He did, and while many fans respected Matt Reeves' vision, it's one that is extremely closed-minded and lacks long-term potential for creativity. Just because you create a grounded story doesn't mean it can't go bigger. Matt Reeves should know this best because he worked on Planet of the Apes. Also, look at the MCU in its baby steps during Phase One. In the beginning, we had Tony Stark in his Ironman suit flying about taking on the everyday evils of corparate crime, War Based Terrorism, and copycats in their own suits. Then, as timed progressed, we got Gamma Monsters, Gods, Super Soldiers coming back from the 40s, and alien invasions, which boom led to the assembly of the Avengers But even after the avengers had their first outing together , the core heroes were still able to coexist in their own respective worlds. Ironman and War Machine still fought their daily dose of extremists and War Mongers. Thor went back to Asgard and the 9 realms venturing throughout the Cosmos to bring stability. Captain America was going on Black Ops missions with SHIELD because His whole purpose was to be a warrior with a mission to liberate the world from human evils. Hulk was chilling because, well, the MCU didn't know what to do with him. But as the universe grew, we saw the introduction of more heroes that came from various self-contained backgrounds. So what's stopping DC from operating on a similar beat. James Gunn said straight up he wants to collab with different artists so that they can tell masterful stories that puts these heroes on the map. And another statement that matt reeves said was that he was looking to make movies that capture the spirit and essence of Batman, so why not do all aspects of his character, including the moments where he tackles cases that delve into the supernatural or have him step outside of Gotham. I'm not saying that it's gonna happen. But it would be just something to think about storywise.

I don't know if it's so much the difference in tone of light vs dark, everyone knows that's the dynamic between Superman and Batman. It might more so be the difference in feeling between a fantastical vs a grounded universe. With how it is currently it feels like Robert Patterson's Batman would die in 2 seconds in the universe David Corenswet's Superman is in.

No, they aren’t talking about the character dynamic more of the world itself, just imagine you’re in metropolis and you see all these kaiju monsters and crazy villains like mirror master or something, not to mention wearing fabrics or spandex. and then you go to Gotham right next to it and the whole demeanor changes, grounded villains, no super powered heroes but more technical superheroes, villains and heroes with padded and more armored clothing and more just dark overall. It would just feel weird. Hope this helps!

Tbh, I was honestly hoping Reeves would be slightly more fantastical in the sequels anyway, with Mr. Freeze or a Poison Ivy. If they want to merge Pattinson batman, they should scrap the idea of The brave and the bold and have it be the batman 2 with it introducing robin. No need to have a old batman with a young superman because that doesnt work. They would have to age up Pattinson with some cgi or makeup. Sure, The Brave and the Bold would establish a Bat Family but it would be cool to see both young versions of Batman and Superman growing into the characters they were meant to be.

1/ Matt Reeves & James Gunn, here’s why Robert Pattinson’s Batman should evolve into the DCU and how it could work. This isn’t just about “fitting him in”-it’s about using Reeves’ trilogy to create a unified Batman arc that feels natural, respects fans, and expands the DCU. 2/ Reeves’ trilogy perfectly grounds Bruce Wayne: from raw vengeance (Part I) to refined protector (Part II) and eventual mentor (Part III). Each film develops Bruce emotionally and tactically. By Part III, he’s seasoned, prepared for larger responsibilities beyond Gotham. • In Part II, Bruce refines his methods with villains like Hush, Penguin, and Mr. Freeze, exploring themes of trust, control, and vulnerability. • In Part III, Bruce faces a threat like the Court of Owls, and potentially meets Damian Wayne. This deepens his emotional arc, showing him as a father figure and mature leader. 3/ After Reeves’ trilogy, Pattinson’s Batman transitions perfectly into the DCU. Imagine his gritty detective style clashing with Corenswet’s hopeful Superman in World’s Finest. Their dynamic would feel fresh, contrasting methods but building mutual respect. • Batman represents control, strategy, and pragmatism. • Superman embodies optimism, power, and compassion. • Their relationship would evolve naturally, with each challenging the other’s worldview. 4/ Fantastical elements? They can work-and Reeves’ grounded tone makes them more compelling. • Clayface (already shown in Creature Commandos) starts as a biotech tragedy: an actor experimenting with cutting-edge prosthetics who becomes something more monstrous. • Mr. Freeze: A cryotech scientist driven by love, not spectacle, whose tech could plausibly exist in Reeves’ world. • Poison Ivy: A modern eco-terrorist using plant-based biochem, not magic, but still deadly and morally complex. • These characters evolve naturally from Reeves’ world, expanding into the larger DCU without feeling forced. 5/ The DCU timeline builds on this perfectly: • World’s Finest introduces Batman and Superman’s partnership, blending Gotham’s grounded tone with Superman’s hopeful heroics. • Titans form later, using Batman as a key mentor figure. Dick Grayson could appear after Reeves’ trilogy, bridging to Damian Wayne and building the Bat-Family over time. • Villains like Lex Luthor or Brainiac could bring Gotham and Metropolis together organically in larger Justice League stories. 6/ Reeves and Gunn’s visions complement each other: • Reeves’ trilogy creates the emotional foundation, grounding Bruce in realism while giving him room to grow. • Gunn’s DCU expands that foundation, allowing Batman to step into larger team-ups and cosmic-level threats without losing his core identity. This collaboration would create a balanced DCU: grounded yet limitless, personal yet epic. 7/ The DCU has already started integrating unique tones (Creature Commandos, Superman: Legacy), but Reeves’ Batman could serve as the “realism anchor” of this universe. Gotham’s grounded storytelling becomes the perfect foil to Metropolis’ idealism or Themyscira’s mythology. 8/ Fans love Reeves’ work, but they also want a unified DCU. This plan respects both: Reeves finishes his trilogy uninterrupted, and Pattinson steps into the DCU naturally after. No rush, no compromise-just storytelling excellence. Together, you’d create something iconic. 9/ The key is collaboration: Reeves builds Bruce emotionally. Gunn expands his world. This sets Batman up for World’s Finest, the Bat-Family, and Justice League films without losing what makes his character resonate. Unified, but organic. Let’s make it happen. This thread brings together: 1. Reeves’ trilogy’s evolution of Bruce Wayne into a mature Batman. 2. DCU integration: how it works in World’s Finest, Titans, and larger team-ups. 3. Fantastical elements: grounded origins that expand into larger storytelling. 4. Big-picture vision: Why this plan respects Reeves, fans, and the DCU. Think of Reeves’ trilogy and the DCU like Star Wars. Reeves’ Batman trilogy can be its own grounded masterpiece, like the Original Trilogy. It builds emotional depth and sets the stage for a larger universe. The DCU mirrors the Star Wars cinematic tapestry: diverse, interconnected stories (like Gotham, Metropolis, and Themyscira) coexisting without losing their individuality. Each project adds a unique chapter to the larger narrative, just like Star Wars built its galaxy over time. Reeves’ grounded world serves as the anchor, much like Luke’s story centered Star Wars. It’s intimate, emotional, and deeply human-while the DCU expands it, respecting its foundation and honoring its tone.

A good part of their revenue comes from the audience who either do not follow these movie timelines or hv never read the comics so it can surely lead to some confusion or disinterest. Especially if u talk about people from outside the US, a large chunk of the audience wouldn't know why they hv two different Batmans with entirely different universes. Sure like u said, they can still connect the dots and follow along if the movies are good but there's always a risk associated with it..!

Battinson would absolutely work in the DCU. The reason Batman is such a great superhero is that he starts out staying grounded in Gotham, but as Gotham's threats become more supernatural and sci-fi, so do his means of fighting such threats. Since Batman Part 2 will take place likely 2022, I have a strong theory that Reeves and Gunn are purposely delaying Part 2 so that Batman's next appearance (whether it is World Finest, Justice League, or Part 3) takes place 5+ years after parts 1&2 when Batman/Bruce Wayne/Gotham surely would have grown and become more suitable for a sci-fi world where aliens and monsters exist. Plus, if Batman adopts Dick Grayson in part 2, after five years pass, depending on how old Dick was in part 2, by 2027 he would be becoming Nightwing and leading the titans while Batman is having his own stories with Jason Todd, Barbra Gordon, Tim Drake, and eventually even Damion Wayne. With a 5 year time gap, Battinsion can (and will) transition from the grounded Batman he is in part 1 to the sci-fi Batman he should be for Justice League films.

Plus, I wouldn’t be flexible seeing two new Batman actors competing with each other, including Robert Pattinson’s iteration. Just like with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, he appeared in some MCU projects, including No Way Home. If Matt Reeves decides to bring Battinson into the main DCU, even though the She-Hulk series ruined Daredevil, he should take notes from Marvel regarding how he would properly integrate Battinson into the new DC continuity.

Wrong and here’s why 1/ Matt Reeves & James Gunn, here’s why Robert Pattinson’s Batman should evolve into the DCU and how it could work.

Matt Reeves DOESN'T want Reevesverse to be in the DCU. BaTB is gonna be a different take on the character. It's gonna have a batfamily and fantastical elements, both things that fans really want, but Reeves doesn't. Having two different batmen is the perfect solution for this. We can have the best of both worlds. You're also infantilizing fans a lot if you think having two batmen is confusing for audiences. I mean just a few years ago we had three different spider-man movie universes and nobody was confused. There's already been so many Batman films with different takes, nobody is gonna be confused as different Batman trilogies that's just a you problem. Let reeves keep his own vision. And let us have two different takes on Batman. Gotham's lore is so extensive you can easily just have two completely different takes with completely different vibes. Both can be different enough that nobody will be consfused at wich is wich unless you're someone's grandma

This Batman is in his early years, and the next Batman movie is only gonna take place a few months after the first. Matt reeves doesn’t plan to do Batman movies with years apart of each other, cuz he’s building the character into the eventual “Batman” we know. So since the movies still take place in 2021-2022, we can have a team up movie in 2030 which would be year 10 Batman and have him fantastical cuz it’s been 10 years. Similar to how iron man had a simple machine suit but then 10 years later he had super complex nano tech suit. Also I know we saw Batman in creature commandos but keep in fact that the superman movie takes place in 2025 (probably). So that would mean Batman is in year 5 which by that point Batman has been through a lot

Why not establishing Pattinson as the Batman from Earth 2, and have him play a different version of Batman and Bruce in Earth 1, which would be the new Superman’s DCU? Its the wisest thing to do financially and creatively. Forcing these two universes together sound incredibly fun. I dont love how they did it with Daredevil, but st least we're getting a new season with the same showrunners.

Do NOT give Reeves full creative control of the Batman IP 😭. He wants a grounded universe that never goes into supernatural, which means if he has full control, we'll never see characters like Man-Bat, Clayface, Killer Croc, etc

@@therealmr.incredible3179 Not sure you understand. What I'm saying is, Matt Reeves wants a grounded universe, not a fantastical universe. The DCU Clayface movie is because James Gunn wants a fantastical universe, not Matt Reeves (Also Matt Reeves' universe isn't in the DCU, it's an elseworlds project. Which inherently means they both take place in 2 different universes). Matt Reeves has said this on countless occasions. So if James Gunn wants a fantastical universe and Matt Reeves wants a grounded universe, which one do you think should have full creative control over a universe which we (the fans) want to be fantastical?

Gotham in the comics is colorful but dark , but it’s also has dark villains but you still have goofy characters like the joker and maybe even riddler and many more with colorful costumes. And it’s fantastical no realism dcu is a way to finally go full fantastical after many years after the first fantastical one in live action. The one before the 2000s.

I think, that Matt reeves is actually wrong about this, batman, often stays on the grounded level, but also at times faces both, magical, or sci fi foes.

I think they should just keep them seperate. If Pattinson's Batman is brought into the DCU then the tone of those movies will have to be changed to be a lot more fantastical like the Superman movies and that will take away from what made the first movie great. Batman has an interesting lineup of fantastical villains that they could use in the DCU version and they could also introduce villains we've already seen in Reeves' movies but they should just avoid making them the main villains if they already were in the Reeves' version, so not DCU Batman with the Riddler as the main villain

I'm happy for them to go with different tones for each character, so that's not my problem. My problem is I just don't want Pattinson's Batman to be the DCU Batman. He absolutely cannot be. I want a Batman who has a full Bat-Family (Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin/Robin, Robin, Batgirls, Batwoman, Batwing, Ace the Bat-Hound, Jarro, etc.). We haven't seen the team done properly in live-action before and it would be a waste not to use this opportunity to do it. This would naturally require an older Batman. Not too old or anything, but definitely older than Pattinson's Batman. Additionally, Batman should be way bulkier. He needs to have HUGE muscles. Since they did the wise thing and gave Superman his trunks (he's incomplete without them), they NEED to give Batman his trunks too. Real fans would love this. Pattinson simply does not look the part. I also don't like the look that version of the Joker has. He's too bald when he should have hair. I love Pattinson's take on Batman and what Matt Reeves is cooking, The Batman was great and I look forward to see more, but that must never cross over into the DCU. It won't confuse anyone to have two separate Batmen at the same time. It won't. Give people more credit, they're not all clueless.

The CW was notorious for feeling cheap, nobody actually thinks it’s high quality stuff. Also, the daredevil example sucks cause the Matt we see in She-Hulk acts completely different than the Matt in Daredevil It can be done, but the examples given were ass

People literally miss the point of a shared cinematic universe when they say things like ‘the tones are too different’ or ‘the batman only had grounded villains’ for starters, the whole dynamic between characters in a shared universe is that characters that are completely different and their tones and feelings are so different that it’s so cool when the come together, look at the mcu, Iron man sharing a screen with a Norse god? It shouldn’t work but it does, and the Batman villains have only been grounded so far like the riddler and Penguin, who are pretty realistic characters even in the comics (pretty much) and it would be so cool if The Batman would have to start to take on more supernatural characters

After this latest episode of creature commandos it’s virtually impossible and that’s ignoring the the time issue since the Batman takes place in 2022 and if the Superman movie is modern time period why does pattinsons Batman not already have a Robin or a batgirl by this point . But the main issue is maroni dies from dr phosphorus in the dcu not penguin . they’d have to retcon an entire show to do this crossover .

The "grounded" nature isn't that big of a deal, that can expand. The main issue is his low tier fighting skills. Unless they expand on this in the future, there is no way that Battison would be able to hold his own against all these metahumans

"They Would avoid confusion, because the original plan was to have 2 live action batmen, having separate adventures, at the same time. This has never happened in movies before." So did we just forget about 'THE FLASH' coming out after 'THE BATMAN'? That didn't confused people AT ALL. General Audiences aren't stupid. They can differentiate 2 different Batmen.

Another good example of something starting out fairly realistic but then going more fantastical is Batman: The Animated Series becoming the DCAU after Superman came about. Yes, Batman: TAS wasn’t that realistic considering it already had stuff like the Lazarus Pit, Clayface, and Freeze but the when the show started, the tone was more noir and art deco design but then transitioned that pretty well eventually to crossover with Superman while still somewhat maintaining the noir tone somewhat, granted not a fan of Joker’s redesign
