Last week after the hurricane off Carolina there was an ancient oyster shelf exposed and many tools and jewelry from the neolithic era were in a large trench running up the beach. The tools are of many varieties, but I too found this heavy basalt used for small knives and a petrified tusk that has been shaped into an amulet with the letter "Z" carved in it (the 12,000 year old artist signature- all the tools are various forms of hammers and small mirrors to signal up the beach. I used Google Lens for assistance. Your piece with the letters is remarkable.

I have a few hundred pounds of 'rocks' that I've found right in our yards and driveway. Had to laugh because so many are technically beach stones! I wore out a hip anteriorly, bending down to collect my treasures. I've previously sorted most of them by color, texture, then density/weight. I so wish I had a geologist friend! Now I am inviting two young grand daughters to help me do a final sort after which I will try to identify them more accurately. This is the most fun I've had in years ;-). We seem to be living in some sort of vein of soil that was pushed down from Canada. I am glad to have found your channel and will use it as one of my learning sites. Thanks!

I agree - the finding is only half of fun. The researching is the other half -and who knows? maybe one of your granddaughters will grow up to be a geologist!

Love your video! Thank you! Two small comments, google lens actually works well for rock identifying surprisingly. I noticed your little white nodule with pink inside in your flint bowl and was thinking that could be datolite. Might want to check it out. Have a great day :)

Do you have a link or more info on the brand of uv flashlight you are using? I would like to get my hands on a decent one rather than the cheap one I purchased off of Amazon. Love your content, your videos have taught me many things, for which I am very grateful.

I swear by masks. And ever since a bout with stage 4 cancer nine years ago, my immune system isn’t so hot - But thx to vaccines, mask wearing & hand washing, I haven’t been sick since Covid reared its ugly head 4 years ago. Not many people can say that.
