One criticism I’ve seen a lot of is people saying Pattinson’s Bruce/Batman is “too dark”. The monologue Bruce gives in the last 10 minutes of the movie about needing to be “more”, is clearly setting up a more heroic, less violent Batman in the sequel.
@SteakNPatatoes
@SteakNPatatoes 2 жыл бұрын
I think the problem with that criticism, is like you said, is that it’s clearly answered at the end. That being too dark is not a good plan for Batman. Even before that, when Batman meets Riddler, he realizes psychopathic minds will push his vengeance agenda too far or try to stand up against. Either way it’s not good.

I've seen The Batman three times by now and dam I could really see it again. No theatrical release of a movie ever made me want to see it more than once. The Batman is doing something right that no Marvel movie has done. All that I can say is that this film is great and it's what I always wanted from a Batman film. Great job to Matt Reeves and crew!

47:50 I think the humanisation of Batman in this movie is brilliant. We as audiences sometimes forget that Batman is just a man. He has 0 superpowers. It creates stakes. It creates vulnerability and a sense of relatability. He has to overcome a lot of hardships throughout the film and to see him do so makes you want to punch the air in victory. Saying that,In this movie, he does have a superpower to an extent…Fear!Striking fear into the foes he faces. Yes, he gets punched. Yes, he gets shot. And what does he do? He takes it all and gets back up Every. Single. Time! That is terrifying! Knowing that you are throwing everything you have at someone; something and yet your fate is sealed. You are going to lose because he is The Batman! Loved the movie. Looking forward to seeing it again soon and really enjoyed your review.

I absolutely adored the movie! It’s definitely my favorite live action adaptation of Batman! Pattinson is perfect and captures Batman’s body language and mannerisms beautifully! Without spoiling, I like that the movie doesn’t spend so much time explaining everything and expositing. It’s not, “he acts like this because of this thing that happened,” but instead, we’re supposed to use our knowledge of the character and our brains to understand why things happen. It really allows them to portray these characters in awesome ways without weighing everything down with a ton of exposition.

For me personally, it's the GREATEST BATMAN FILM EVER MADE! It's the first time I felt like I was actually watching Batman from the comics on screen. His presence alone is intimidating, methodical, deliberate, scary, and in control. And that Batmobile introduction....HOLY SHIT!! I genuinely love this film, and I've seen it 5 times now. I plan on seeing it again before it leaves the theaters. The movie gets even better the more you see it. Which I didn't think was possible after my first experience watching it. Absolute masterpiece! BY FAR my favorite Batman film and favorite Batman interpretation. 100/10 lol.

Coming out of this movie, I felt like I read a six issue arc of Detective Comics. This film has a grasp on the character and mythos of Batman like none other that has come before it. Elements of Earth One (heavily), the New 52, Year One, Long Halloween, No Man's Land (setup?), and several others are blended up into a cinematic film that gives us the definitive Batman performance in live action. In a sea of quippy, CGI dependent, watered down superhero flicks that can't stop, won't stop to dig deep and explore mature themes in a comic book universe, The Batman is a breath of fresh air and is true cinema. If for some reason you haven't seen it in IMAX already, what the hell are you waiting for? Go !!!

Personally, I love how they gave off this air of fear to Robert Pattinson's Batman. Like every time the criminals see the Bat-Signal lit up in the night sky, they have this sense of terror in their expression and body language, like "Wait, is that Bat-freak in the alleyway right there?! I gotta get outta here!" They really nail the tension and horror-esque suspense in this movie.

This Batman and Gotham City were ripped straight out of the comics it was the most comic accurate Batman film I have seen the critics of this film have no idea how this film represents Batman and his dark hopeless world. The Riddler in this film was a mix of Joker, Jigsaw, and Zodiac Killer he was outlandish and insane but a serious threat.

I like how they choose a year 2 Batman, it allows them to not shoe-horn the training/origin while only reminding the audience of the trauma of his without the obligatory parents death scene. Thanks to for uploading this video dude because as someone who really enjoyed Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy despite it's writing and action flaws especially in TDKR but I'm not going to compare this movie to those. Robert Pattinson was an awesome Batman he's a very good actor despite Twilight BS and I really appreciated Matt Reeves version of Gotham City where it's dirty, dingey and rainy just like the comics. I think Court Of Owls would be a wonderful way to force Batman to grow his fighting skills to the level of Batman we know today. I think people are forgetting that Batman is a crazy depressed and borderline nutcase sociopathic individual just one bad day away from commiting the same crimes as criminals he puts away. I mean this is a guy with his dead parents fortune who's beating criminals to a bloody bone broken mess in his prime years devoting his vast resources, abilities, genius intellect and Time training child soldiers in spandex how to take revenge for their parents or family members being killed in the same way his was so if course he's crazy and unhinged. RIDDLER WAS DOPE BUT SERIOUSLY HE'S GOT THE ZODIAC KILLER VIBEs. Collin Farrell looks completely unrecognizable as Penguin acting like Tony Soprano. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

I loved the buddy cop partnership Batman had with Gordon in this film. It’s best showcased in the police station where he’s the only cop willing to give Batman a shot and let him off, comes up with the plan to get him out of the station while not blowing his cover as a respected officer. Their scenes were the best. I also had a 10/10 theatre experience, just me and one other guy had the theatre all to ourselves and neither of us made a sound. Completely immersed, and was just waiting to see how the story unfolded and as I was watching the film I was thinking this was the Batman I’ve wanted to see for years.

I watched and listened to this review while eating. This review video flew by, man! I agree with the movie being a 9/10. I'd say The Batman is a 9/10 at the worst and a 9.5/10 at its best. The score is absolutely awesome and I've been humming The Batman Theme everytime I'm in the shower ever since I saw the movie. I love the Horror and Thriller elements and parts of this movie. I love how Batman is portrayed as a horror movie slasher, most specifically being The Shape (A.K.A. Michael Myers). Except Batman runs, jumps, talks, and doesn't kill. I love how they got Batman's humor right (or atleast how I feel Batman's humor is). Batman is acting serious and genuine yet the things he says comes off as funny. I think we saw a bit of this type of humor with Val Kilmer, and Ben Affleck, but not as much. Adam West too. I loved seeing all the easter eggs and references to other Batman media and Batman stuff in general. I loved seeing near the end of the movie that Batman has the typical bat-fins on his gauntlets, but for only like a second. I also perked up hearing Selina say "Blüdhaven". I really liked Pattinson's Batman voice a lot. This is one of the best Batman voices in the live action Batman films, second to Val Kilmer for me. His voice as Bruce Wayne though is... off-putting I guess. It's so high that it took me by surprise, but I don't really consider it a bad thing. It is actually good that Batman and Bruce Wayne have very different voices. It is like Kevin Conroy with his Bruce Wayne voice (in B:TAS) being slightly higher than his normal voice and his Batman voice being a very deep version of his normal voice, but still natural. I got really hyped near the end of the film when Batman, after hearing the whole "I'm vengeance" line being twisted and corrupted, decides "Maybe vengeance and pure fear isn't such a good focus for me?" and starts a path towards hope and open compassion. A similar arc to Batfleck. I really hope to see this Batman be more like the one from Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham Asylum #ReleaseTheAyerCut If you think about it, the darker and more violent Batman's have kinda been demonized lately. Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is pretty clear here, but Batfleck from Dawn of Justice to Zack Snyder's Justice League also has a demonization of the dark Batman and angelizes the lighter Batman. I think we're seeing this again with Matt Reeves The Batman movie and Batman's arc. I'm not saying it's bad, but it is something I am noticing

Most comic accurate Batman movie to date I loved this movie so much watched it last night and spoiler kinda I just wanna say this batman's contacts are the most genius gadget in this movie and I love it makes so much sense how he remembers everything from a crime scene. This movie did perfectly what Nolan failed at making a realistic yet comic accurate Batman story I'm so hype for the future Batman movies. I only hope the cameo at the end isn't the villain for the next movie I wanna see different Batman villains in the future not ones we already scene movies about. I'm hoping for scarecrow yes we seen him in Batman begins but he wasn't used much or right.

Well I did hear Matt Reeves was inspired by Batman The Animated Series and it shows for sure here. This Batman is much more brutal as the animated series one was and they both kinda act the same as well personality wise. And I heard thiers even easter eggs out in the movie related to the animated series too. ( Yes I still have not seen it ok. I will soon though )

I heavily disagree with Kwing that the Riddler is the weakest part of the movie. He had a gravitas to him. I will agree that the Riddler in The Batman movie is nothing like the Riddler in the comic's. That may be a turnoff for people that are more into the source material. As for me, I think this Riddler was great. I wasn't upset that this was a whole different take on the Riddler. I like the Zodiac Killer approach to his character. He didn't feel like a paint by numbers MCU villain. I also disagree with the take that you fear this Batman could die. That's on purpose. This is his second year before he becomes the polished Batman we know, and love.

No one in in the world can fight 6 guys and not take a hit, any top tier Ufc fighter would take damage. It’s badass to see Batman take damage and still fight, it shows his pain tolerance, and the way he fights here is way more impactful and powerful to me because he was using realistic fundamental martial arts rather than nonsense that would never work. You definitely don’t worry whether he’s going to make it out alive unless he’s fighting guys with high caliber guns, which if you’ve played the Arkham game a yea. Also the way affleck neutralized all those weapons was a real cop out. I like Affleck but the way he fights is beyond unrealistic, that’s why they had to do so many cuts and the stunt man had to do the majority of the movements on mats and shit
@TehZach1993
@TehZach1993 2 жыл бұрын
Who tf wants a Batman fight to be 'realistic'? What matters is comic accuracy and Batfleck's fighting style was the only time we ever had a Batman who could fight.
@mmargiela981
@mmargiela981 2 жыл бұрын
@@TehZach1993 this Batman could fight like a real fighter would fight, which since it’s a grounded movie is way cooler. Affleck fighting was all cuts and stuntmen anyway. Your opinion isn’t fact. The fighting in this was badass. What comic accuracy bro? In the comics he throws a big punch or a big kick and it’s like a freeze frame image, afflecks fighting is just some nonsense style, not comic accurate really either
@andrewsouthworth9730
@andrewsouthworth9730 Жыл бұрын
I think the reason why Pattinson's Batman takes alot of hits in this movie is because he's still a younger Batman who isn't that use to fighting thugs alot yet. Afflecks Batman was a more older more experienced Batman who has gotten use to fighting thugs and can handle himself. I hope as more films are made, we see more of the Pattinson's Batman taking less hits the more experienced he gets.

This is shown to us . Why would the viewer be concerned for this batman's safety ? Clearly he can survive everything .

@@jerrybierman9047 well in this movie he actually does that in one scene. Remember the scene after the funeral? When the car crashes and the guy has a bomb strapped to his head? And the riddler asks riddles and if he solves them then it won’t explode. That literally happens in this movie.
