I had to re-upload this because the first one got a manual copyright block and even though I know everything I used was covered under Fair Use I had no idea how long a dispute would take. With Season 3 around the corner let’s hope they don’t block it again. Bummed that I lost some great comments about one of my favorite seasons of TV from the last couple of years but I suppose that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Let me know what you think, and how you’re hoping things will play out in the new season.

So thorough and detailed. My wife had me watch both season 1 and season 2 a couple of months ago. Could not believe what I had missed out on. The emotional beats have an authenticity that seems missing in a lot of today’s television. I appreciate your detailed recap to get us ready for Season 3. Enjoy the show!

Thanks for the reupload! I was half way through, and went to finish it this morning and was bummed. Your videos covering tv are the most insightful on KZbin for my money. Please keep it up!

So much detail hidden in plain sight. I forgot Marcus wore a red beanie for the first season, then switched to Blue after Copenhagen. For anyone who's worked in a kitchen, those red digital clocks are such an imposing factor. The cool, calm blue like we see in the Ever kitchen was a nice parallel. I could talk for days about all the crazy visual and audio details sprinkled everywhere... truly a fine feast for the palette.

Thank you. I have not the time to rewatch these and im about to dive into season three. Was looking for something in depth but this is beautiful. Ive tried to explain what it is about the bear that is so much better than a lot of shows, but couldnt articulate. Youve done just that and i agree about the richie episode

The Bear is one of the greatest shows in recent history and season two might be one of the most solid seasons of television…ever? I honestly can’t remember a block of TV that took me through so many emotions with so many characters that I managed to love, hate, and deeply empathize with, especially Richie.

I really enjoyed this analysis and season review. I really like your insight on Syd (who I also assume something deeper, possibly health related is going on with her). I think your read on Carmy is pretty much dead on except that we can blame Carmy for a lot of his own downfall. One thing that people usually forget about the episode of “Brigade” is that Syd tells Carmy about her past traumatic experiences with chefs like David in the past and the reason why she quit in “Review” is bc Carmy exhibits his ability to embody those kinds of chefs. This is a LARGE character contributor of Season 3. After watching Season 3, I am now more convinced than ever that Claire is not necessary to the storyline tho. A manic pixie dream girl character that doesn’t earn her place in the series takes up way too much time in the show and still no further development of her character besides that she wants to understand things so she became a doctor. While I like Molly, we have to accept that Claire is a largely forgettable character with no real stakes in the show.

I have such ingrained trauma that I shut off Episode 6 about 10 minutes in after getting the gist of what it was representing, and haven't ever thought or wondered about it since, it's a non episode to me, and will always stay that way (*edit: after first deciding to fast foward through the ep6 breakdown in this video, i decided to watch it, and allow the experience to be tempered by and seen through the prism of pete's analysis, i'm glad i did, i'm also glad i never watched the whole hour and six minute episode of raw pain, and now never have to, thanks pete!)

I really, really enjoyed season one and two. However, 3 episodes into season 3 and I'm done with Carm and the chaos. Many shows struggle in s03, this one's no different. Could've/should've happily ended near the end of s02.

I completely disagree. Carnen and "Claire Bear" have zero chemistry and their relationship feels forced. Carmy and Sydney have chemistry and they should happen.
@moptop43556 ай бұрын
I didn’t realize Clair was so universally disliked, but I can’t help but feel confused every time he mentions chemistry between Clair and Carmy and sort of agree with fans dislike of their relationship. It’s so painfully forced that it almost feels unnecessary which sucks because I genuinely don’t mind the plot line of Carm finding a romantic "distraction”. I was equally happy for him while wishing they would just skip their scenes altogether. She felt like deliberate filler and an unwelcome addition that definitely isn’t meant to last.
@jenn90275 ай бұрын
I don't like Sydney, she never apologized for her role in the pre-order disaster, and overall just comes across as demanding and elitist at times. I do prefer when her and Carmy are getting along, but only as friends, like Mikey and Ritchie were friends. I agree about Claire, but it was nice for Carmy to get his fantasy girl, considering how he put himself down, at least for a minute. Though I think her reaction when he was stuck in the freezer was a bit overboard, he wasn't talking about her, but the stress of the restaurant business, he just wanted to fix it and he was locked in a freezer. I've taken cold showers before, and my mood wasn't great during those experiences either.

@gothgirl22455 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure he meant that the idea of Fine Dining being the ultimate Act of Service career is silly. Personally I see the holistic appeal of an industry that has prestige, self-seriousness, and genuine passion as well as being a service industry making sense, but yeah. When there's literal nurse characters and you're saying Fine Dining is defined by it's service to others... a little tenuous
