22:45 the chocolate banana is referring back to the episode "Fishes" when Uncle Jimmy is recounting one of his happy memories of going to a chocolate banana stand with his dad. He's telling Tiff and Richie the story about the chocolate banana right around the time Tiff thanks Jimmy for getting Richie a job, as everyone starts sitting around the table for dinner.

@the_nikster159 минут бұрын
what makes this even more incredible is that Jimmy was telling the story to Tiff, and Richie overheard it. he is so good with people that he remembered a story he overheard 5 years ago and used his knowledge of it to deliver a fantastic dining experience to a patron. it's further proof that Richie is amazing with people and that this is truly his calling.

@@Knightowl1980 not highlighting it was really the true emphasis. A small moment most would miss, but Richie listened and remembered
@ryanevans856628 минут бұрын
@@LaCheeserie Completely agree. It's a detail that can't reside too close to the foreground when it first is introduced. Also agree with the point upthread that it's more meaningful in the way of Richie overhearing it from the Jimmy/Tiff conversation, as opposed to being directly in the conversation, himself.

Yeah, the girl in Forks was incremental to show Richie how it should be done but don’t forget that restaurant is a finely tuned machine, and The Bear is NOT! And with the guy smoking “barely meth” in the parking lot and Carmy stuck in the walk-in, she was down 2 chefs, and beginning to slip. Even when she took over for Carmy, they were still down 1 chef. But kudos to Richie and the scene with Jimmy C and the frozen banana never fails to move me. The slightest relaxing of Oliver Platt’s face when he sees the banana, and the special memory shared from 5 years earlier is just so special.

The whole cast of this show is dynamite but Ebon Moss-Bachrach is absolutely the episode's MVP as Richie. Richie's arc from being so unlikeable and oppositional at the start of the series to being a confident, reliable and calming voice in the kitchen while he's expediting the orders when Syd has to take a station is just so absolutely incredible, and Ebon absolutely earned both of the Emmys this role has landed him.

Richie is the MVP in this episode. Chef Terry: "He told me. He said you're good with people... he's not wrong" One of the ironies is that Carmy has been helping his people grow all season (Marcus to Copenhagen, Tina to culinary school, Richie staging in the best fine dining restaurant) such that when the sh!t hits the fan & he's stuck in the chiller room, they have all grown enough they can cope. But Carmy has not been working on himself, he's still broken, and stuck in the cold (literally in this episode).
@ShelbyBaby2713 минут бұрын

I really felt for Pete in this episode. Until this one he was just a comic relief-like side character, and here he's part of a really hard situation. The actor (Chris Witaske) did a great job.
@Henchman4Hire38 минут бұрын
That's one of the things I love most about that scene. Pete has been just the side character, like you said, and Didi had only ever appeared in Fishes before this. And yet these two mostly minor characters get to have this hugely important and emotional scene together, and both just nail it!

something i really love is that when richie has to take over for syd he somehow stays incredibly positive. he tells the whole kitchen he loves them and shouts out affirmations even while incredibly stressed, kind of like how he yells that he loves carmy at the peak of their fight. syd stays pretty rational but gets stressed out. carmy loses it. he berates his workers, he yells at them sydney had to check him to get him to calm down when he raised his voice to her. he’s not as bad as his former boss or at least not yet but it’s sad to see how he’s learnt to be this way. which i think is a big theme of season 3. one of three bear’s biggest themes other than grief is the cycle of abuse and what it does to a person, especially carmy. his mother, his old boss, even mikey at some points have all taught him anger and hatred. that’s why richie calling carmy donna really set him off. the show, to me, is about whether or not he goes down that same path or if he can get better. and i really hope he can.

Richie's big moment comes from what he said back in episode 6 "Fishes", when he tells Cicero he's good with people but doesn't really have an outlet for that. And we know he's always been FOH, even back when it was still The Beef, and we've seen him tell stories and whatnot. The only problem with Richie, all along, was that he never believed in himself and his potential. When Garrett and Jess show him that he can do it, he does it.

All carmen had to do is, is send Claire to voicemail, then call the refrigerator tech then call her back. However i think carmy has a self- sabatoging mentality , because he doesn't truly believe he deserves good things. We know he has never had a romantic relationship or friendship outside of his immediate family, but it's way more than that. However, Ritchie was out of line and incredibly wrong for berating carmy for not going out there to speak to Claire while they're doing this incredibly important dinner and one man down at the time. Because he then went in did just that causing them to slow down and make a plate cold. Then carm yelled at Sidney for his mistake. Sydney knew she couldn't speak to her father at the wrong time and he's incredibly important to her as welll.
@ShelbyBaby274 минут бұрын
@@bethanychatman9531 Don't forget Carmy yelling at Sydney comes after him thinking he saw his former boss at the restaurant. Carmy never questions why he would even be there and he normally questions his delusions. Self- sabotage indeed..

If Donna would have showed up to The Bear opening drunk and/or high, you would not want Pete to encourage her to stay for a meal. Donna would be seeing Carmy for the 1st time in at least 5yrs, at the restaurant she hasn't been to since Mikey died while Nat makes a late pregnancy announcement. That's alot to drop on someone who isn't the most stable. You've got to meet people where they are, even parents. The accountability Donna showed regarding her kids is commendable. As painful as that is, Pete did the right thing...

I think forcing the mom in would have risked her having a meltdown beyond her control once inside. And she didn’t want that to do that, risk ‘ruining it’. It broke her heart but in a way it was a kindness she was attempting. Perhaps it would have been okay, and her intention was good (she *did* turn up, get dressed up) but her mind and emotions just wouldn’t allow it in the end. She was being quite self aware to Pete, and you could see it was devastating her, making her miserable and alone. How many times has she probably tried to do things like this, take part, only for it to then go badly. Doesn’t mean it’s not hard on the family, and selfish in a way, others suffer, but she’s clearly goes through hell each day. A lot of trauma, struggle, illness and guilt there.
