How many KZbin videos of past bands have people from around the world still praising them? I have always felt completely lucky to have lived through seeing them on Ed Sullivan back in February 1964 and following their amazing music through the years. They still sound fresh.

Heidi Conrad : Heidi, you are a bit off. They changed the WHOLE WORLD, not just the music world. I lived thru Beatlemania as a young boy in Dallas, TX and Oklahoma City, OK! What a joy it was when a new Beatles album came out.
@golfhound5 жыл бұрын
@@stevecurtis4785 Me too. I was living in Europe as a young lad and got to experience the Beatles on European TV in early 63. A whole year before they came to America. What a time to be alive. The Beatles were so incredibly big in Europe in the early days. In 1963, America had Elvis and Europe proudly claimed the Beatles as their own. It was a thing of great pride. And you're right. The Beatles changed the world. Did you know that according to Ringo, Elvis tried having the Beatles banned from the US in 1964.
@sharigreen92525 жыл бұрын
@@golfhound How lucky you were to experience the phenomenon a year before we Americans. But when it finally arrived, there was nothing like it before or since. Sure there had been Elvis and Sinatra, but Beatlemania was different. We baby boomers were coming of age and to experience the Beatles firsthand was extraordinary. Recently I discovered on KZbin clips of the Beatles in November 1963, one on the day when JFK was assassinated. I never saw them or knew of their existence until after the New Year in 1964. I just discovered that in 1/3/64 a day before I turned 12, there was a clip shown on Jack Paar's program which I never saw. No matter. After Ed Sullivan it was all over and I was and still am a full-fledged Beatles fan. I am now older, of course. Seen a lot of groups come and go and in my mind's eye, there has never been anyone like them. I don't think we'll ever see the likes of it again. At least not in our lifetime.
@The22on5 жыл бұрын
@@stevecurtis4785 Yes - a new Beatles album was like getting a new car. You went crazy looking at (and listening to) every detail. It was a really big deal. You tried to decide which song was your favorite. But mostly, you just sat in wonder at the incredible songs on the album.

*It makes my heart hurt to see this...because of a time that's gone now* ( *Was it really all that 'wonderful' then? No...it wasn't...but what the Beatles did was 'magic' in it's best form, something even they themselves were not aware of, but the fans were...we KNEW the 'Fab Four' was for us, for our generation...even if it was only a dream, a delirium of fantasy...we all knew 'They're one of us...they see what we see and what we think...and it's great!* )
@gerrynightingale90455 жыл бұрын
*ps...this was a 'kick-ass' performance from them, 'Live' and 'Raw' with very poor recording equipment...and still they sound great...as close as any of us will ever get hear them as they actually were on-stage*
@gerrynightingale90455 жыл бұрын
*Good on yer, mate!* ( *did I get it right?* ) *As an interesting anecdote...despite Lennon's 'impeccable ear' for when a song 'sounds right'...he was not very good at 'keeping time' in performing a tune...and it's interesting that as soon as 'Richie from the Dingle'came in, everything began to 'come together' in performing, especially live* ( *If you listen to a 'live' performance of "Please Please Me"...you can plainly hear it's Richie that's 'driving' John's lead vocal! He's slamming hard to cue Lennon...in fact he's driving the other 'Three' which was no small trick with three 'virtuosos' in a 4/member band! Like 'putting sweaters on three cats at the same time as putting your own on'* )

"Their famous manager Brian Epstein"? He was only famous because he was manager of the Beatles! The hysteria which went with the Beatles was a great shame and totally ridiculous, what was the point if you couldn't hear them play? No wonder they gave up touring. At least when they started in the Cavern in Liverpool and in Hamburg they actually listened to the music.
