Ringo is more than just an average rock drummer-his multiple, measured, and perfectly timed drum fills sound like no one else in the rock world, and are so incredibly tasty! No one plays in service to a song like Ringo. I think he's the only drummer I can think of that if you only played the drum track by Ringo you would immediately recognize the song. For further reference, I would point you to "The Genius of Ringo Starr" in a program where famous rock drummers discuss and analyze how Ringo plays drums on different Beatles songs. For me, an incredibly underrated and unique drummer who sounds like no one else, and the perfect drummer for the Beatles.

Ringo was not an "orthodox" drummer. Like all The Beatles, none could read or write music (Paul, later did with some of his classical efforts) -The Beatles learned by hearing, watching like early Rock movies to see Little Richard, or Elvis play. They would learn notes and chords from other musical people. I recall that Ringo, when in the hospital as a child, due to his appendix, there were music instruments brought into the hospital ward -Ringo took to the tambourine, and maraccs' When he grew up, there was a man who played drums in the British Army, Ringo started lessons -yet he wanted a full kit, like in a Jazz band. Ringo like Country music, from America. Charlie Watts also played drums in Jazz -he played a variety of rhythm with the Stones, too.

McCartney's bass is crazy on this song! So many rapid notes just whipped off in such an incredibly melodic style-almost a lead instrument all by itself!

Bluesy hard rock turns into a doom metal loop. Seasoned with psychedelic sprinkles. Beatles could do anything and do it all fabulously.

I just don't understand why Lennon didn't continue making songs like this. It fits his style of guitar, it fits his voice, it fits is "no BS lyrics" stance. It's like he did it once and never went back to it, which is sad.
@36karpatoruski
@36karpatoruski Ай бұрын
@@OroborusFMA It is puzzling. Though he certainly did LOTS of other songs that were masterpieces, and uniquely Lennon. And yet one offs as well. Appears as though he may have thought, “well I did that already, let’s try something else.” And then he knocked it out of the park again, just differently.

The first time I heard this song was at my brother's house. He had very sophisticated (for the time) stereo equipment with great headphones. I sat in a reclining chair with my eyes closed. In the second half of the song as the white noise increased, I felt the sensation of my body lifting out of the chair. When it suddenly stopped I had the sensation of being dropped back into the chair. I'll never forget it.

Alan Civil (French horn - For No One) and Anil Bhagwat (tabla - Love You To) both received album cover credits for their contributions to the Beatles album Revolver. Billy Preston would receive his due credit on the Let It Be soundtrack album released a year later in May of 1970. Cheers, RNB

The very last Beatles song !! On August 20, 1969, the song was mixed and finished. That was the last time the 4 Beatles were together in the studio. This song and others on the Abbey Road album show by using synthesizers and new recording techniques in the Abbey Road Studio , where the music of the Beatles might have gone . It was also again discussed that the Beatles wanted to give smaller live concerts and to bring Billy Preston into the band. However, these thoughts were lost due to the quarrels in the band and the subsequent dissolution.

If one does a Beatles pilgrimage. to Liverpool. too, there are certain routines that you do in tribute to the Lad's :)

Very good reaction and summary of the song. It was during this era that John had said he only had energy for work and sex. The truth was he had limited energy for work too, as can be seen and heard in the Get Back and Let It Be films, but him and Yoko had a solid sex life from what I gathered. Quick edit...Paul is flexing some serious bass playing muscle on this track. He could've been a legendary bass player if they had been a 100%, hard rock band. Another edit lol...ive known this song for 40 years. I always try to predict when its going to end based on the chord progression, and after 40 years I atill can't get it.

The strength of the Beatles was that they never repeated themselves. The weakness of the Beatles was that they never repeated themselves. Lennon never made another song like this, which is a shame. The alternate version on the Delux Abbey Road is arguably better. That whole bit of mixing in more and more white noise with an early synth never worked for me, though it does serve as a metaphor for the rising "noise" between the band members.

Open to correction, but if I understand correctly, the noise that steadily comes in at the end of the song is a fan that John wanted brought in and had moved gradually closer to one of the recording microphones. Where he got the idea to do this, God only knows!

@@DJBilodeau I never heard that before. What I read over these past 6 decades was John used the white noise setting on George's recently purchased Moog Synthesizer. (which, with different settings, was also used on Here Comes The Sun, Maxwells Silver Hammer, Because and Sun King) According to Paul, he hated the white noise sound and the glee John gained as he kept increasing the saturation. Macca felt John was defacing their music. But over time Paul did embrace John's ..um..handywork🙂 RNB

It's almost like coming to a history colloquim commenting on the recording of Beatles tracks-you kind of have to do your homework to check your sources.
