When it comes to debut albums, this is one of the best. Out of all the albums the Fab Four released, this one is as raw and real as it comes. Very minimal overdubbing. A great testimonial of how powerful they were as a band, it showcased their chops which they honed from their time in Hamburg to the Cavern. One of the most overlooked factors which makes this album so magical is the fact that all of the tracks (with the exception of Love Me Do and P.S. I Love You, both recorded in September 1962) are not in standard concert pitch - A440 Hz. Boys is in A431, as is Do You Want to Know A Secret and the rest are in various different pitches (from 433 to 437). So any of you Guitarists (or Bassists), to play along with these tunes you'll have to adjust your tuning a bit flat of standard tuning. I can go on and on and I apologize for the rambling....Rock on! 🤘🤘

Americans got shafted on the early Beatle albums. The original Parlophone LPs are such superior albums ( with the lone possible exception of Rubber Soul). Listening to Please Please Me knowing the context of the times and what this group was up against makes it pretty stunning. Early Beatle stuff often gets slagged compared to later stuff, but in my opinion, those first three albums are a marvel- all recorded within an 18 month period. Impressive as hell.

Trivia questions 1. The Beatles recorded 11 songs on that day, but only 10 made it to the album. What was the song that was left out? 2. Who played the harmonica on the closing credits music of Sesame Street?

I don't like Paul's response to the parade scene. "If it had needed brass, we would've added it". Since when were you the authority on a song you (or any of the Beatles) didn't write? And who cares if it *needs* it, it's an over-the-top version of a song for an over-the-top character's over-the-top amazing day. Sounds good, too. I don't know why I'm so hung up on this. Just seems dickish.
