Just to clarify, this is one of the last times they were together while being filmed. The last known photo of Ringo, Paul and George together was around 2000. They would have one last private meeting when George was dying from cancer.

What's wild is seeing how totally different the Beatles could sound - this is old school southern blues they are doing here, probably the same stuff they were playing at 15, and managed to sound completely authentic. That's just pure love of music.

I was in the same 'room' as The Beatles. I saw them, live on my 9th b-day. 22Aug1965 PortlandOR USA My first thought was, 'That's really them' They played for 35 minutes, but it seemed much longer. It was smack dab in the middle of Beatlemania. Girls were screaming and crying at the same time. I was 9 It was the best place to be on the Planet.

Just seeing the three of them together at that point in their lives gives me chills. And the what ifs. If John hadn’t been murdered, would they have done anything together somewhere down the line. But we have their music for eternity. And the memories any particular song brings back for all of us. I know whenever I hear a Beatle song, some memory pops into my brain.

Fantastic to see the remaining three Beatles together (RIP George) and they were all still looking so young and healthy, as late as 1994, I could have sworn this was 1995 because that's when The Beatles Anthology was first aired Nov 1995.. What I find to be really strange is that this was around 27ish years ago from today 2022 and it was to commemorate 25 years since The Beatles split in 1970, however at the time 1970 to 1995 felt like many decades separated these eras but it was only a mere 25 years, where dramatic changes in fashion had occured and musically, yet 1995 to 2022 only seems like a 10 year petuod at the most where nothing hardly changed in fashion or music wise.. Makes you realise and appreciate how great we had it, being spoilt rotten with the fabs and other fabtastic music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and I suppose the 90s the very last decade of classic music.

George didn't like that Paul had to lead The Beatles after Brian Epstein died. Ringo said that without Paul, their output would've been half of what Paul made it be. George wrote 5 great songs, and wanted to be treated as the equal of John and Paul, who wrote over 100.
@TheKevza
@TheKevza Жыл бұрын
@@gordeauxd this is what I always say when people talk about George wanting equal output. He never had the catalogue of songs that Paul had. I mean, he got freedom on the white album and we got piggies and savoy truffle lol you can't just give another member of the band equal billing if they don't have the songs to back it up. George's ego was the biggest issue in the end I believe.

@@TheKevza To be fair, I LOVE George's contributions to the White Album (not Piggies so much) - and his work on Abbey Road and eventually All Things Must Pass suggests he had a spell there where he was working at the same level as J+P, and of course in the early days in Hamburg they would share stage time and lead vocals almost totally equally, which took a back seat. I can imagine both Lennon and McCartney would be a nightmare to be in a band with, even though I think they were fundamentally good guys.

I was 35 when this was filmed. I had been a Beatles fan since the beginning when I was a child. My whole generation loved the Beatles. Seeing this was very cool, bit it tugged on my heart that it wasn't really a reunion as it could have been... John wasn't there. They were the absolute best band of all. All of them matured into good people and the message of their music was simple; all you need is love. They said it from the beginning all the way to The End... not a bad legacy for four poor kids from Liverpool....

I was reading something about the Beatles and it was from an observer rather than a Beatle. But they were talking about the carmarderie was still there, and as soon as they started into their very first song, they were just on it, you could see exactly why they are and remain the best. I don't know who you are, but I absolutely agree. Their genius and personalities shine through with stifling each other and the songs. Rest in Peace John and George, see you soon guys.

Ever since they stopped touring, there's always this weird, very, very slightly dysfunctional chemistry when you'd see them (3 or 4 of them) together. I describe it like this: Ringo just adores and cherishes being with "the boys." His love is unconditional. George is okay with Ringo, but George has this thing with Paul. I wouldn't call it hate. But I would say there's a low-level resentment of Paul. Probably born out of jealousy or envy. For Paul's part, he's going to command the room any time they're all together. He's the most outgoing and he likes being the center of attention. Besides, SOMEBODY'S gotta do it. He's aware of the fact that George isn't his biggest fan, but he tries to be civil and keep the optics good. All three of them are amazing talents. And yes, to have had John there, with them, in the flesh, would've been the absolute best.

When The Beatles started recording "Free As A Bird" in Feb.1994...the UK papers said that "The 3 Beatles will be playing a MASSIVE concert in Central Park in NYC during the summer. The Beatles will be paid $35,000,000 US each...and might be joined on stage by Sean and Julian Lennon!" Of course it never happened. In early 1996...they were offered $250,000,000 for a tour of the US...UK...and Japan...and Sid Bernstein offered them $500,000,000 for 20 minutes at Shea Stadium on August 23, 1996...all offers were refused.

Although firsts and lasts of important groups are noteworthy I am thinking about the many, many meetings these gentlemen had when they were in the midst of creating music together. I am thinking of the meetings when things clicked. When John brought in a part of a song and the others added their bits and their opinions and the song became what we would recognize. Imagine the give and takes, the suppression of ego, the friendly banter, the unfriendly banter, the joy, the brilliance and the foolishness that on myriad times would lead to the creation of some of music’s masterpieces. I like to think of four lads giggling together while a maelstrom of fan fed insanity whirled around them. How many meetings where bonds of brotherhood were forged and sadly where some were broken. I want to celebrate those meetings too.

4:33 George always told this story of how the Beatle cut started, but it's different than what others say. Originally when first asked in 1964 he said "I came out of the pool and my hair was forward and the others liked it so it stuck". Here he retells it with a slight variation, but the consensus is what Paul says, that it was Astrid, Jurgen, and Klaus that initiated it. Notice how George starts uking over him, since that contradicts what he just said

A great set of film clips. All three elements (studio, garden, coffee table) are available to see in longer versions on KZbin. When I originally saw the full studio film on its own I had wrongly assumed it was at Paul's studio in Sussex and didn't initially realise that they were all filmed at Friar Park. George's reference to meeting somebody backstage in the 1970s was Elvis Presley. In the longer version the explanation is more evident, they had all been huge fans of him back in their youth. Whether it is just the three of them or not, it was always good to see this set of films as footage and/or photos containing more than two of the group was incredibly rare indeed after the split. In particular, footage of Paul and George together is incredibly rare with the only other footage I have seen of them both was the two of them signing The Beatles dissolution papers in the NY Plaza Hotel in about 1974. John was meant to be there too but he didn't turn up - now if he had then what a rare bit of film that would have been!

Thanks Bob for influencing and enhancing the Fabs' lyrical and songwriting talents with your own music and by way of smoking a joint, and the Beatles for influencing Bob to get a backing band and go electric, culminating in some of the best rock music of their careers and of all-time. A historic and productive meeting indeed!

Just an observation: The four including the obvious absence of John that completed the circle in their personalities. Paul being connected to George at one side of thought stands to the more public front man and connected to Ringo on the other Ringo connected to John ( now sadly absent ) was a buffer between Paul and John's rougher edge like a peacemaker between them while on Johns other extreme met with George's far extreme completing the circle of creativity and dynamic musical brilliance in range there will ever be. They all interacted so very well together mutually

Yaaas!! You got their diff pair ups right!! Paul & George, great guitarists (Taxman & And Your Bird Can Sing!🧡), with Paul being the more outspoken, both creative composers too, but John was also a good guitarist, composer & joker of the band, which Ringo is too, who has a steady playing of the drums & the peaceful member in the band too, which spiritual George is kinda like that too in his lifestyle & beliefs… which Paul is kinda like that too as he doesn’t rly know how to joke ard as much😅😅they just complement each other😍

How I was also "kick" me by the sight of my other idol on the wall - Ayrton Senna.But i knew that George is a big motorsport fan. The Beatles was something total unique. It's a bit sad that such people in one team and such a phenomenon as this group will never happen again in history.

Just had this hit watching the three "lads" reminiscing around a table... one was missing. I wonder how the Lennon tree would have continued to grow. I tried to "imagine" him there, with Paul, George and Ringo. There would be different sparks for sure. In Beatle world, John was in charge of sparks. I sure miss his sparks as a fan.

It would be great just to see them going about their day just sharing conversation, doing absolutely nothing (-a bit we got here with them sitting around the table talking about the old days). If they filmed 250 hours of the three of them just puttering around doing nothing I'd watch every minute! Just watching them talk and the resulting camaraderie, is fascinating

I doubt they could stand 250 hours in each other's company. Imagine doing that with an old school friend. You have both moved on massively in your own lives. One to two hours max, then it's Christmas Card List only.

0:32 "Should we go make a Record?" This really captives I think Paul's enthusiasm with this reunion. It's really sad they never did a full on Album it would have been really awesome!! If i had to guess why it didn't happen, it had to do with there was a lack of comfortability playing together without John being there. I remember them mentioning how hard it was emotionally for them to do Free As a Bird, Real Love and rightfuly so RIP John. I Think also they still had some creative tension, for instance the third song "Now And Then" George didn't like the sound of how it was coming along in the Sessions so it never appeared on the Anthologies and got rejected. Despite not much content that got recorded unfortunately in the end they probably felt they didn't need to, after all The Beatles will be remembered until the end of the world!! 💯💯🔥🔥.
