It breaks my heart every time I hear this home demo. John's dead but we get to summon his talent up at the press of a button. And it gives us John back for 4 minutes and John lives on with us for just those 4 minutes. It's beautiful and horrific. All his fragilities and genius is there for us to experience once more. But I only take this one out the box once in a while because it's too special to hear everyday or every month even. Every few months this blows me away.

Great song. In its formative stages as sung by John, it almost sounds like a song that would be played on the radio in the 1920s. If you listen carefully, John adds a bit of a Buddy Holly touch, which didn't make it on to the final record. I'm honored just to be able to comment. Love you always John.

Many years ago, I uploaded an excellent video of this demo in which the audio was digitally cleaned up. It was a BIG hit with Beatles fans, many who at the time were at first in doubt this really is John. Sadly, KZbin deleted it due to copyright violation. Since then, every one I've found here on KZbin sounds like this one. It breaks my heart when I think back to all the rare, high quality videos that KZbin has claimed were in violation of copyright and subsequently were deleted without my permission. 😢😢
