This tutorial helped me a lot - thank you very much. It is without tabs, but you can see perfectly what the fingers and the strumming hand are doing. Always pause, rewind, look again - imitate - until it fits. Thanks a lot for that! A small drop of bitterness: The second half of the verse is missing - that confused me a bit. I watched this on another video.

My 58 (fiddy eight) year old fingers are like a bird's nest for the end of the verses so I came up with what is easier for me, the old sumbitch! For the - it's been a (long cold lonely winter)" etc. part. I keep the D chord formation when I start this song. For the first change - starting with D shape lift only your index and place it on fifth string 2nd fret followed by the 4th string open. Using a down-down single note for each string Hit the 5th/2nd fret DOWN once followed immediately by the 4th Open DOWN once. The index 5th/2nd - Open 4th starts on (Long) Stay in this shape - then With the middle and ring finger still on the D chord shape positions - strum UP on the 1st string 2nd fret then UP on the 2nd string 3rd fret. The 1st/2nd - 2nd/3rd starts on (Cold) REPEAT these two (1st & 2nd strings) with the middle finger lifted up. UP Open 1st string - UP 2nd string 3rd Fret The 1st/Open - 2nd/3rd starts on (Lonely) Finally, DOWN on 5th open into the A chord. That was as clear as mud, but works great for me!! Jack ~'()'~ Canada

I love this version and you explanation is very good. Yet I still find it difficult to follow the structure of the song. For an experienced player, this might not be a problem but as someone who only just got to this level of playing, it is a bit confusing sometimes. It would help if you played it through once. Hey I was wondering, the way you teach it it seems that the intro is only played once, but in the original record that intro part is played twice and theres a little pause moment on A7, right before the vocals come in. Is your version different on purpose in that way? Because i prefer learning through your version but it comes out different
@AnxietyAddict9 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. Carl has got the first bit of the intro spot on for the first bit. But then on the record it goes around again but it sounds slightly different before it goes into the verse.
