These are excerpts from the book "Monocacy" by Alfred Roe, 9th New York Heavy Artillery. The videos are taken from where he stood and fought. The American Civil War Battle of Monocacy took place just outside Frederick, Maryland on July 9, 1864. It was fought between the forces of Lew Wallace and Jubal Early. This is also known as the Battle that Saved Washington. The battle was brutal. General Gordon said that some of the hardest and bloodiest fighting of the war happened on these fields.
This was my very first video on KZbin. I am certainly a work in progress. All videos were taken on site, close to where the events occurred.
No content was changed from the original. This is not intended to be a complete view of the battle but only what was experienced by Alfred Roe.
This is episode one in the "What They Saw" series. Brought to you by Peach Orchard Publishing, www.peachorchardpublishing.com
