I’m so confused about how this situation even went this far. If you took a man’s deposit and then donated the car (yeah, right), you then refund the deposit. The defendant just got away with scamming someone out of $600, the show paid the settlement, and paid the defendant to be on the show. What a crock.

They won't. People are dumb. There is no good reason to buy a car without getting the title, unless you're buying it for parts. In that situation, you typically know there isn't a title. I've even seen people buy these types of cars on the cheap and use them on the track. You just have to tow it there. If you plan on DRIVING it, there's no reason to not get the title right then. They shouldn't be selling something they can't legally sell. Don't help them

Also, here in Canada, we do have a system for these kinds of situations. If both parties come into the DMV with valid drivers, they can explain to the DMV who can transfer the title from the prior owner to the buyer in one shot. Might have had to wait in line, but it would have saved him the cost of registration.

Naw, something ain’t right here. 🤔 How does the defendant go from wanting over $3000 for the car, to being willing to let the man have it for only $600? Either that car was stolen, or it was all a scam, and he never had any intentions of completing the sale to begin with. One thing’s for sure, if he really no longer has it, it’s definitely not because he “donated” it. If anything, he turned around and sold it to someone else.

Seller couldn't get title in his name. The car was HOT or a rebuilt (at a chop-shop) or something. Nothing the guy said makes sense. He's going to sell a $2000+ car for $600? Hardly. Plus, he said he still doesn't have title. So, the "donation" story is BS, too. Charities don't take cars without a good title certificate. My guess: Seller needed a fix. The car was bait.
