My niece married her son, so about 4 years ago i had a chance to meet Lorrie: I asked her about this song, I said. "Lorrie, when you sang Don't Worry Baby with The Beach Boys you seemed to be having so much fun, what made you so happy?" Lorrie said, they were so sweet, they thought we were the stars and yet, they were the big stars, the music is so beautiful and I was so honored to sing with them backing me up." one of her favorite memories. and yes I like this better than any version of this song. I would love to hear her sing more of their songs.

She was SO beautiful that it was easy to dismiss her as eye candy and underestimate her vocals, but IMO she was always one of the very best female vocalists in country music. There was a handful from that era, when Lorrie was in her prime, who could take any song and knock it out of the park, and Lorrie Morgan was absolutely one of them.

This song always brings me back to 1964/65 when I was 10 yrs. old and when our neighbor, Lilly, played this song over and over all night long -- she was depressed that her boyfriend, Johnny, was going off to some place called 'Vietnam' and we felt so bad/sad for her -- happy to report that Johnny made it back home ALIVE, they married and had a few kids and I still think of them when I hear this classic song.

I actually like this version more than original. I know that may be sacrilege but the whole dynamic of the song changed with having Lorrie sing it. It became a girlfriends perspective about her boyfriend in the song. The original song was about just the guy's perspective. The original was awesome as well but I love this version better. Eight years later after this posted I'm still listening to it weekly on my KZbin playlist. Yes I know they released the song in 1996. 25 years later it sounds as good as it did the first time I heard it. Lorrie Morgan took the song to a whole different level. I've been listening to the Beach Boys since 1970. Mike Love's harmonies are epic as always! Sure wish they all were still with us. The songs they'd be still playing had they stayed together!

Pretty girl with a great voice and the Beach Boys haven't lost ANY of the magic they had in the 60's. Their sound is unmistakable. I grew up buying their albums. Yes ALBUMS, not CD's or MP3's.
