future because the sequel itself sounds pretty straightforward. We got the tease from The Penguin as a guide.

This is getting ridiculous. Granted, I liked The Batman but I wasn’t as big of a fan of it as a lot of other people. But it’s ridiculous that we’re going to have waited 5.5 years between movies, and last I heard was that Matt Reeves hasn’t even turned in the first draft of a script. Wtf is he doing? At this point he’s either set the expectations sky high to the point it can’t reach, or the hype is going to die down. What also doesn’t make sense is the fact that the DCU’s Batman movie is on hold. It’s like, get moving on one or the other already! My guess is kind of in line with yours: that they’re trying to find a way to merge The Batman and his world with the DCU and make Pattinson the DCU Batman. Basically reworking Brave and the Bold and making it into The Batman pt. 2. Because if they’re still trying to make the DCU Batman a vet who has the Batfamily established and they go by real time in the movie, by the time The Batman pt. 2 comes out, it would be enough time and make sense for him to at least have had 2 Robins (and maybe Batgirl) within that time frame. I know James Gunn wants to merge The Batman with the DCU but Matt Reeves doesn’t. And I’m at the point now where I kind of don’t want that to happen either after the release of Penguin. 1. Robert Pattinson is a decent Batman but I’m not as big of a fan of him as everyone else, and I’d be kind of disappointed to see him as the DCU Batman. I want a more comic accurate version. 2. It’ll be kind of jarring to see an ultra realistic Batman start to do fantastical things and fight fantastical enemies (which Reeves said would never happen), especially for the general audience. 3. The Batman universe and this Batman doesn’t seem like it’ll fit within the tone and aesthetic that the DCU is going for. Your idea kind of makes sense though that they could be gearing up to shoot the 2nd and 3rd movie back to back. But like you said, that’s probably wishful thinking lol
