I feel like one of the few who actually enjoy 'The Beatles Story.' It is an irrelevant album in 2024 but still a lot of fun. I couldn't justify the price of the box. I bought the albums separately. My 'Meet The Beatles' is the Target blue. I also picked up a sealed purple label 'Beatles Story' in stereo. If Universal/Apple/capitol really wanted this box to sell, including 'introducing the beatles' as a box exclusive would have done the trick. For future boxes, imagine the box version of Yesterday and Today being the butcher cover and the separate version being the trunk cover. That would sell like crazy!

Received my box yesterday. What I would say is I played them on a Stereo cart on my main Rega deck and thought really nothing special BUT then played Beatles 65 on my Technics with a Mono cart and the difference was massive so now playing through them all again on that. Great sounding set if you ask me. Plus every disc was clean, free of flaws and perfectly flat.

I opted to buy the six albums separately and I just opened and listen to meet the Beatles And I thought it was awesome and I love the way they did the booklet with the picture of the master tape on it and how they actually put in the original sleeve from capital

Downright exciting to see the pristine, beautiful packaging - & to see the albums EXACTLY as I bought 'em in Mono when I was 10 & 11 (excluding STORY & EARLY BEATLES, both which I never bought - your dad & I had almost all the "early" stuff on other records or even 45s). When I was 10, the orchestral instrumentals on A HARD DAY'S NIGHT annoyed me like crazy & I never played 'em, manually skipping to all the vocals; but I like the orchestral kind-of-bland-jazz tracks now, as indicative of the Time.

Interesting how they made the outer sleeve UK-style gloss cardstock with printed-on graphics, instead of US-style gray cardstock with slicks.

These days, the printed on graphics is cheaper than reproducing a tip-on sleeve, which ironically back in the 60s was the cheaper production technique. It probably would have increased the retail price $3-4 per LP for tip-on sleeves.

When I was a kid there was no internet and only a couple TV channels. The story cover was beautiful and we didn't know much about the Beatles and this was cool for about 5 or 6 plays

Thank you for the video. Though being pedantic "Early Beatles" wasn't actually released until 1965! Maybe a nicer idea would have been to have had a repro of the VJ Introducing Album instead which was released in January 1964

Got this for Christmas. I discovered something unusual about The Beatles 2nd Album. I don't know if it's a mistake, BUT, "I Call Your Name" is an alternate take. That's NOT the cut we all know and love. I pulled out my vintage LP and it's correct. I don't know if they knew this or not, but either it was intended, or unintended? Thoughts?

I really hope I get my boxset... I was determined to wait it out until prices came down, but now they seem somewhat limited & heavily allocated (Amazon bought most of them), so I preordered one a couple days ago from The Sound of Vinyl webstore, mainly because I found a working 20% off coupon. Doesn't look like they shipped it yet though, so that's a bit worrying. :/ I ran out to Target and got MTB at least... Had to have something on release day to show for. Really nice looking, super pleased with it. Hoping to give it a spin tomorrow! Anyway, looking forward to your followup video! 🍻

A Hard Day's Night should have the insert pal. I didn't get the box, i just cherry picked what i wanted which was MTB,65,EB and i like the fact that they are nice and loud compared to the 2014 Mono albums, however they are certainly not as good sound quality as the UK albums in fact nowhere near. Ok to own for me because i live in the UK and you just can't get the USA Capitol albums easily at all, and they are expensive when you can get them, so to be able to get them brand new all analogue in such good quality is a no brainer as i will never get them else. But they are just a curio and nice to have and look at, certainly not for sound quality. But thanks for showing us the whole collection and box.

The UK retail price for the new The Beatles 1964 US Albums In Mono box set is $250.60 (199.99 GBP), while we are being charged a lot more in the US, retailed here at $299.98. We are being overcharged here in the US! What a rip-off Apple/Universal! Shame on you all.

Admittedly, not a fan of the Capitol "albums". Being a first-generation fan with original copies, I did notice a couple things. As I won't be buying them, thanks for giving us a look at them, as I was curious about the reproductions. Like you, the color tone is off on a few of the album covers: the inner sleeves seem a lot lighter in tone than the originals. Again, thanks for an informative video, Brian.

Man, I got the hard days night just to see if all these reviewers got it right. Many saying it sounds great. You gotta be kidding me. If all of these disks are anything like what I got this is a serious waste. Just go get the OGs. Disk dirty straight away with surface noise. I cleaned with humminguru. Much quieter but inner groove distortion. Geez this is horrendous. Sibilance too. Pressed at MPO gah. I am done with any new Beatles vinyl. They have totally killed everything they have done in the last few years. Terrible cuts. Jeez. Don’t buy this muddled mess. Side B of hard days night has tape wobble. This is like AM quality stuff. Don’t waste your money. If this is the reflection of the state of these tapes…. Wow. They are shot. These are not worth it IMHO. Just go get the BC13 box and just be done. Beatles in mono…though interesting…. Don’t sound good.

Well I will assume you are not a first or second generation US Beatles fan. ALL British Invasion bands got at least an equal treatment here in the US. The Dave Clark Five really got it bad here with LP sides only lasting 10-12 minutes and everything in fake Stereo.

@@dietmarsteiner1070 As a Beatle he makes money off the sales of any of their products that sell. He does not make the additional money for the publishing which goes to Sony. He has been reselling the same stuff for years in various forms, including the "special" reissues of this solo stuff. Back in the 60's the Beatles made a point of not "reselling" songs that were already available. John specifically said he thought that was ripping people off. Paul never said this. Allan Kozzin interviewed Paul a short while back and he brought this point up. Paul answered that he wasn't the Beatles! He also added that it wasn't him that made these things, but he gives approval to them. It seems to be a Beatles fan one has to be willing to fork over hundreds of dollars a year for all of these sets. A few weeks ago we got a box set of George's "Living in the Material World"! I don't buy any of them with the exception of Beatles ones with the extra material. I would rather spend my money on real Beatles stuff for the 60's, the American records.

Brian is not to blame. The quality on this set is horrendous like normal for any recent beatle releases. These disks sound terrible. My hard days night had so much surface noise…disk looked clean but after a Humminguru session it was much quieter. Inner groove distortion as well. What a waste of money. If you want the Beatles just get the BC13 box and you are done. The Beatles in mono sounds so congested and muffled in general. There is zero space. Sounds like they are in a hole. Highly suggest not giving the apple scruffs more cash. Terrible!!!! This sounds like AM radio.
