A bit of US trivia: that car is set up for use in California. You can tell because one of the red lights on front does not flash.

@@TestGearJunkie. I think it goes back to the earliest police cars that had one big red light on front and that was it. The law should probably be updated.

@@01cthompsonYeah, could be. To be honest the mere thought of forward facing red lights is alien to me, we have red lights on UK police cars and other emergency vehicles now, but they're only rearward facing.

@@TestGearJunkie. In the US each state can have their own laws regarding the lights. In my state of Connecticut you must yield to red lights on emergency vehicles, but not blue.

Here, it's blue lights always, red is mainly only used on emergency vehicles after they have stopped at an incident, I can't recall ever having seen flashing reds on the move, but I could be wrong. But one rule is paramount, red must never be shown towards the front of a vehicle.

A real US police Charger would is equipped a little different than this one. As you mentioned, there would be a partition between the front and rear seat but there would also be no gun rack between the front seats, the back seat would be molded plastic to make cleanup easier, and there would be a laptop PC pretty much in place of the two walkie talkies. The way the one show is equipped would be more consistent with an unmarked or detective vehicle. Also, only the police package Chargers have the shifter on the column, the rest have it on the console. It's done this way so that an aftermarket console can be fitted for all of their equipment without having to account for a shifter. It also keeps the officer's hand closer to the steering wheel and the hand held radio mic closer to their mouth if they need to use it while turning the vehicle around.

We use this car in the US quite a lot in the States that have long roads, and forever winding Interstate exits. The 270 brake horsepower, 400 bhp motor is designed t o take massive abuse, and MASSIVE DAMAGE. I have seen plenty of these Chargers take hits to the engine and keep on chugging(Bullets, that is)...

That model Dodge ceased production in 2023, it was the last four door sedan police car of any make. US Police now use mainly Ford and Chevrolet SUVs or light trucks. The SUVs are as fast as the sedans, and carry more equipment.

I moved to the states a few years back and this was the first vehicle i bought but it has the 6.2 engine..lookswise its a beast and in a straight line its mental .. if only it could go round corners like a bmw m3 😂

@@WayneKerr69420 the BMW 740D is faster yet weighs more and is under that BHP figure. A 340i which is used by the police is also faster as standard without any tuning. Its poor engineering. Even the X5’s used by the police are faster, that’s saying something really.

I’m Canadian and hearing him call the charger ginormous is very funny. The local cops here hate the chargers because they say they’re too small and hard to get into because of how low they are. They prefer the FPIU but hey I guess it’s all about perspective.

The red light in the light bar will be on the back, not the front. It’s actually an offence to display a red light to the front of a vehicle.

Hello law brother in the u s we would have a half cage in the back where you would be sitting and also the thickness of the where the rear tires are behind the rear tire we have our computer harnesses and power boxes to certain equipment stores there as well tip my hat to you guys for what you deal with out there as well and thanks for 19yrs

Off topic: What is that SUV in the background by the building? It looks like an 80s Chevy S10 Blazer. Or, maybe a Hurricane. But, the turn signal on the quarter panel isn't correct. The grill doesn't look quite right either. I had an S10 and it was one of the best vehicles I ever owned.

What i like about the american cars is the fact they're disposable and replaceable and they are mean over here in the mid 00s we had diesel astras that would get left by someone in a corsa in the states you had new shaped chargers and what was left of the crown vic fleet but your bog standard crook in a iroc z couldnt out run them 😂 i know we've got budget cuts but there was a time bens old units used to have scoobs and evos

Yes, although the civilian and pursuit 5.7L HEMIs are both the same. The police package cars could also be optioned with a 3.6L V6
