This song is really part of 3 short songs stuck together to form a suite. You can listen to just one part (Golden Slumber) but it will always sound incomplete to a Beatles fan. Play the entire suite which includes Golden Slumber, Carry That Weight and The End. You'll enjoy it thoroughly.

Golden slumbers definitely doesn’t sound incomplete on its own. It’s in my Top 5 greatest compositions by them. I’m a Beatles fanatic, btw

Well done for discovering this beautiful song. Few others have as they just copy each other and they miss so much by doing so. I lived through the Beatles years in London and it was truly wonderful.

Yeah what he said... about listening to the whole suite. It's basically the same song. I loved this when I was a kid. When I heard the Jennifer Hudson version of this I relived this song all over again. She does an AMAZING cover of this that I think you would enjoy!

Jennifer Hudson can sing pretty much ANYTHING. I don't know her version but I bet you're absolutely right!

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... my dear ! So good to see you back here. What a beautiful song ! You should listen to this song TOGETHER with "Carry that weight" and "The end", those three belong together, like a suite. I just woke up to get ready for work and the first thing I see, is YOU... how can a day start any better ? ;-) Here's to your next one ! Hugs and kisses from your friend Gerry

Hey Cynthia, this is part of a suite of songs which were meant to be heard together as on piece. It's like when you heard Cinema Show.

It's short cause you only listened to half of it , do it again with Carry That Weight & The End maybe , you won't regret it . I did dig your reaction to the bit you listened to , his voice kills me every time I listen to it , which is quite often . 🐧

Wait a minute, you can't cut that off there, it goes right into Carry That Weight through to The End. I would suggest that you start with side two of Abbey Road with Here Comes The Sun and just let it play through to the end, it all flows from one song to the next. You don't know what you're missing young lady. ☮️✌️💕
@markfichera4693 жыл бұрын
You have to listen to the whole side of side two. All the songs run into each other.

Yea, you got to listen to "Carry That Weight", The End" and "Her Majesty" those songs follow each other kinda like a whole song, only three separate sections.

It's a medley, with Carry That Weight and the The End. Pls listen as a medley. Ta

Side two of this LP was originally an entire blend of short songs merging together into one long listen. New technology does not allow this flowing from one song to the next, so you get the abrupt ending of a particular piece of music, sadly.
@Alewifes_Husband3 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing no one who suggested this explained the 3-song medley thing 😃! That's coz we all know it like it was born into us. So easy to forget to explain it to someone not familiar with it. If you dare, you could run the Abbey Road album from You Never Give Me Your Money all the way to The End as one big medley. 16 minutes of Totally Worth It. Have fun!
@1967PONTIACGTO3 жыл бұрын
such a beautiful piece of music, but it's so short because it is actually part of a whole medley of songs from Abbey Road... now you have to listen to the whole medley... it starts with "You Never Give Me Your Money", and goes to the end of the album... you will probably love it!

I like these reactions for two reasons. 1) It’s been a long time since hearing some of these classics. 2) Younger people get exposed to real music and real talent instead of the mostly crap being produced these days.

Wish this song was longer. I know its a part of a whole other chunk of songs but if it was its own and was longer itll be so good

Well, what else could one say? Maybe the change of Pauls voice from soft to rough and slowly back to soft.

Hey Cynthia, great song! Actually, a great PART of a song trilogy. Still beautiful on its own, though. Here is a (long) list of songs you should consider reacting to: Elton John: Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters Joan Armatrading: Down to Zero The Moody Blues: The Land of Make-Believe David Bowie: Wild Is the Wind Stevie Wonder: All In Love Is Fair Carly Simon: I've Got to Have You Crowded House: Into Temptation Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind Loggins and Messina: Pathway to Glory 10cc: I'm Not In Love K.D. Lang: Trail of Broken Hearts Dwight Yoakam: Ain't That Lonely Yet Shawn Phillips: Today America: Ventura Highway Jethro Tull: Reasons for Waiting Cat Stevens: How Can I Tell You Fleetwood Mac: Landslide Bill Withers: Use Me Bob Marley: Stir It Up Kate Bush: The Man with the Child in His Eyes Bread: Diary Strawbs: The Golden Salamander R.E.M.: Fall On Me Foreigner: I Want to Know What Love Is Otis Redding: These Arms of Mine Joni Mitchell: Just Like This Train Jim Croce: Dreamin' Again The Guess Who: Share the Land U2: One Cheers!

You need to react to the NCcache100 Live version of this song Cynthia - which includes, as everyone has been saying, the complete trilogy: because it isn't meant to be just one song, it's 3 together. You really should cry your eyes out because you will first of all realise he is singing about the end of the Beatles. Once there was a way to get back homeward. But no longer. What was truly the most beautiful thing that mankind ever created in the entire history of this sad and tormented world is over. And this was Paul McCartney's way of expressing his sadness, just as he did so brilliantly on 'Let It Be'. He sings 'boy you're going to carry that weight a long time' because he knows WE will all suffer when the Beatles are gone, as we all have. And one thing more. I hope you realise as a Black woman that performances like these, by the Beatles and Paul Simon in particular, did more for healthy race relations than any politician ever did. You should write to Paul and thank him for the freedoms you now take for granted, because without him your people would still be slaves of the British.

You know what I’ve observed. For some reason these music react videos are 75% of the time done by black people. I’m not racist so don’t worry. However What this makes me think is about all those people out in the world regardless of race who say white peoples don’t have culture… we’ll I guess they do because lots of black peoples are only just now discovering this content. I love culture so much. It’s so fascinating. So much fun to learn about other people culture.
