You kept mentioning an orchestra. There is no orchestra on this track. It's just the 4 of them. The basic track plus some overdubs of Paul on backing vocals and piano and a revised vocal track from John and that's about it. :)

Devin, you’re a great host for your channel. One thing I tend to do is laugh when I hear reaction channel hosts say that they want suggestions for more Beatles songs to react to. The Beatles were so extremely diverse in their music that I’m tempted to say “pick any album and any song off that album and you’re in for a great listening experience.” The Beatles were and are the greatest band in the history of recorded music. Their music will live on forever.

The last three you heard were from their late albums, which were one of their greatest works. You should listen to their earlier music that really started it all. "I feel Fine", "I saw her standing there", and "all my loving" are some of their nice music to get you acquainted with their youngest sounds!

This song is full of 'non sequiturs,' or things that don't flow logically or follow each other. It was pretty revolutionary, because at the time, music was supposed to be lyrical and songs had to make sense. The idea that someone could put together a mish-mash of words and yet make it 'come together' anyway was crazy. Naturally, that mean The Beatles had to blaze that trail. Of course, there have been nonsense songs before this, but nothing this bold and effective, or that became as popular, as 'Come Together.'
@dannygriffith6185
@dannygriffith6185 2 жыл бұрын
They actually started the "non sequitur" lyrics with "I Am The Walrus".....2 years earlier. John wrote the lyrics to this partially to poke fun at how serious some people & music journalists at the time took their lyrics. John pretty much had a wink & a nod and said..."see what they make of this!".....Of course we got another great piece of psychedelia from them!

Didn't they write all their songs through the music first and then write lyrics? That's a unique way to write music and I feel like they had a gift writing poetic nonsense imagery to amazing music.

You Should Listen to “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” or “Something” Next. Those are off the Same Album. Also if you’re not already, I would recommend listening to the new Remixes because the 2009 remasters were made digitally, but the new Remixes were made from the original master tapes. And they sound 100x better.

You picked a great group to dissect, there are literally scores of great tunes to listen to, in every genre and style of music, written smartly and with wit. Shock yourself by checking out Helter Skelter, amuse yourself with I Am The Walrus, or try the brilliance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps; Paul, John, and George are the writers of those songs, in that order. Enjoy!

For context, you should watch the Beatles Documentary with their rooftop performance. Just the 4 of them with Billy Preston on piano. Normally, they'd overdub the piano - probably Paul - but this was live and Billy Preston - who was a huge fan and friend - stopped by and happily took over piano and organ.

What is that, that was the guitar overdub, the flat third and the 5th above the usual chord. Usually the bass is playing the minor third as the last note of that riff, so the guitar leaves it out. It gets volume in and out to sound like violin strings, maybe with vol on guitar or maybe the desk. It also gets faded left right to add freakyness. I also suspect but could be wrong that this overdub gets played in reverse. It sounds so weird and beautiful at the same time. This new mix in 2019 is the best. The drums go to 12.00 o clock for the keyboard comp then back to the pan. Also it is sent to Tidal in hi res and this makes a huge diff to capture the sound of studio 2 with the drums and reverb of the drums. That sound in hi res and qual hphones is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Come together is just another way of saying love.

FYI: _non sequitur_ is just a simple piece of Latin, meaning (literally) "it doesn't follow". Crass example: "I love Blues, so I hate Rock" Better example: "Got to be good-looking, 'cos he's so hard to see" (a Lennonesque _non sequitur_ , at any rate ;-) ) As for the 'meaning' behind the lyrics - there ain't any: it's just PURE English Nonsense (think Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, Spike Milligan etc - the sort of thing we have always LOVED here in England !). Much Love from Across the Pond, my Friend !

John brought this song in and when he played it for Paul, Paul realized it was a rewrite of Chuck Berry’s “ You Can’t Catch Me”. It was much quicker. So Paul and Ringo played around with the tempo. Slowed the song way down and tried to give it a swamp rock vibe.
@patticrichton1135
@patticrichton1135 Жыл бұрын
It wasn' t a total rewrite of Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me." It was just John's first line "Here come OLD flat top, HE COME GROOVIN' UP SLOWLY .." WHERE In Chuck Berry's song, it was "Here come A flat top, he "WAS MOVING UP WITH ME." "OLD" flat top in Lennon's song, and "A" flat top in Berry's song. But the last part of those lyrics were different.

Beatles are the Best 1. They came different on each song. 2. They introduced Melody to Straight Forward Rock 3 John Lennon utilized the 3 finger Ukulele chord to Rock. This is probably the dirtiest sounding chord , so raw, even Jimi Hendrix added this chord. 4.They avoided the latter up and coming bands subscription to same ole same ole R and B trend, thank god,, Because when they came around to writing a few later, they showed all the Zep, fans, Clapton fans and of course the Stone how to create a blues song that didn't use the standard Blues structure, never mind the fact they used the taboo B7 in a Blues Song., oh Lord. Tack on the1st Rock band to bend notes a half step up / down, seriously the innovations outnumber their hits.

There was a Beatles’ hoax about Paul being killed in car accident. This song played well in the hoax. Come together over me, seems to be referring to a funeral. 1 and 1and 1 are 3, only three Beatles left. Must be good looking because so hard to see, people get buried in there best clothes. He’s got feet down below his knees, and so on. It’s an interesting rabbit hole. Even the album cover has Paul barefoot, John dress like a preacher, George dressed as a digger and Ringo dressed in black as a mourner.
