Pattinson’s acting when he thought the riddler found out his identity was so good. He looked so scared that his identity was found out, and then you see his facial expression change so fast when he realizes riddler doesn’t know.

Sort of add on to that but it really helped was how whenever Batman was at a crime scene at the beginning of the movie there would be cops who have this “really, we’re letting THIS guy look around”. The scene of Batman staring at the mayor’s child, as Bruce sees himself in where that kid now sits was done perfectly to me. The emotion that Pattinson is able to convey in his eyes alone at many points throughout the movie is why he’s one of the best actors working right now.
@StevanChase
@StevanChase 2 жыл бұрын
That was in the script and asked for from the director. Also music and lighting helped. The directors decision to just hold longer on the profile view and pattinsons moves his eyes 👀 was intense. But not sure if I credit Pattinson for that choice.
@barryb.benson3370
@barryb.benson3370 2 жыл бұрын
@@StevanChase Things like that may be scripted by the writers and directors, but its completely up to the actor's skill to make it work. Some actors, like Pattinson here or Clint Eastwood if you want a really big name, can convey a whole range of emotion through body language alone. The way they walk, or smirk, or turn their head, or even just gaze at something/someone. You can put an actor like Channing Tatum in the same suit with the same lighting with the same writing and the same directorial cues, but he's nowhere near good enough to be able to pull off that level of nuanced physical storytelling.
@StevanChase
@StevanChase 2 жыл бұрын
@@barryb.benson3370 Why would anyone choose Channing Tho? But don’t act like Channing can’t pull off a better fight scene. Other parts yeah, not even close. Channing is not the guy. You chose someone way off to prove your point. That’s like me saying getting the makers of Trolls shooting this same shot with ugly lighting, corny music, awkward camera angles would be able to pull of that scene. Not even close no matter if Pattinson played Batman, it’ll come off like kiddish. I’m talking about that certain scene should be credited to many others involved with deciding on holding that shot and telling him to look left or right. He did an amazing job, but to much credit to him. especially when it’s obvious how much the production team enhanced every single beautiful shot. And the sound FX. It can be Roberts voice narrating a certain part and people are still saying wow he acted that part very well, I’m like wait what he’s not even in the shot and still crediting him. Don’t get me wrong, I loved his portrayal acting in this Batman. But they picked him for a reason. He’s always played a bit emo roles, sad, mad, and very calm in the face. Perfect pick if this is the kind of Batman they were going for. Movies go through a couple years in preproduction making sure the movie looked good before even casting.

@@barryb.benson3370 It’s like crediting the lead singer but not the whole band. And the drummer wrote the song
@barryb.benson3370
@barryb.benson3370 2 жыл бұрын
@@StevanChase I picked Tatum because he's a big star and does fit the "action hero" prototype you see superhero/scifi movies go for. It wasn't too long ago that I saw a lot of people pushing for him to star in a solo Gambit movie. My overall point was to illustrate that performances ultimately hinge on an actors abilities to portray the character. I personally don't think Tatum is a bad actor, but his skills are nowhere near what was needed here. I wasn't trying to downplay the efforts of the director or rest of the crew. Like I said, I was just trying to illustrate that no matter how well written/directed/etc a role is, you need an actor that can bring that character to life. If anything, you were the one downplaying Pattinson's skills. You give him credit and then say "well not really, he only read a line/looked in a direction". Also, a drummer can write a banger song, but if the lead vocalist stinks, the song is gonna stink regardless of how good the drummer/guitarist/bassist perform or how good the sound production quality is.

It showed, as great films do, the audience what he had to go through to become the iconic character. Plus I loved how he didn't have all his gadgets perfected, and everything on him had a purpose. I was legitimately terrified in the last third when their plan was revealed. But I also found the film to be surprisingly inspiring and touching. The scene of Batman leading all the people out of the flood was beautiful and symbolic of how even in an ugly world, there will always be good people to lead us out of the darkness.

This was my favorite little detail in the movie: In the first scene where the Riddler is standing behind Mitchell and in the scene where he pops up from the back of the DA's car, I thought, "He really doesn't think anyone is going to notice him being right there." Then, near the end, when Batman talks to him, the Riddler says "For my entire life I felt like I was invisible."

I think a great aspect of the movie that due to its hyper realism, when he was called freak throughout the movie so much it really put into perspective that this isn’t a superhero. Not yet. But he’s a detective, and dressed like Batman you get the sense that he is some kind of freak. This was the perfect Batman movie. And Pattinson absolutely destroyed the role as ledger did joker. He definitely went a 180 with this long after his role as Bullseye Paul Dano played the Riddler role really well, I wish we seen more of his face , that one scene with him in that jail cell was amazing. His facial expression with the smirk conveyed he is crazy deep down, an ordinary person on the outside but a psychopath on the inside. John turturro was surprisedly good as Carmine Falcone considering his previous roles I wish we could’ve gotten the Court of owls connection with the Wayne family , that’s the only letdown for me Robert Pattinson - a great Batman Zoe Kravitz - She was a good Catwoman Jeffery wright - a great Jim Gordon We finally got a detective based Batman after so long. Bro. Batman begins shows the city of Gotham full of fear toxin and all the criminals being left to roam. The Dark Knight shows a hospital blown, Harvey dent dies, Rachel dies, and it shows in the next movie The Dark Knight rises and how it affected Batman.And the Dark Knight Rises is the only one that shows a back to "normal" Gotham and even then Gotham was destroyed for 5 months from Bane. Bro Gotham never had a happy ending dummy.

@@dafunkymonkee I said what movies ended in Gotham in absolute chaos. Did you read my previous comment or? I'll be civil if you actually want to think logically about this. There's a reason I'm so extra about this and it's because I'm very disappointed in this movie. Then you got people who HAVEN'T seen the movie, give it a 10/10 just to be relatable and repeat what the last sheep said. My previous comments might have offended you and I don't apologize for that. If you're a true fan, you would realize this is an okay movie at best. But this has been over hyped since day one, the whole cast was mid at best except for Penguin. And Riddle me this, why is this Batman so invincible? He took gunshots, a rifle from 5 feet, electrocuted, and yet he's just fine. In the warehouse scene, where he's on the floor, he somehow miraculously go 200 feet away to his batmobile. How. Because he's Batman? Before you say that this movie is the "best comic book movie"? Then just know, comic book accurate doesn't mean perfect. For an example, the Raimi trilogy, and the Nolan trilogy. And those movies are gold standards for movies and superhero movies for a reason. This is not as good as everyone says. And I'm not alone on this so I know I'm not isolated on this. Before you also try to write me off as a "Marvel fanboy", I do appreciate the marvel films, but I'm also super critical on all the MCU films as well. There is a few movies that are a 10/10 for me but this movie isn't even a week old but it's a 10/10? Sure thing.

Yes, that's a good point. Things are a bit messy in Gotham that won't be solved because one criminal genius, who was one step ahead of the police, was put behind bars. Sure, the riddles were simple...and the Riddler was having fun with it. It tickled me a little when he called them out as "great" detectives. The next one should be awesome, hopefully. This one kind of reminded me of Batman Begins, where he learns and adapts as he goes along. 2 year Batman is not going to have all the answers...were there missteps in this movie, of course, but I loved that Reeves went "balls out" - I'm going back to see it again.

I watched this movie last night and I gotta say, this is by far the best cinematic rendition of the caped crusader since the dark knight graced the big screen. I love the fact that the film opted to take us on a journey alongside the worlds greatest detective as he solved clues and chased down leads left behind by the films main antagonist. I was skeptical at first when news first surfaced of Robert Pattison dawning the infamous cowl but man I have never been so happy to be proven wrong. He truly brought the emotional trauma and conflict to life for us to witness when playing Bruce Wayne and how he transforms into such a dreadful thought for menacing law breakers once he was in that epic suit sent chills down my back. I think the worst thing anyone can do when going into this epic Gem is over analyzing it, your too consumed about all the trivial details it distracts you from generally enjoying the film. Also what's important to note is that this movie takes place during the 2nd or third year of Batman coming into existence, with that said our hero hasn't completely fine tuned his abilities to hide his pain while wearing those Billionaire shoes, hence why you can see dark brooding character similarities between the Billionaire and his Vigilante alter ego.. The grim deteriorating state of Gotham and the dark filter used added such a hopelessness to the general feel of the movie and watching on as the film progresses seeing how Gotham embraces its most infamous hero at the very end made the journey so much more rewarding. The story line, the acting, the cinematography, the fight scenes, the score and every thing else was off tap. Brilliantly crafted and may just well be in my opinion the greatest take on the caped crusader ever. 10/10.

NOT saying the Nolan trilogy was bad by any means, it just didn't have what this has. More of an Arkham Asylum type Gotham.

I love Batman’s evolution through the movie. Starting out with more selfish motivations and then realizing he needs to be something more to actually change Gotham for the better. An angry symbol of fear and vengeance to a more hopeful beacon. It’s a more flawed, vulnerable portrayal that really pays off.

The Batman is an immersive piece of cinema from Director Matt Reeves. He approaches this age-old character with acute precision and deft ambition. This is very much a “bat-centric” movie, the screenplay is written with labyrinth effect, supplying depth and dimension to Batman’s inner struggles whilst establishing Gotham city as a nihilistic world. The neo-noir-detective-style narrative reinforces Matt’s passion for the lore allowing the audience to relish in an experience that is consistently engrossing throughout. The performances are superb, Patterson nails his stamp as the dark knight, what’s most impressive is his eyes and facial expressions. Reeves ensures his skills as a director by conveying an introspective version of the character, often utilising various closeup shots of the dark knight, allowing us an audience to remain up close and personal with our protagonist. This is his signature motif. The supporting cast for this particular Batman piece is majestic, everyone owns their part. Especially Colin Farrell as cobbletop aka the penguin. He steals every scene that he’s in whilst Jeffrey Wright’s - Jim Gordon is very “hands on” and his transition into the role is seamless. The score produced by Michael Giccinho is simply remarkable. Every note and symphony elevates each scene, giving it that extra bit of gravitas. Paul Dano’s performance as the Riddler is a sound effort on his part although I have slight issues with the resolution of his arc, it is a solid act nonetheless. Yes this film lives up the hype and expectations. Technically, narratively and tonally this is the perfect Batman film. 8/10.

Reeves talked about doing this sort of thing to stop predictions. Eg: having Barry dressed up as a cop on some sets to prevent guessing what character he actually is. So i think Reeves would have put Zoe on set for something along these lines, or to throw you off when you think she's getting out of the limo with her father. Perhaps even to really shock the people that like analyzing leaked set photos

Wow, saw it last night, what a great film and stirring sound track, really enjoyed it, Robert Pattinson delivers one of his best performances as a actor, I actually started to cry as he leads the survivors through the flood waters with a torch. He won me over by the end and really impressed me with his performance. I can't wait to see it again. I will admit when I am wrong and I was wrong about Robert Pattinson as he did a great job as Batman and has a brooding but controlled intensity that I did not think a former twilight actor was capable of. I was wrong and want to give credit where it is earned. Bravo to Robert Pattinson a great performance in such a physically demanding role. I am ready to let Robert Pattinson continue in this role for several more films as he has earned that right in this film. Matt Reeves does a amazing directorial job here as I love the score and soundtrack as well. A brilliant film all the way around!
