Billy Preston played with the Beatles many times. He also played with the Rolling Stones and Ray Charles, pretty good company I'd say. He had 2 big hits that I loved "Will It Go Round In Circles" and "Nothing From Nothing". This rooftop concert is iconic.

John Lennon plays the lead guitar on "Get back". This song can sometimes be seen on youtube, if it's not blocked (...). It belongs to the "Rooftop Concert", the Beatles' last public concert, in January 1969, unannounced, in London, as mentioned, on the roof of their Apple studio. The whole, approx. 40-minute performance can sometimes be seen on youtube, if it's not blocked (...). In the near future there will probably be material, that has not yet been released, first on "Disney +", from the work on the album "Let it be" and the rooftop concert. The documentary is called "Get back" and was put together by "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson. The Beatles almost made a movie of "Lord of the Rings" in the mid 60s, but that idea was eventually dropped.
@ricknbacker56263 жыл бұрын
Originally Get back had a slower country vibe, John suggested the straight rock and roll beat. Paul originally balked at the suggestion but eventually came around to the idea (Ringo's triplets on the snare drum are brilliant). George walked out of the band in early January due to him becoming aware of his wife and Eric Clapton having an affair. In his absence, John assumed the lead guitarist role on the song. Jo Jo was the name of Linda's brother who lived in Arizona. Original satirical lyric "Don't dig no Pakistanis taking all the peoples jobs". Great reaction Cymdy, RNB
@ricknbacker56263 жыл бұрын
@@beatlebrian4404Let It Be Naked has some conversations about the aong Get Back that are very imformative. Bootlegs of 'No More Pakistanis' surfaced back in the 1970's. I first heard it in 1979. I've read a couple interpretations but nothing concrete. I would never assign motives w/o having a pretty good grasp of the facts. I agree completely that John's H addiction created a great deal of paranoia, mostly of his own making. Matt over at Pop Goes the Sixties has done remarkable work on this time period. For the most part Paul comes off diplomatic of Johns obsession with Yoko and firmly grasps that only bad things will come from a united front against her.

Ooh my God we are back into the Beatles, i so much love this guys my geng. This story behind Beatles songs should be a lesson to us never allow anything to stand on your way to pursue your dreams. I really loved it this was taken from the roof I wonder I think they put it on the album so that's really cool but the thing I love is John making fun of the song making up his own lyrics at the start and you can hear somebody bumped into the tape player they must have just brought up a reel-to-reel maybe it's just because when the tape starts it gets tension on the real and it pulls the tape a little bit and then of course you got Billy Preston planning a note so everybody could get tuned up and he kept playing that note and then the song starts and he still playing that it sounds like a seventh or a night's note ironically so it's really cool I just remember it as a kid and then of course at the end of the song John Lennon tells a little impromptu audience that on behalf of the whole band we really enjoyed being here and we really hope we passed the audition which is pretty ironic because when they went to Decca records and they did a demo for them and Decca records they rejected it so that's absolutely hilarious when you think about it I can't remember which one it was but when you look at the film there's a man with a hat and he's smoking a pipe and I believe he's either a duke or a prince or something I think he's a Duke and he got up at the top of this building so we could get a bird's-eye view of what was going on and my friend who grew up as a young boy back in England he knew who that was I'm glad they didn't get it shut down before they recorded that one song although it kind of makes me a little bit sad because I wonder if the cops didn't show up how much more they would have played yeah that's great Billy Preston you don't I had a good friend we played in a band together for many years his name is David May and he told me that when he went and saw The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl he said he could see Billy Preston off to the side playing the piano parts so he had been a fifth Beatle from way back okay my dear girl that was another legendary epic reaction I will check you on the flip flop

Get back is not about Yoko. John would have never allowed this, and he would have boykotted the song. Get back was the original title of the album Let it be, and the basic idea of it, about returning to their roots, using only their instruments, as in their beginning when they started to be famous. Therefore Paul was very angry when "The long and winding road" was played with violins, and so on. Yoko was not the reason of their splitting, but Allan Klein (the manager of the Rolling Stones) was.
