This is the first Batman movie that legitimately made me feel exactly how a comic would. He looked and felt like Batman. A large part of the Batman experience for me is the mythos and Iconography of the character. This is the first time I felt that in one of these movies he looked like Batman and he was shot like a comic character. This is kind of silly but I left the theater genuinely feeling like I wanted to be this version of Batman and that's something only the cartoons, video games, and comics have made me feel. It was awesome to have a live action Batman that felt like that. Every single incarnation before this, even when they were good, had to make compromises in order to adhere to certain visions that I don't necessarily like. This Batman was just incredible.

I think that this universe shouldn’t be too “realistic” like the Nolanverse. There definitely should be realistic elements like the gadgets or his suits, but not be afraid of things like Clayface or Man-Bat. Nolan seemed to be too afraid of that and it harmed his films, whereas Reeves might embrace it and make it feel grounded and real. As long as he can make it feel believable then that’s all that matters.

@@mttylerdurden9 I wouldn’t say that it made them stand out on their own; the exact opposite actually. There’s never been villains like that done in a live action Batman movie- it’s always been less supernatural characters. Joker had already been done twice, with both Jack Nicholson and Caesar Romero, Penguin, Riddler, Two-Face, etc etc as well, so not exactly outrageous, impossible villains, such as, Man Bat or Clayface. And that’s not to say his movies are bad, they’re not my favorite, although I really did enjoy Batman Begins, but again, even Ra’s Al Ghul isn’t THAT over the top, mainly because there was obviously no Lazarus Lit and that sort of thing. Although it could be argued that Batman & Robin’s villains were fantastical by comparison, albeit absolutely ridiculous nonsense. I’d definitely love to see villains like Clayface and Manbat adapted though- Ben Affleck’s Batman was the best chance we had for seeing things that, but obviously, his solo movie(s), unfortunately never came to fruition.

Since color is a big thing. Think of the second movie having a blue palette and set around Christmas. And maybe for the finale of the trilogy, we can get the classic Batman yellow as color palette. The sound design was so good for this movie. This Bruce definitely listens to Nirvana while on his many bike rides across the city.

The Batmobile was fucking kickass.. I actually thought it was more menacing that Bale’s Tumbler. It almost made me think of Christine (the Stephen King story- if you’re familiar with it, even just the concept, synopsis, general idea of the story or whatever, I think you’ll know what I mean), after seeing that scene when he and Selina, and Gordon, go after the Penguin (I think it was the Penguin they were after, it lead into the car chase), and he like, calls or starts the car, it’s just like, “Ohhh. Fuuuck.” lol.. Matt Reeves did some really awesome shit with this movie- the horror style elements, especially for the Riddler (and I think he needed that, to actually be taken seriously, as a real threat, especially after Jim Carrey’s rendition in Batman Forever)

I really enjoyed the usage of tech in the movie. It was somewhat high end, but also realistic. For example, the sepia tone of the recording contacts gave it a believable feel despite the face recognition software. Or the cape that became a squirrel suit. I would like to have a sequel with poison ivy or hush.

My personal interpretation was that this movie could more or less be a Bruce Wayne origin story. Because the comics and the cartoons has told us that Bruce truly sees himself as the Batman and thinks of Bruce Wayne as the disguise. And I feel like if they make a sequel, based on what he's learned from this movie he could or would utilize Bruce Wayne more. That way any Bruce Wayne moment going forward can also play an integral role in his detective and vigilante process, and not just fillers to show the actor's face.

I'm so excited, we are finally getting a movie that respects the comic source and read more than just Frank Miller. I can't wait for the sequel. I just hope the main villain is not the Joker, I'm all Jokered out personally I'm hoping for Mr Freeze Mad Hatter, Man Bat or Poison Ivy as long as it doesn't devolve into Schumacher Shenanigans. I think Scar Face wold fit in right into this world and would be perfect. I hope we get to finally see the rest of the Bat Family on screen.

I feel like Joker should be the Thanos or Emperor for this universe of storytelling. Where we know he's there, we see him making plans through the sequels and TV shows, but we save a full on Joker appearance and full on story for whatever the climax for Batman's arc is. Like that's his final journey.

I have a hunch that Matt Reeves plugged the Joker in that Arkham scene with the Riddler because he was inspired by the 60's version of Batman. That is because Reeves wanted to have the four most famous villains from the 1960's Batman tv show, which would be Catwoman, the Riddler, Penguin and the Joker. IMO

Spoilers: after Batman saved the city, they cut to Riddler, crying. And they showed another person talking, I literally was like “oh no,” I instantly knew who it was and I was extremely disappointed. “God dammit WB just couldn’t keep it in their pants.” I can’t express how much I am exhausted by the Joker. I don’t like Bruce Wayne but I hate the joker more. I think he’s an extremely overrated character. The reason I enjoyed the movie was because it felt so personal to Bruce and Riddler(s). Maybe we could’ve done calendar man or hush, Clay face, killer croc. I don’t know something new, anything then the damn joker. The only way it would work is if we don’t see anything Joker-related for the next 10 years. Giving his appearance more weight and hyping everyone but I already know that’s never gonna happen. Also that laugh was extremely weak. How does the Riddler out-laugh the joker?

It didn't bother me. At all. Because if you notice there's a distinction between how Batman and Bruce Wayne moves. Bruce immediately takes down people and moves fast. While armor clearly weighs him down. And I think it is more than just theatrics, this Batman's boots are just that heavy along with the added weight of the armored bits. This Batman clearly isn't the best fighter but he's a tank and he's trying to cover for his inexperience by putting on this front of tough and badass. I do definitely think, he'll ditch the wingsuit for a more glidable cape and decrease the over all armored look of the suit to move faster.

I’m with Tiffany about the theme, I low key hated it. It is so repetitive. My theory is that Matt Reeves was so obsessed with Nirvana’s “Something In the Way” being a part of the movie, that he requested the composer incorporate it into the theme. That song is only two chords and The Batman theme is the same two chords but syncopated to emulated the rhythm of Kurt Cobain’s vocal. It’s a neat idea but I think the overall effect is the composer was then boxed into using the very sparse elements of a very simple, 3 minute Nirvana song to create an orchestral theme and it just ended up sounding monotonous. I say this also be the rest of the score was delightful. Hopefully that theme develops and grows along with Batman’s character. *if you don’t believe me, go back and watch the first trailer and listen to how the two pieces of music weave in and out of each other.

I completely get people who aren't too big on the way they reworked the Riddler, character and design wise, but I really liked it. It felt completely necessary to me given how wacky the last version of the Riddler we got on film was, and I really liked the added dose of realism with the whole Zodiac inspired design. Plus I think making the Riddler a more serious villain would've been near impossible without changing up his costume, it works in the comics but I personally don't think I could take him seriously in live-action if he had the hat and suit. Then again unlike a lot of Batman villains I don't think that the Riddler's design is that important to his character, compared to the likes of say the Joker, Two-Face or Killer Croc. Whilst they did lean a lot more into the unhinged psychopath idea with him, I still felt they captured the core of the comic character, he made a game out of people's lives and even though he claimed to have a noble goal unlike comic Riddler, it was still driven by ego much like his actions in the comics are. It's definitely not what I'd call the definitive Riddler, but it's a great alternate take and probably my new favorite take on the character. My only problem with him was his final scene with the 'unnamed Arkham inmate' which to me basically sidelined the Riddler's presence completely to say 'here's this bigger villain'. Granted I can block that out since the rest of the film happened, but still it's not the note I feel the Riddler deserved to be left on.

However, when getting the initial bits of information about this movie years ago, as far as Matt Reeves directing with Robert Pattinson starring, I was a little skeptical, particularly because of his casting, but every single person in this movie delivered. This, at least for me personally, dethrones the Dark Knight. I hope people will finally shut up about Pattinson being in the twilight films. He's been in other movies but of course most of them were indie films so many people didn't see them

I have to disagree about Riddler. I think Riddler at times can deviate too far into similarities with Joker, that it was a nice change of pace to bring him more into the Zodiac Killer, Jigsaw space.

I honestly thought that was Two-Face in the cell at the end, I would highly prefer that than Joker AGAIN. For the next one I want Court of Owls, Scarface, Anarky, Killer Croc or Man Bat. I would've loved Black Mask, but they just did him.

The way they intro the Batman with horror vibe had me so giddy. Its such a great tone setter. Also, "I don't like how etc spoiled the movie. Here is the spoiler: etc etc" Like, come on dude. Not everybody spent time online looking up possible spoilers.

I'm for him having a Robin, but maybe a "We are Robin" approach of a social media influenced group of youths led by Tim (the brains) and Duke (the charm)
@nikcantsnipe

Maybe later on. Robin doesn't work without the original. Robin specifically has a meaning attached to it when its Dick. And he could easily just leave or get fired. Resulting in the rise of Robins across different social media.
@AnarchicArachnid
@AnarchicArachnid 2 жыл бұрын
@@nikcantsnipe i don't believe that really, especially in the modern age, that the original Robin story can work on any level even if he quits or is hurt or dies. Mainly in an age of everyone having a camera in their pocket and social media. the idea that a billionaire can claim a younger man(even if he's aged up to 17 and legally he's able to claim independence soon) who was probably semi famous due to his circus work(which supposedly Haly's is world famous) as a ward, both of them dresses up as crime fighters and no one find out. This goes especially if Robin wears anything like the original costume or even the Tim Drake full pants or n52 version. it's still 90% of his face, besides his eyes and nose ridge, are not covered in any way. also most of his build is exposed due to the sleek outfit, unless they change that. All you'd literally need to do is to photoshop the Robin costume on top of him in his acrobat days and compare it to Robin's photos & you got a match more than likely. This goes for not just Grayson but possibly every Robin besides Jason who, was almost never publicly apart of the billionaire side of Bruce's socialite life in his Robin years, Damien who is a trained assassin that knows how to keep below the radar and maybe Stephanie brown. To top this off, since you can literally post the images to every form of social media in hundreds of different ways, there no covering the story up or acting like no one potentially realized the person is correct. and you better believe the gossip and drama websites would be all over something like Bruce Wayne adopting and batman having a partner. I know there's suspending disbelief but they've already done a lot in this movie alone to make it seem grounded in a world close to our own using plausible advanced technology(the camera contact lens with microphone and the wing suit part of the bat suit ). So yeah it'd be kind if hard to buy especially if people are being looked up and examined like this movie. Now with someone like Tim, you can believe he'd found his own grass roots organization to help people even without Bruce. Duke's strong sense of justice and believing in batman would of course lead him to help especially if his family was victims of the flood or the resulting chaos, which you can use to draw parallels to stuff like Katrina. It's messy yes, I'll fully admit but that's my case for skipping Grayson and instead putting forth the we are Robin type thing.

@@AnarchicArachnid Well that's why it's a superhero movie based on comic books
@AnarchicArachnid
@AnarchicArachnid 2 жыл бұрын
@@kobi7955 yep, based but at the same time there's certain elements of what is presented that make it impossible to give you other elements, like for example if this next film wanted to introduce the playboy persona Bruce , it'd feel weird if everyone acted like that was always Bruce and not a recent change. by the same token, they just spent this movie showing how clinical and analytical the gcpd can be and how brutal gotham can be. and I'm supposed to suddenly buy a dick Grayson coming into the picture, surviving fights, becoming Bruce's ward and no one putting it together? nah
