@@Rowlph8888”Lady Madonna” had actually been recorded a bit over a week before this session. They just used this session footage for that video since it was all the footage they had. @@lgaytan65Paul was the one making innovative and experimental music post Beatles while John stuck to basic rock, pop, and blues. John barely experimented at all post Beatles while Paul helped to pioneer several genres. He proved who the real genius in the Beatles was. Without Paul, John would have went nowhere and got stuck doing skiffle music. John’s songwriting is good at the barebones level, but he had no idea what to do in the studio without Paul, George Martin, and Geoff Emerick
@lgaytan65

@@ewest14 I'm sorry, but completely disagree. Paul was & still is the love ballad songwriter & his music has always been very mainstream. John's "Norwegian Wood" was the 1st song that broke away from the traditional love songs they were writing in the early years. John was by far the deep lyrics song writer & genius of the group. Don't get me wrong, Paul is a good love song writer, but for a reason John was called the Bob Dylan of the group. Paul hasn't had anything of substance since the 1980's because the love ballad is no longer is what's popular, & John's style of music would've been way more relevant even in today's modern music. It's just a shame John left us at a very young 40 years of age since he had so much more great music to give this world, & truly believe he would've adjusted more to the music scene today than Paul.

Excerpt: "‘I was bored on the 9th Octover 1940 when, I believe, the Nasties were still booming us led by Madalf Heatlump (Who only had one). Anyway they didn’t get me. I attended to varicous schools in Liddypol. And still didn’t pass-much to my Aunties supplies." I'm not sure it qualifies as 'genious' quality. It is goose for a loaf thus.

Steve Gadd would have that exactly the same as Ringo even without ever hearing it before - he's another freak. Never wastes a hit yet he has a 50TB larder full of them. This is what Geoff wrote in his book: "[It was] one of the few times that he nailed it right away,” he wrote in his 2006 memoir, Here, There and Everywhere. “His amp was turned up really loud, and he used one of his new fuzz boxes, which made his guitar absolutely scream.” "He" was George.

That main riff is just a uncadenced instrumental version of the melody and rhythm of the "lonely you can talk to me" lyric, so it would have come naturally from the song. @@carlostejada1479 The bass isn't even very audible. It could be removed and the song would basically sound the same. The bass line often just doubles the main riff or Lennon's vocal melody. I think most of the people on this thread talking about the great bass line don't even know what the bass line in this song is.

@@stickman1742 the bass does not just double the riff or vocal melody. The bass is very distinctive in this song and does a lot of the work. You’re just saying that because you love John but you don’t have to bring Paul’s bass down to do that.

@HEMAN is a JEDI They all received MBEs in 1965 or 1966, George was the only one who showed any actual public respect for it back then. John sent his MBE back to the Queen in the 70s with a letter that pretty much read, "Kiss my ass!", and Paul got knighted in 1997. George died before he could get anything higher than the MBE, and Ringo's recently gotten his knighthood in something like December 2018.

I love George but let's be honest here....he did not "flower" as a writer until 1968. That is not dismissing his previous songs in any way, but realistically he put out his best Beatle's material during two of the final 3 albums that the group made (White Album and Abbey Road). And after 1972, his songwriting (and voice) went downhill again. John and Paul had already written 20 timeless songs by 1968, far ahead of George's creative burst of 1968-1969.

@@jameseldogger7410 I always saw it like this : George was an excellent songwriter, but he needed time to work on his songs. That's why All Things is so good, some of the songs on that album date all the way back to '66. Other example is that he had Something in his head for at least a year before finishing it. After Living in The Material he started rushing his albums, and that's why his output diminished. That's how i see it at least.
@jameseldogger7410
@jameseldogger7410 2 жыл бұрын
@@rafaelandrade7627 I think George learned a lot from John and Paul, and by Revolver (1966), he started to put really good songwriting together. "Taxman", to me, was a big breakthrough..excellent tune. But then he didn't put much greatness out during Magical Mystery Tour, Pepper (Beatles did not play on Within You/Without You), or even the White Album (Aside from My Guitar Gently Weeps). Yes, I realize he had other focuses going on... and I am not saying the other songs before Abbey Road were bad, but they were not anything an excellent songwriter would produce with consistency. Being frustrated / held back (behind John and Paul's great writing) really helped George for Abbey Road / All Things Must Pass...so it was really a burst when he got his "Get Out Of The Beatles Pass" to record on his own (aside from electronic music). I do like his early Beatle songs, they fit in well with the rest of those albums.

It's in my top 3!!! I LOVE HEY BULLDOG, the problem is back in the day when it was released it NEVER got much airplay on the radio, so it has become a "deep cut" that most people haven't ever heard, unless you were a die hard Beatles fan like I am. WHEN DAVE GROHL from the FOO FiGHTERS covered it on CBS' special on the 50 th anniversary of the Beatles coming to America, I WENT NUTS!!! I was up dancing. Paul, wife Nancy, Ringo and wife Barbara, Yoko and Sean Lennon were all in the front row when he sang it and the camera focused on them several times during Hey Bulldog. IF you have never seen that show here's that clip of Dave Grohl singing it, he did great on it....kzbin.info/www/bejne/qanUq4CPn8-ejZo

The Beatles have dozens of underated songs I prefer to big hits like Hey Jude, Let it be, or Yesterday.

Sheepdog Standing in the rain Bullfrog Doing it again Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles What makes you think you're something special when you smile? Child-like No one understands Jack knife In your sweaty hands Some kind of innocence is measured out in years You don't know what it's like to listen to your fears You can talk to me You can talk to me You can talk to me If you're lonely, you can talk to me Big man (yeah) Walking in the park Wigwam Frightened of the dark Some kind of solitude is measured out in you You think you know me, but you haven't got a clue You can talk to me You can talk to me You can talk to me If you're lonely, you can talk to me Wahoo woof! Woof! Hey bulldog! Hey bulldog! Hey bulldog! Hey bulldog! Hey man, what's that boy? Woof! What do you say? I said, "Woof!" You know anymore? Wooaah ha-ha-ha! You've got it, that's it, you had it! That's it, man, woo! That's it! You've got it! Don't look at me man, I only have ten children Ah ho! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Quiet boy, quiet! Okay, quiet! Hey bulldog! Hey bulldog!

George looked super annoyed tbh. You can tell John and Paul were fully immersed in their own love bubble at the time and when that happened, they forgot about everyone else in the room.
