For the explanation: When I was a child and my whole family came to visit (for christmas or stuff like that), we always listened to the Beatles, because everyone in my family liked it and most of the time, Abbey Road was played. So that's why that album really means a lot to me and i was especially in love with Octopus's Garden. It was my favourite song as a child and I still love it. It makes me feel happy and safe. So that's why I love this song so much

It's extremely difficult to chose just ten, but I agree with you on Martha my dear, For you blue, the great voices on Sun king, Penny Lane and there is one which has even inspired me to write a children's story: Being for the benefit of Mr Kite. It's impossible to choose just ten, because the Beatles mean a lot more to me. They were my first English teachers and like you, they moved me to pick up my guitar and play their songs. I'm from Chile and in the 60's you could only listen to them on the radio, but unfortunately, they didn't play the most important part so I really got to know their music in the late seventies when I could afford their records. I discovered your channel a few weeks ago. Great content!

Great video Tudor. Here is my list with a few honorable mentions. Honorable Mentions: Rain, Norwegian Wood, A Day In The Life 10. In My Life- A haunting Lennon composition with beautiful harmonies and a great guitar riff. 9. Within You Without You- such an underappreciated song, and my favourite from Pepper. George's influence with Indian music really shines here and Love You To, sadly that track barely missed this list. 8. Get Back- I can't pinpoint what is so good about this number, but it just is. Everybody loves this song, even non-Beatles fans. 7. Blackbird- On the surface this may sound like another acoustic McCartney song, but there is something special about this song. Also, genius guitar work. 6. Penny Lane- a perfect pop tune. McCartney had a magic that made his songs sound so simple, but as soon as you try and get your head around the technicality, it's unbelievably difficult to understand. 5. I Will- another acoustic McCartney number from the White Album, and extremely appreciated. Again I don't know why it works, but the softness of this song is brilliant. But still not my favourite composition from the White Album. 4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps- That favourite belongs to this track right here. It's really sad George was underappreciated, but people should have seen this genius coming out with his past tracks, and him slowly becoming as good of a songwriter as Lennon and McCartney. Blue Jay Way, Taxman and the aforementioned Within You Without You are little glimpses of the genius we would later see from George. 3. Here, There and Everywhere- I'm going to say something potentially jarring here, but I think this is the best harmony work the band ever did. Pair that with maybe the best vocal performance McCartney ever delivered, and you've got one of the best songs ever made. 2. I Am The Walrus- The lyrics are ridiculous. The chord progression is ridiculous. Everything about this track is ridiculous. From the intro swapping between major and minor to having no minor keys in the song and the harsh vocals from John. But all that messiness makes perfection. 1. Strawberry Fields Forever- We all know how good this track is. But let's highlight George Martin. The man cut two pieces of recording tape and stuck it together just for us to have this track forever. This is a pioneering in engineering and producing music. Not to mention, it's an unbelievable track. Most people consider John's best song to be A Day In The Life. For me, it's this song right here. I think this is John's best songwriting, and his best vocal performance, which makes the splicing between tracks even more unbelievable, it made his vocals even better.

Great video. You're wonderfully English, Tudor. Just today I was thinking about what I felt like as an 11 year old in February of '67 when Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields came out as a double sided single. The radio station would play them back to back. My ears were wide open. What I felt like was, "I want to hear those again." :-) I suppose No. 1 for me would be Side Two of Abbey Road which strikes me as the best 23 minutes of music of the century. I had to explain to a young friend what "Side Two" meant: "From 'Here Comes the Sun' to the conclusion."

The Beatles and young impressionable ears eh? My own recollections of Penny Lane is hearing it as a 5 year old boy lining up my toy soldiers on the bedroom window sill and then staring out to the abyss while hearing the song wafting upstairs from my Dad’s gramophone! Ah sweet memories!

Great pics... in my top 10 'island list' recordings, several of the same pics would be here, maybe in a different order, not sure. At 73, looking back, I kind of have a top 10 for early and another one for their later work. I more than anything realize now looking back what an amazing ride it was through those days having The Beatles as a life's soundtrack. Though, if I had to pick one song it would be Strawberry Fields. It was one of those major tipping points where it's quite definite that there was then, and now everything is after that. Hi Tudor. I'm a long time Beatles fan but having watched Get Back a couple of times since November, the last few months has seen me going Beatle fanatic, searching KZbin for new clips, angles and content... and happened upon yourself. Really enjoying your presentation & views. I'd have to add 'Day in the life', 'Something' & 'Eleanor Rigby'... but they produced so much awesome music you could have 10 separate desert islands and each would have a great selection. 'I want you' seems a real left field choice, proving the point.

Yes, well a top 10 is a hard proposition. My top song is Happiness Is A Warm Gun. The rest have to jostle for position but the top spot is obvious for me. I am the Walrus may be number two. I'm So Tired, another John Lennon song may be three. So John Lennon dominates. But then come a number of McCartney songs like Back in the USSR and Let It Be. Harrison's Here Comes The Sun is just too joyful to leave out. Then come Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields and A Day In The Life. Come Together at 10. That's my best effort.

Another great video Tudor, always a good watch. Well done. I believe I Want You was one of the first ever songs with a Moog synth on it...I am sure I read that somewhere. David Mason, the trumpeter on Penny Lane was paid the princely sum of £27 and 10 shillings for his wonderful piccolo solo. Although to be fair that was quite a decent sum for a couple of hours work in 1967 (about £500 in today's money). I also love I Call Your Name...it swings. Brilliant Tudor...more Beatles stuff. I love your style, you should be on the telly...lol

Another great video, Tudor! Probably the best I’ve seen. It sort of takes a lot of guts to make a video where you get to pick the 10 best Beatles songs of all the ones they wrote. It’s a task I’d find impossible to tackle. I like most of the songs you put in the list because some of them wouldn’t be considered among the top 10 by most Beatles fans. Quite surprisingly you picked “Sun king”, “Savoy truffle” and “I call your name” that probably don’t even make the Beatles top 50 on many lists. It’s your top 10 though and you chose to share it with us. Well done! P.S.: how about “You know my name (look up the number”) ? And John’s suggesting the words ‘You Know What I Mean’ changed the whole song! BTW: I love your #1 pick! ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ is my fav track on Abbey Road. It serves as a border song from the more traditionally written songs on side 1, and the collective side 2! This is VERY evident when listening to this album on CD!
