I think the phrase “In general” would make more sense than “In a nut shell” in the context of what he’s saying

@@bahasaarab4046 We cannot expect completely ideal word choices when someone is sharing their thoughts like this rather than reading off a previously written speech; this brother is human and susceptible to human flaws, much like you and I, Alhamdulillah. And Allah Knows Best.

An interesting vid and the Ustadh as always is entertaining and thoughtful. However, I didn't really get from the video why the beard in itself is important. The Ustadh clarifies that it is obligatory and that is the consensus viewpoint, but he doesn't say why the beard is or should be obligatory. Is it for some hygiene reason? Does it have symbolic value? Any thoughts from fellow viewers?

I think it alienates those among us on whom a beard both looks and feels terrible. Not everyone can grow an impressive and handsome beard like Middle Eastern men. So instinctively I think it is wrong to focus on something which becomes an object of extreme vanity among men. One would think that the monotony of shaving nevertheless requires far less time AND eliminates the hours one would otherwise spend in front of a mirror, primping and fussing with their beard, which again, is equivalent to vanity and obsession. I've tried growing a beard several times many years ago. It looked terrible, there were bald patches everywhere, I was forever breaking out in a rash on my face and neck, etc. If a man is of a race and ethnicity for which a beard is natural and second-nature, then by all means, let him grow it. But do NOT alienate and cause to feel inferior those among us for whom a beard is nothing but an uncomfortable, unattractive, unhygenic and therefore both unnecessary and undesirable burden.

I feel the need to reword my original post to more accurately convey my thoughts on the matter. Simply put, I think it alienates those among us on whom a beard both looks and feels terrible. That is to say, compared to a Middle Eastern man, many white, Black and especially Asian men cannot grow beards like that. Not everyone can grow an impressive and handsome beard like Middle Eastern men. So instinctively I think it is wrong to focus on something which becomes an object of extreme vanity among men who CAN grow one, and an object of jealousy, envy, resentment and feelings of inferiority on the part of those who CAN'T. Can you honestly believe and tell yourself that Allah Subhanahu Wa'Taala intends for this? I cannot bring myself to accept that. I was miserable and very unhappy. To conclude and restate, if a man is of a race and ethnicity for which a beard is natural and second-nature, then by all means, let him grow it. But do NOT alienate and cause to feel inferior those among us for whom a beard is nothing but an uncomfortable, unattractive, unhygenic and therefore both unnecessary and undesirable burden.

Johnson Steele the growing of beard is referred to those who shave it . Those who can't grow it they are not to blame. It's Allah that made them without beard

Its obligatory to leave the beard thats all. How it grows is up to Allah. Its not about looking impressive. Im black and my beard started not even on my chin but more like my throat. Eventually it kept going and going the patches went away now its full alhamdulillah. But i left it because it obligatory not about how it looks. Imagine me saying well it shouldn't be forced on me to read salaatul maghrib out loud when I'm leading because my voice isnt impressive. i wasnt born muslim or speaking Arabic i dont have that nice sounding arab voice... does that make sense

@@saheedibnyahya3920 First of all, all of The 4 schools of law agree that you CAN SHORTEN your beard, what they disagree on is how much can you take from it. Stop spreading opinions that are not True and make it Hard for some believers, This is very clear when you study fiqh that a person May SHORTEN theit beard but they differ on how much, And Allah knows best.

I believe Allah will always know best just try the best you can Allah is the all knowing and the most just something the speaker forgot to talk about is essentially those who aren't able to grow it is their a alternative or something else I think I'm all honesty it's a symbol of piety however piety can be shown in many ways such as with character and how you carry yourself. If you cannot then it's Allah's decree no matter how much your try it won't work if you can but you don't like the look come to a compromise maybe get a goatee or something small and easy to manage you can always come to a middle ground in most matters
