I am not sure how someone managed to email me a response to a comment I made a long time ago. However in response to Gemini 33, my comment was not rude and it is based in facts about states restricting collecting. I meant no harm to anyone - only to provide a little education myself. I happen to be a member of a geology club. We are taught to leave a place as good or better than we found it. If you don’t want to hear what other people have to say then skip reading the comments.

The first thing I would do is locate a local rock club in your area. They would have all the local information you are seeking. There are undoubtedly rouckhounding Facebook groups for your area, or at least Michigan, that you can join and interact with the people there. You will be surprised at the amount of people looking for the same things you are on social media. Good Luck!!

I hand picked some jasper from the mountain and some from the sea...and the sea one smells like someone pissed at it...first I put them in saltwater and dryer in the sun for a whole day...then some 30 minute light rain caught and the odor came back...so I washed them with a natural face cleaning soap and it kinda removed the odor but still...until they are completely dry they smell like sh1t...so I put them all together in shoe box and left it in the sun...gonna pick them up in a week and see if it actually dies out or stays forever with the rock...I'll definitely polish them but some are cooler as they are and I was wondering if there is any solution you tried that doesn't make the rock surface decay but still remove the odors...any suggestions us up for a try
